UPDATE 😱. The Hobbywing Quicrun setup is smoother, more powerful, and cheaper than the Spectrum 6000kv motor/esc combo in this video. Have a 2nd Typhon Grom in the family running the Hobbywing 2435 6500kv with 16BL30 ESC and it rips with an 18T mod 0.5 pinion. Used a 3D printed ESC mount from RCB off eBay to mount it. In a nutshell, thanks to everyone that recommended the Hobbywing setup!!! 🍻
@@CzarCustomI've been chilling out since recent hernia surgery so I haven't been doing video/uploads. Hopefully soon. The Hobbywing 16BL30 ESC is rated 2-3s. The 2345 4500kv is rated 2-3s. The 6500kv is only rated to 2s. I'm more than happy with 2s. personally.
@@richduperbash2966 I wanted to add that Hobbywing also recommends to use the 6500 KV motor only on-road. I believe this translates to avoid running it in gras or so.
I converted mine to brushless with the Hobbywing quicrun. I found at the skatepark it was so much more fun running the 1/14 scale Hoonicon street tires. Better grip but can still slide. Give them a try. It makes for a fun street basher. Also any 1/10 touring car street tires with the smaller hex work great too for the skate park. You are an epic RC car driver.

I got into drifting (RC and then in real life lol) so I’ve been away from bashing for awhile. A guy at the track mentioned the Grom today and I immediately went home and checked your channel. Awesome to see that you’re still killing it! I just ordered two Typhon Groms. One to build into a brushless basher, and one to see how it does on our drift tracks. We have plenty of 1/10 scale options for drift chassis, but the 1/18 options are fragile or expensive, or both lol! If I can make the Grom slide well with some retrofitted drift parts and a gyro then it might explode in popularity in the drift scene for the chassis alone. Can’t wait for the UPS truck!

Thanks so very much Nick 🤗. Hopefully my diffs will hold up with this setup. It's good the upgrade option is available 🤙. Appreciate the tip and feedback about the Redcat Volcano tires. I'm sure I'd have better air control with a bit more mass. That said, I honestly love what ARRMA did with the Typhon even bone stock 😍
I just picked one up yesterday, a lot fun in the house , I thought the 2/1 6000 were to small , maybe guys were using 2.3 pinions and why breaking shafts
Yes indeed 😱. Been testing the Hobbywing 2435 6500kv with the 16BL30 ESC and it's rips with a 18T Robinson Racing mod 0.5 pinion. It's way smoother than the Spectrum and feels faster 🚀🚀. I used a 3D printed ESC mount from RCB off eBay to mount it up.
Super fun straight out of the box Jose 👊. Actually grabbed a 2nd one for my son Andrew and gonna try a 21T pinion. The brushed motor feels sensored. Super smooth throttle and brake response.
I think ARRMA did awesome at this price point 👍. 139$ for a hobby grade ripper with everything included to run right out of the box. Could probably gear up the brushed motor in lieu of going brushless 🤔. The stock motor is extremely smooth.
Awesome video, Rich. I just got the new Mini-T 2.0 V2 in the mail yesterday and haven't had a chance to run it yet with the rain today but it has the Spektrum SR315 in it and I'm going to throw the same receiver in my Typhon so I can just use one transmitter. What transmitter do you usually use for bashing?
Thanks so much Brother 🤗. I usually run basic Tactic TTx300 controllers and receivers. Love the ergonomics, range, and trigger/wheel tension. I dropped in a spare SR315 in the Typhon and switched to the SLT3 it was bound to for simplicity. Works fine with this little ripper. 🍻
The mah rating represents the capacity. Stock lipos are 1400mah. An 1800-2200mah lipo should afford noticeably longer run times. The downside is weight gain. Too much added weight will affect balance and agility. I haven't investigated with a bigger 2s option, but make certain the dimensions will fit the tray if ordering online.
That sucks 😔. I'd try and get a warranty replacement if possible. Probably a build error during production would be my guess. You could remove the center driveshaft cover to see if there's a problem at the rear input gear 🤔
Mine has been holding up fine with the stock 18T pinion. I only run mine on smooth surfaces (street or dirt) no grass. Grabbed a 2nd Typhon for my son running a Hobbywing 2435 6500kv with their 16BL30 ESC and it's smooth and fast 👌. Had to get a 3D printed ESC/receiver mount combo off eBay, but it's a cheaper option than the Spectrum 6000kv and feels smoother. Planning to do a vid about it soon. Just had hernia surgery so I've been taking it easy 🍻 ESC m

