- Plastic fantastic has finally reached proper screamer status with new spiral cut gears. Here's a look at key upgrades and feedback to achieve maximum power, handling, and durability with the XRT. Big shout out to M2C racing and Fast Track Hobbies in Rocklin, CA.

Awesome video Rich gave me a little motivation this morning 🤩 just in time for me to take my ass to work😢My last session with the XRT did major damage. It don’t look like it from the outside, but the more I dug in the more plastic bits were broke😂. Jennys to the rescue, love your overviews of the truck Rich nobody does it better brother. The bashing at the end was just a bonus and then Folsom lake. Just topped it all off that water looked beautiful. Looks like the water levels are coming up will it come up much farther or is that it. Thanks so very much Brother Aldo 🤗. I believe you about the internal damages 😂. These plastic rigs hide so many cracks, stripped screws, and busted upper and lower bulkheads 👀. Sometimes things just fall apart during disassembly. Thank goodness for Jenny's. Yeah the water level is definitely rising. Kinda sucks because all the lower parking and bash spots are underwater when the lake is full 😕. Truly appreciate the kind words my friend. Have a great weekend!!! 🍻😎💪👊👊

Awesome video rich! I have managed to turn my xrt into a speed run vehicle with a max5 and 1100kv combo. I have a few m2c mods on it, but original gears so far. Hit 92mph the other day. I feel like im just waiting for the monkey metal to come apart. Vitavon gears going in when they do break. Keep on bashin brother!

Was admiring your XRT land grooming of the off parking service and yesterday loaded up my rigs for a good rip and everything was under water. Was I bummed. I guess the lake is out for a while.
Yeah it sucks watching the water cover the beach and lower parking 😱. Happened very fast this season. Looking forward to drier days and the back of the lake opening up again.

Thanks Henning 🤗. I add a small O ring under the pistons on the shafts to cushion between the pistons and shock bodies. It doesn't really limit the shocks, but I think it helps protect the pistons. 🍻
She is all dialed in Rich! So many upgrades to get it to this point makes me wonder if this truck is worth it since it starts out at $1000
Thanks Aaron 🤗. That's a great question Brother. It takes quite a bit to get things sorted right. Maybe with a roller or good used deal off eBay. The XRT is overpriced per the Traxxas playbook 😂

Great content, what is your braking % set you on your esc? I have earplugs in my center diff but I am still stripping out the spider gears.
Thanks Brother 🤗. Think my brake is set at 37%. Make sure your diff isn't overfilled and perhaps check your outdrive cups for snugness. I haven't had any real issues with the spider or planetary gears fortunately.

This is the Granite Bay side of Folsom Lake 😍. This spot got covered with rising water levels days after this bash. It's just to the right of the main boat launch area.

Nice are those backflips more durable then the mx57?
They are definitely durable, but I'd say the MX57's are tops for long term durability. I get good life out of my original Backflips, but the foams can eventually let go like any unbelted tire.
Looks so smooth awesome set up, quick question I have the same set up in my Xmaxx Max 5 1100 KV 25/35 it cogs with a little trigger pull , I do have a stick Transmitter any suggestions. Happy Easter
Thank you Brother 🤗. I'd try recalibrating your ESC to your controller. It could be a throttle input issue 🤔. May experiment with a different receiver or controller if that doesn't work. 🍻

@Rich what’s your honest opinions on the chassis braces for XRT and Xmaxx man? You’re one of the hardest on this stuff so I believe YOU know if they’re an improvement or not. Curious…
Both braces are an added durability benefit no question. I'd say it's an absolute must have with the XMaxx due to the elevated center chassis pod. Because of this, the XMaxx never achieves proper chassis slap. The downward strain of doing jumps puts all the stress on the connection points between the front, middle, and rear chassis pods. The M2C brace addresses this exact issue with a brilliant internal anchoring design by Mitch. The XRT brace is also effective at protecting connection points and absorbing direct hits from rocks. Very simple upgrade too.

No I haven't, but I'm guessing 60+ mph with belted tires. Definitely fast enough for bashing without overheating.
Rich you ever have trouble with the cush drive gear cover or stripped bolts in that area? You ever use an aluminum one? What do you to to fix it if you do?
I use the stock one and just keep the bolts snugged. Less likely to strip with the Vitavon gear shaft because it's hardened steel and doesn't warp like the crappy cushdrive shaft.

Do you have anything behind your opinion gear off on the motor shaft any spacer or anything like the stock spacer thing on there or do you just kind of eyeball it and set your mesh with your spur gear?
I just line my gears up and set the mesh 👍. The key is cleaning the gear grub screw and threads with 70% isopropyl alcohol thoroughly before threadlock. I prefer Permatex Orange. This keeps the pinion right where I want it. 🍻

No plans at the moment, but I'll take a better look at it. Wish they offered rollers because I never use the VXL electronics.
New to rc when i brake my kraton 4s say like 6 ft off ground if im back heavy and try n correct she just flips, nose dives, should i lower brake setting on esc? Thanks and sweet vid.
Thanks Brother 🤗. Definitely try lowering your brake setting. My Outcast 4s was the same. Think I set mine at 37%. Getting your rigs dialed to your driving style and taste is key to maximum fun and enjoyment. Make sure to calibrate your ESC to controller via "throttle set up" in the manual. That assures the best control between neutral, throttle, and brake.

hi rich, since I mounted the 1100kv hobbywing motor which broke the rear bevel gear, or I purchased the vitavon pair, do you have any advice if I have to put shims on it, have you ever had problems with the vitavon one? thank you have a good day
Hey Brother 🤗. I don't remember using any shims with the Vitavon spiral cut gears. The input gear has a bearing retainer clip so you have to remove the upper bulkhead to install it straight downwards into the bearing channel. Great design actually. This locks the gear into place nicely 👌

Durability Kraton 6s EXB or TRAXXAS XRT? And overall which do you prefer?
Kraton 6s EXB wins with the durability hands down 💪. I like both, but the K6s is my preferred for go anywhere all around bashing 😍. It's a must have in my opinion.
All those uppgrades just to be able to catch up with a stock Arrma Kraton 8s
No kidding Brother 😂. The ARRMA's are a way better value overall 🍻
What batteries do you run?
I run mostly Ovonic 6000mah 120c 4s soft packs. They're cheap, light, and having plenty of kick. They sell in pairs on Amazon.

