As a German, I immediately realised it was Berlin, but to be fair the Brandenburg Gate and the whole district are modelled after Paris, since the late 18th century/early 19th century Prussian kings were big fans of French culture and felt Berlin had to look more majestic for Prussia to be able to compete with the other big powers and their Viennas, Parises and Londons. On that note, it's also funny that you would mention Bucharest, which of course also took after Paris and is sometimes called "Paris of the East".
As someone who pinpointed the Ratingen Google car location based on the video they initially posted, I recognized it immediately and laughed my a*se off. Impressive that you found that.
I consider myself mediocre at geoguessr, but the Rio de janeiro round HURT right when the picture popped up, i was like RIO the famous dude with his arms out, i think the altitude and the vegetation was, what really made it easy.

just want to tell you how much i love your content! i’ve been watching for a while but went on a HUGE binge last night and i’m jazzed i woke up today to a new vid ❤
ngl some of the most fun I've had playing this game has been the Famous Places map on No Moving. I've also been trying NMPZ on it as well. I know it's mostly just memorizing the locations but it is still very fun to see all these places I've never seen before.
thanks for including the challenge links! I'm going to give them a shot before I watch the video! I'm curious if they will have any overlap with the Famous Places map
16:19 seeing this image was brilliant, i immediately recognised it, having crossed the road in pretty much that exact spot on two different trips to berlin. great memories, thanks for that
one thing that strikes me is how quickly you asses not just cardinal direction but time of day and based on that cardinal direction, just based on sunlight. I feel like this is way underdiscussed in all these types of "thought process" videos
I really really like the ambient music you have going in the background. If you have a playlist you can link, that would be greatly appreciated. Excellent video as always. I found you through your collabs with JackSucksatGeography. Please do more of those if you can. They are so good!
The star wars set in Tunisia is a crazy one for me. I was there more than 10 years ago and I immediately recognised it even if it's not such a famous location. I think the salt in the sand which makes it have these white areas mixed with more yellow ones is pretty unique to that part of Sahara. It's this area that's famous for mirages because from the distance it looks like water in evenings because of how the salt reflects the sun. I might be talking out of my butt and it could be super common in desserts.
I just laughed at the fact that The great mosque of Touba was there. Not necessarily famous at all but such a meme at this point. I weighed between Tunisia and Senegal but i was like eh Senegal hasn't any famous places
Easy - got all of them. Three times 5k, 4,999 Burj Khalifa, 4,984 Mt Fuji. Medium - got four out of five (didn't think about Tuba Mosque and just plonked in Dakar). To be fair, in Bangkok I had a different pano and a Thai flag was visible. Golden Gate Bridge and Cristo Renador I missed the pinpoint slightly and just got 4,999. In Rio, the sun was fairly clearly from the North, and with the car and the speed limit sign I immediately thought Brazil (just the sign back wasn't black really). Hard - got two out of five. Went Granada on Grand Canyon, Kairo on Star Wars Tunisia, knew the Ratingen Rainbolt/Kodiak one, went Taj Mahal on Jaipur and knew I was wrong already (don't know the Jaipur building anyway), got Machu Picchu but took quite long to scan for it even though I knew it was in the Cusco area.
Weird that the Vegas landmark was just 90 degrees off, instead of behind you. Up to that point, you could use the compass to orient yourself relative to the landmark.
All people have rather similar (similarly bad) peripheral vision - unless someone has an actual defect, like „tubular vision”. Those who can scan well know had bad our peripheral vision is, and purposefully move their point of fixation around the scan area. Those who are bad at it, simply assume that they’ve seen everything on their screen already, while in fact they only saw the centre properly.
'Am I recording?, yes I am' is a good GeoWizard moment there.
The fact that you had the Burj Khalifa on your screen when you were looking, saying “I can’t see it” was soooo painful.
I ripped my testicales straight off in that part of the video

Touba mosque and Rainbolt+Kodiak chasing Google Car will always be iconic for the Geoguessr community. Loved those additions.
i am screaming and kicking at the fact that you didnt see the burj khalifa on the map, what a classic zigzag moment
i can change (clueless)
i have been there.

Oversaturated rizz

lets goo im glad you got the famous place in ratingen
really funny to think how this random place in a small town in the Ruhrgebiet became legendary. Great locations 👌
Zi8gzag: this is almost certainly California
Me: so, definitely Golden Gate Bridge then, right?
Zi8gzag: proceeds to spend several minutes nowhere near San Francisco
That one was a big surprise for me.
Yeah, I've been to the golden gate probably 5 or 6 times but never on the low lands on the north shore, it really threw me.
if you don't like the thumbnail you can click on the video to make it disappear.
what if everyone used 100% of their brain like you
Doesn’t work, they’re still haunting me even after I click
god the burj khalifa round was painful
zigzag when it's time to find something on the map 💀
@@zi8gzag 😭to be fair i do remember STRUGGLING to find it on the map in the past so it's very understandable imo

Yes and the eyes go from blue to red
I love the cursed thumbnails and as I understand it, the uncanny valley makes people pause when scrolling, getting you clicks.

I wonder if he could find Cousin Eddie's spread?
I love the thumbnails tbh they are hilarious, and to be honest they do draw the eye a bit more which is probably the point

Living in LA was huge for getting the GGB - there really is nothing by the water in the LA area except well known beaches.
Could you do a geoguessr map with historically important locations?
15:43 Is this the temple where the big sleeping Buddha is? If so, I’ve been there as a kid! ❤
I got the Berlin one with few meter accuracy having never visited Berlin and never played this game before. I'll take that