Sorry I missed your comment Brother 👀. My Firma is still hanging tough. That said, I bought a Hobbywing 2435 6500kv with 16BL30 ESC setup for my son's Typhon Grom and it's way smoother and probably faster. It's cheaper than the Spectrum route, but also used a 3D printed mount from RCB off eBay.
@@richduperbash2966 thanks brotha! im very pleased because im instaled the combo firma and is a beast! no issues at all with the 2.0 pinion! and today im finally buying the typhon 6s and out of the box is a beast!! love it my 2 typhons
Yeah brushless from the factory at 139$ would've been nice, but it's an easy conversion. This thing rips hard and takes a hammering. The Hobbywing brushless setup is smoother I've found in my son's Typhon Grom 🍻
No modifications for the motor. I did use pliers to bend the motor heat sink, basically to snug it to fit the smaller diameter 2435 brushless Spectrum.
I missed this whole Grom thing 🙄 Not sure if I’m a fan Bra. I just don’t get it 🤔 In saying that it looks like fun. Keep it up my man love your work ✊🏼

Blew the tires off of my typhon 6s on first battery. Got parts in yesterday to redo the tires. Managed to get all tires off etc etc. put m2c extender 8mm shaft +15mm on the car. Put 8 screws in each tire for the bigger hex adapters. Go to toss the 2.8 proline tires on….. don’t have a tool that’ll fit into the new tire rim to tighten the nuts. Sigh

