    I bought a street bike totally not set-up for touring, which I fully intend to tour on, and I've been trying to figure out a luggage system for a year that'll work with the upswept exhaust - I really think this could work. I'm super happy right now. I'm disabled which holds my adventures to hotel hopping on pavement - so I do crazier things - like using a 38HP 650 Ural to haul a GS500 Suzuki 1500 miles south in 2012 - or buying a Moto Guzzi V7 Racer to tour on (it's stupid pretty, reminds me of dad's 77 Ducati GTS, and the rearsets somehow fit my long-ass legs better than mid mounts - needs handlebars though).
    I think I'll be able to tie those side bags in a way where they'll be clear of the upswept pipes and the tail bag (might need the bigger one) should be perfect - and I was looking at the mounting instructions, I'll get an extra heat shield just in case, probably use the narrow bike mounts on the main mount to pull the side bags a bit further from the silencers... I'm willing to gamble it'll work (gotta wait till Spring, gotta sell a bike to pay for some of this, which is better set-up but 20 pounds too heavy while carrying less fuel).

      I'd go with the 80. I got the 40 and I'm sort of regretting it. Trying to figure out how to attach as many Molle pouches as possible to bulk it out. 40 is great for one night, especially if you don't carry much in the way of tools/service stuff.

    • @TheIdlesurfer
      @TheIdlesurfer 7 місяців тому

      I'd agree. You can camp out of the 40 but it will be Spartan. I've got tools, bed roll, sleeping bag, tent, tools, inner tube, off bike clothes, waterproofs, light shoes, Helinox camp chair, basic cooking and a couple of boil in the bag meals with this set up and the 22 litre Stinger. I also had the Klim Tactical Vest. That was good for soft, light but fairly bulky stuff. I quite like the packing discipline the 40 gives me. 2 other mates also camped out of 40 plus 22. Splitting out cooking, air pump, tyre irons, some tools and tubes made it do-able.

    Looks nice! Does it fit to the Aprilia Tuareg? Do I need to install a rear rack in the Aprilia for the Reckless 40/80? Is the heat shield enough protection in the Aprilia not to burn any plastics?

    • @MoskoMoto
      @MoskoMoto  2 роки тому +1

      Hey! Both the Reckless 80 and 40 fit well on the Aprilia Tuareg. The Reckless 80 would benefit from having a rear luggage rack. As long as the heat shield is mounted properly it will work in preventing damage to plastics and the Reckless system. Hope this helps!

    Can you please add about the side straps that hold down the side bags. I had no idea that you used them to pull the bags down and not make everything tight. Every few days someone posts a picture with them on a bike with the straps wrong. Now that I know it’s wrong it’s doing my head in. Got the r10 & r40 both are farking amazing.

    If I need around 60L of space, is it better for me to have a R40 with the Stinger 22 or to have the R80 with no aux pox and leave the Stinger 22 at home?

    • @MoskoMoto
      @MoskoMoto  2 роки тому +1

      Both are great options. It really comes down to personal preference. The R40 is a great way to keep things light and tight. The R80 might offer you more versatility in packing light, but also having the option to pack more for bigger/longer trips. Can't go wrong in our opinion!

    • @theunheardprophet4315
      @theunheardprophet4315 2 роки тому

      I usually prefer it light and tight but in the end I ordered the R80 because I'm uncertain what else I will pack in addition to my ultralight camping gear and because it looks way more comfortable to pack the 25L drybags instead of the 14L ones of the R40. I'll see if the 50L/58L configuration of the R80 fits my needs and if not I might just have to buy an R40 and keep them both! 😁 Thanks for the reply!

    wich one setting ( narrow or wide) do u recommend for my Dr 650?

    • @MoskoMoto
      @MoskoMoto  Рік тому

      Hey Sergio! If you're running a wider rear luggage rack, or want to utilize a larger center bag, you might end up using the wide setting on the R40. If not, the narrow setting fits the DR650 rear fender really well. Hope this helps!

    • @MoskoMoto
      @MoskoMoto  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Brad! A fully loaded Stinger 22L nearly maxes out the R40 beavertail. We don't recommend running the 8L & 22L together. A lot of our team runs the 22L Stinger & Tent Pole bag under the R40 beavertail, with room for a jacket or something similar. Hope this helps.

    • @MoskoMoto
      @MoskoMoto  Рік тому

      Hey! It's not something we've done ourselves, but both the BC duffle and the 8L Stinger have plenty of attachment points. Shouldn't be difficult to properly secure the Stinger onto the Duffle. :)

    • @xplorick
      @xplorick Рік тому

      @@MoskoMoto I see.. The BC duffle is amazing for the convinient openings thru the sides as well as the top for quick access items, while the sidebags of the R40 fits better for my KLX250 compared to the panniers.
      I am really hoping to see a system that use the Leg Bags of the R40 + BC 30/40 Duffles in MM store.. Tho I am not entirely sure if the sidebags would be accessible if the BC40 is installed as a tail bag on smaller enduros, maybe BC30 would be more realistic. 🤞🏽

    Is the heat shield included or is it purchased separately? Is it necessary to put it with the R40 on a Tiger 1200 RE?

    • @MoskoMoto
      @MoskoMoto  Рік тому +1

      Yes, the heat shield is included. We highly encourage the use of a heat shield no matter the bike unless the bike has traditional pannier racks that will keep the Reckless from coming into contact with the exhaust.

    And the fuel cap access?

    • @MoskoMoto
      @MoskoMoto  2 роки тому +1

      Hey! There is no opening for fuel on the Reckless 40. We have definitely considered putting a fuel hole into the R40, but when we took into account how big the hole had to be, we determined that it would compromise the overall structure, so we didn't move forward with it. The Reckless 80 does have a fuel opening.

      Mine worked faultlessly on my 701 on a standard pipe with the Nomad pannier supports. Also, the non exhaust side has enough room for a tool tube on the inside of the pannier frame. Weighs a couple of kilos max.
