I had a feeling you would not get baited into messing up Australia on a purpose-made map so I made sure to pick one in WA so you could "out-smart" me without getting too many points. :D One problem you run into a lot when hunting for locations like this is that for the trained eye it is generally pretty obvious what unique coverage will look like on satellite view or in the blue line layer, so most true "bait" locations (of which there aren't that many) can be assumed to have already been discovered by someone else in the community. For example, 3 of the locations from the second challenge are included in the Dec 2022 release of A Balanced World & the South Africa round is 1km south of an ABW loc. Sometimes you'll come across lucky finds, but generally you can't escape resorting to seeking out psychologically tricky 50/50s deep in some remote plantation or forest.
i specifically told you to mention i used submissions from other people for weekly challenges, because i used up most of my cool locs for that! so shoutout and credit to everyone who helped me create my map!
Wow, my map performed even better than I expected. Hope you enjoyed! Thanks a lot for featuring. Also, Debre's comment is spot-on. Finding 1) difficult locations that 2) haven't been discovered yet, 3) are interesting, and 4) work NM and not just NMPZ is very difficult if not impossible. I think the locations, while they weren't "new" per se, were hopefully interesting enough and worth the effort. Of course, props to Debre for his map. Hard to compete with that
I got a grand total of ONE POINT on the Debre map! That's an achievement in itself - it's not easy to do that badly. Roscommon I got about 800 and Lennli around 2100. One point..... geez.... Thanks for the maps, guys, and the video, Zig.
Lol I got like 6k on Roscommon (cuz I got 4.9 in the first Russia round cuz I got the road), debres I got a total of 28 points, and lenli I got like 5k points total

@@zi8gzagA little bit late to see the video, but the last round, being Chilean, suprised me. I thought that the place was somewhere between the regions of Ñuble and Los Ríos (i got like 2000 points btw, the guesses on Central America saved me 😥).
4:00 I believe that tree is banyan (榕樹), famous for its aerial roots, very common in Fujian, Canton, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Malaysia. It is often planted along the pavements and can grow very wide. 😊
28:43 As a california resident something about this place just screamed CALIFORNIA. Dunno what. Almost all the plants you see are non-native. The yellow-flowered plants look like black mustard, which is invasive in California grasslands (though maybe also in other places? Don't see much on iNaturalist though so not sure). I feel like invasive/naturalized brassica should look pretty distinguishable from planted brassica. I guessed panoche hills though so I was a good bit away. Actual location's in the hills east of bakersfield. Makes me feel like maybe the weather could be the Central Valley Haze
The yellow-white flowers at 18:09 look to be seafig or iceplant, a plant native to Sudafrica which is invasive in temperate coastal areas. This should be able to stop super polar guesses like iceland or super tropical guesses. It has a really interesting iNat map (seems to be limited to western europe/mediterranean coasts when in Europe, in USA it's found in the west coast but not the east coast, etc.) Check it out!
I played roscommons map, it was very hard except i managed to 4.9k the russia so it saved my score a bit. I also had alot of trouble with debre's map, and got a score of 28 points, props to him
24:00 I saw the pine plantations and felt like Mexico, maybe Chiapas. But ig even Australia has pine plantations. That was an absolutely insane guess! How did you decide to go there?
Wow, that made me feel better about my 1210 on the Debre challenge. My only big point scorer was round 4 where I got 1200. I remembered it looked like the Mexico one so I went a similar area and it was Colombia.
Loving your content man, but please don’t burn out. Daily videos are super tough to maintain and people will enjoy all your content, whether it’s daily or not.
21:19 Those 'pines' looked sus to me. I thought they might be "she-oaks" (genus Casuarina) so I went Australia. Looking at the actual location I'm honestly not sure whether they're pines or she-oaks. I can't find many obs's on iNat.
The WTG round I ruled out Brazil immediately because Portuguese doesn't use the letter W. But it is entirely possible they still have it on signs... I really couldn't say
Loving this series, I am no pro by any means, but actually have a chance against you on these random maps First one got humbled, second actually beat you the Bangladesh came clutch (when I saw the fence I was like dude this has to be Bangladesh I swear and went with my gut) and third better, but mainly because you fumbled that hard :D Sometimes feels like the less you know the better the guess on these
At 13:30 when you zoomed in on the building these was some text that could've given a clue but you missed it. Or maybe I'm wrong, I'm not a geoguesr pro
Wow, I beat you on Debre's map! I feel like it's not really an achievement though, because of the fact that the whole thing was a psychological weapon with all the baiting, and especially knowing that it comes from Debre - if one knows what the location was intended to look like, then the best bet is trying to find bizarre picks that could also look like that, and I just happened to get semi-lucky... In the fourth round, I went with Yucatan, Mexico, because the blinding white dirt reminded me of locations I'd seen there. That earned me 1321 points out of the full 1401. My best guess in the whole thing was on that Russian one in Rosscommon's map. I figured it would be somewhere around Georgia, so I picked a location near Новороссийск, which earned me 3678 points.
On Lennie round 4 I was thinking india, india does have eucalyptus and the vegetation on the left is commonly found in western and southwestern rural India.(I'm indian)
Your performance on Debre's map was honestly one of the most impressive performances you've put up in this series. Debre just kinda "cheated" a bit with 3 friggin plantations, mixing up SEA and LATAM always makes for confusion, so it was "easy places to find bait" locations. And for almost all of his rounds, you actually did read him and which confusion he was going for like a book. Very well played, even if the dicerolls landed the wrong way (and no im totally not biased by having been trolled by debre before xD)
I've been watching Rainbolts shorts recently. Can you help me understand please? He can get within a few miles on 0.1sec blurred, blindfolded, scrambled, just grass, just the sky. How is he not an unbeatable robot? Either he is lying and creating these videos falsely, he is so good he is banned from being the world number 1. Or he chooses to not compete to give everyone else a chance. Or the mode he uses has limited locations. I love watching his stuff, not attacking him, but just dont understand how he is so good, but not ranked in WC.
the third one, in the shorts rainbolt use maps with limited locations and he keep replying the same until he gets the 5 thousand points and that is the short that the one who comes out the total winner publishes
A cool video idea might be to have someone else use ai to draw random countries, and then you have to guess what country generated that image. Could even throw in countries that don't have street view yet!
Got 1.3kon Lennis 3.8k on Roscommons 8.5k on Debres, had a decent Mexico guess and got 4.9k on the Colo round which I was proud of, im still inexperianced at the game so happy with that game
