Jason made it super clear to me with your explanation that I do not need keys to open the supports, you only need a key with the appropriate size to remove the bolt that affirms the support from the fender ...
I finally got the hood latches installed. Boy, you sure made it look easier than it really was! It was a 5 hand deal for me. I had to put the sockets on the wrench after I had them in the panel to get it to fit. Then there was the whole dropping the nut over and over again… 😂 Now that they are on the work was worth it! Good flutter will definitely no longer be a thing. Thanks again for another install!

@AutoEdits Curious about your stereo upgrade.I went with Alpine ILX F409 in my 14 JKU Rubicon . It's the 9 inch halo single din install.. LOVE IT! And Alpine recently released the ILX F 509! Which is even better Givin it's WIRELESS andriod auto! I'd be glad to send pics if you are interested.. I too went to the same mag mount for my phone.. Although I have it attached to a bracket that mounts behind the passenger grab handle and angles towards the driver position ..
What kind of stereo unit have you been looking into? Mine just started cutting in and out...so I'm going to need to replace it. Love to hear what you have been looking at.

My first wrangler experience was a jku willys rental, had a blast out in Vegas in some recreational areas and near "area 51". However I found out about hood flutter on that trip, without any prior knowledge of it, and it scared the hell out of me at first 🤣. Really glad they ditched that design for the jl(u), 21k miles on our JLURD and no hint of hood flutter. The locking feature is quite nice though. I was debating a Bolt hood lock setup but not really a fan of the air obstruction it creates, even though it isn't that bad.

Just ordered a set of phone mounts for the JKU and Ram. Did you have a preferred mount location in Ram Johnson? Great to see Pinto enjoying your company.
I use a 67 designs dash mount for my phone. It holds it super solid. Even on the most rough trails. And it doesn’t interfere with wireless charging. For the hood latches, it’s something I have seriously thought about. Just always worried I will forget or lose the keys and have some emergency where I need to get the hood open because of a fire or something.
@@AutoEdits True, the key could just stay inside. I know Jeep likes keeping the vintage look and feel with the hood latches, but really wish it just had a regular hood release from inside the vehicle.
If you didn’t plan to swap out your radio, the scosche DVD mount is even better than the 3M one. I ran the 3M version on all my cars from autoX to canyon spirited driving and the wrangler dash line doesn’t work well with the 3M.. the DVD mount keeps the phone out of line of sight and is just as solid when tightened and adjusted just like the 3M version.

Hello….I’ve bought this kit off of Amazon upon your recommendation. I have a 2011 Wrangler Sport 2 door. Unfortunately on my Jeep the front by the stock locks is incredibly cramped. I was able, with GREAT difficulty, to install the left side of the hood. The right side is unbelievably cramped and I’m barely able to touch the mounting nut of the lower part of the hood latch.