It hard to find longer can motors over 2535 without going to the 28s
I would almost guarantee guys were using the stock pinion and breaking shafts from wobbly rotation.
Have you tried the hobbywing setup yet? I’m about to order the same one but gonna try the 6500kv motor out since that 6000 looked like fun
@@richduperbash2966 you running it on 2s or 3s with that 6500?
Running 2s only with the stock Spectrum 1400mah. No plans to go 3s.
Damn. Even stock it looks like a lot of fun. I might just pick one up! For when I travel around 😂
Super fun straight out of the box Jose 👊. Actually grabbed a 2nd one for my son Andrew and gonna try a 21T pinion. The brushed motor feels sensored. Super smooth throttle and brake response.
Epic rip as always!! 🎉
Thanks so much Brother 🤗. Can't wait to get this ripper back out. 🍻
@@richduperbash2966 that little rig looks epic !! Always love to see you rippin !! I know I can’t wow to see !! 👍🏼👊🏼
I live in your area, what are the locations in the video?
Search Sacramento skateparks. This is Power Inn and Natomas. Don't know the addresses. School days early are best.
@@richduperbash2966awesome will check them out
What receiver will work with the stock transmitter?
Probably most Spectrum receivers 🤔. I ended up using a spare SLT3 controller and receiver.
That micro-machine scoots like a bat out of hell!
She's a little ripper 😍
Not bad for the price, I kinda like the little thing, seems really fun at the skatepark.
@@richduperbash2966 right on! Thank you much. Keep filming and I’ll keep clicking.
Hello, new at RC here. Is there a battery upgrade to extend running time? Thx in advance.
Wondering how the Spektrum Firrma motor/esc is holding up?
So far it's still going strong 👍. Haven't tested the Hobbywing setup yet, but heard it's awesome. 🍻
Do you still have your talion ? I am picking one up the EXB tomorrow I can't wait
Yes I do 🤗. Such an awesome platform. Congrats on your new EXB my friend!!!
Got one, and it broke 15 minutes in. Just flat dirt area. Rear is locked up.
That sucks 😔. I'd try and get a warranty replacement if possible. Probably a build error during production would be my guess. You could remove the center driveshaft cover to see if there's a problem at the rear input gear 🤔
How is the motor holding until now i seen alot bad reviews about that motor frying up thinking on doing it mine with the same set up
Mine has been holding up fine with the stock 18T pinion. Just had hernia surgery so I've been taking it easy 🍻
ESC m
Did you have to use different size screws for the motor mount on the spektrum setup?
Nope. I reused the same screws. The Spectrum 2435 has 3 sets of thread options to attach the mounting plate. Just picked the one that fits.
brotha! how is goin the grom so far with that set up firma? im about to do the same set up with mine!! same set up!! i see is a clean mount and its looks almost factory.
@@lonewolf6169that's so awesome to hear Brother 😱!!! The Typhon 6s is still my favorite platform of all time 😍
I'd take my team associated reflex 14mt. It can from the factory brushless. Not having to rebuild it like the groms
Yeah brushless from the factory at 139$ would've been nice, but it's an easy conversion. This thing rips hard and takes a hammering. The Hobbywing brushless setup is smoother I've found in my son's Typhon Grom 🍻
Did you have to do any modifications to get the brushless system in there? Or direct fit?
No modifications for the motor. I did use pliers to bend the motor heat sink, basically to snug it to fit the smaller diameter 2435 brushless Spectrum.
13:10 legendary proof 😉
Thank you Brother 👊. I'm glad the Spectrum 6000 is holding up so far 🍻
I missed this whole Grom thing 🙄 Not sure if I’m a fan Bra. I just don’t get it 🤔 In saying that it looks like fun. Keep it up my man love your work ✊🏼
Thanks so much Camo 😱. Been wanting a small scale for years. They're fast, squirrelly, and have crazy quick twitch handling 😂. Simply put, they're fun as heck and challenge your reflexes. Hope all is well Brother 🍻😎💪👊👊
Rock on brother 🤘
Blew the tires off of my typhon 6s on first battery. Got parts in yesterday to redo the tires.
Managed to get all tires off etc etc. put m2c extender 8mm shaft +15mm on the car.
Put 8 screws in each tire for the bigger hex adapters.
Go to toss the 2.8 proline tires on….. don’t have a tool that’ll fit into the new tire rim to tighten the nuts.
Sigh
Sounds like you need a longer 17mm T wrench. Dynamite and a couple others make them. I'll try and link you. a.co/d/3WokaHz
Legendary
That thing is fast Rich 😃!
Yes it sure is 😱🚀🚀
You’re a pretty good driver. I guess all theses guys breaking diffs and other parts must be do to bad drivers 😅
Thanks my friend 🤗. Any rig can break. Sometimes it's bad luck, but I can own most breakages from bad hits and driver error 🍻
what tires do you like the best on the truggified 6s typhon?
Probably the belted MX28 HP's from Proline.
@@richduperbash2966 Thanks Rich!
I got it yesterday. .
Congrats!!! Such a fun little ripper 😍
nice video!
Thank you Brother 😁
Is this upgradeable ? Batteries etc
Yes. You can run other suitable 2s lipos so long as their dimensions fit the tray. They also make upgraded diffs, shocks, and CVD out drives.
If you had to own one rc, what would it be and why?
Probably the Kraton 6s because it's a great go anywhere basher.
@@richduperbash2966 thank you for the reply 😊 tbh I thought you'd say your Typhon.... I hadn't considered the Kraton 👍🏽
For me the Typhon most definitely my favorite, but in general the Kraton can tackle rougher terrain 🍻

Rich I was watching your video on the fireteam basherqueen cage upgrade. Could you or would you be down to sign the stock talion body and send it to me for my daughter. She absolutely loves your UA-cam channel. I will pay for shipping and body. You would make her day.
Man I'm so honored your daughter loves the channel 😍. The Talion is actually my daughter Angie's rig. I bought it for her years ago. I'll check with her about parting with the body 🤗. I'd gladly send her something else if you hit me up on Facebook Messenger 🤙🤙ua-cam.com/video/Su4wGaOgQTQ/v-deo.htmlsi=tjy8s7kN0OnSStEt
1/18 scale
Scale is kinda subjective. Regardless, this is a perfect size to rip around and still have impressive handling and capability 😍