Have your ever i mean ever had clicking problems on your xmaxx and what did u upgrade/do to solve them
Yes I've had several clicking problems. It's usually a blown front or rear ring gear, sometimes an input gear, and rarely a chipped center diff or drive gear. The rear ring gear experiences more stress so I usually check there first. Vitavon spiral cut gears are hardened steel and way stronger than the stock monkey metal.
@@richduperbash2966 yeah, funny thing is I have your whole rig max 5 1100kv g2 35 30 shock oil 200k rear 500k front vitavon front and rear diff gears and spider gears hr diff cases and everything eliminated the rear clicking, but I have not figured out the front. Do u think it might be a bulkhead?

It's possible your front upper bulkhead is cracked allowing the gears to lose mesh under power. You'd have to remove it to know. I usually flex them in my hands to check for splits. It's kind of crazy, but problems are often hidden with Traxxas plastics.

Rich how were you running backflips on the rear and copperheads on the front?
I mixed them up because my other Backflips were old and had blown foams. The original 8s copperheads actually work quite well and are the perfect size for this rig in my opinion.
@@richduperbash2966 yeah but you had backflips on the rear and copperheads on the front at the end of the vid. They are different diameter tyres. How did you make that work with your diffs besides having you front wheels off the ground most of the time? Great bash by the way mate!
The original 8s Backflips and Copperhead SB's are basically the same height and weight. Close enough to run together. With all 4 wheels ballooning on power you wouldn't notice any difference 😂. I typically run matching tires, but already tore the foams in my surviving Backflips. 🍻
So rich everyday I change my mind I want to add another big boy to the collection but I can’t decide btwn the xrt or the xmaxx I have an outcast 8s exb so I kinda want something different I guess the xrt would be the way to go but I’m torn and undecided which do u prefer? I like to ask the big bashers what they like I don’t bash on your level I’m more of med basher I’m even considering the redcat viglante what do u think of it u getting one ?
Decisions like this are tough Brother 😂. Great to hear you already have the Outcast 8s EXB 😍. I don't know enough about the new Vigilante to make an educated opinion yet. The XRT would be my pick over the XMaxx personally. Yes the XMaxx is fun, but it's also very clumsy and likes to roll over with harder turns. It's a hokey handler compared to the XRT or Outcast for that matter. As a hobbiest, I love all my rigs for what they are. Variety is key. The XRT exceeded my expectations in the handling and balance department 👀. If you like driving fast, it has a ton of potential and really can get the power down. Really boils down to personal preference. 🍻

More than the truck is worth I'm sure 😂. Not a cheap pathway. An ARRMA Kraton 8s EXB is a far better value.
It doesn't really make any sense, when someone will make a car in which you don't need to invest a single dollar...
What do you think about new REDCAT vigilante ?
I like how nimble the xrt is vs the heavyweight kraton 8s exb but my maxx 4s left such a bad tast I’m my mouth of traxxas braking gears and bulkheads constantly and motor mount is crap. The power of the 1100 is wild but Aldo’s 10s is absolutely insanity.
I just got some vitavon bulkheads for my kraton 6s. They are awesome.
Yeah the stock motor mounts are crap on most Traxxas rigs. My Maxx V2 has been parked for about a year now 😂. Aldo loves experimenting with his rigs and higher voltage 😍. He's a great dude and tells it like he sees it 🍻
My maxx too has been park for a year or so. Got my exb in August and it is such an awesome truck. Just wanted to say that you help so much with setting up rigs and helping the community Thank you. Aldo’s channel is sure awesome he sure does if it’s good he says so and not he says it’s not.

The new O8s EXB RTR is a WAY better value 😱. Arguably more overall fun too.
How many kv should i have on a E-Revo? And how many kv on the motor if i gonna use 8s esc?🙂 P.S Was thinking about to upgrade my Infraction 6s to a 8s:)
I'd think 2000kv would be about right on the E-revo regardless of ESC. I ran 8s with my Infraction awhile back with a 1250kv ARRMA 8s motor geared up. Ultimately it was faster and more responsive going back to 6s with a TP4050 2300kv and Spectrum 160A ESC. Think she's geared around 18/50. My 8s setup was heavy and just ripped through tires. 6s hauls ass and handles way better all around. 🍻

I'm not sure, but the XRT has weak points without upgrading. It's a blast with bigger power and the right setup 😱🚀🚀
Probably closer to $3000, unfortunately. 1k before tax just for the bone stock rig. All the M2C and Vitavon upgrades he has on there, plus the HW 1100kv motor and 200amp ESC, wheels, and bats. Yea, expect to be well over 2k. I have 8s Arrma rigs that are much closer to 3k than 2k, all in with upgrades. Not trying to throw any shade, or scare you away from getting into it. Just being real. Its unfortunate how much these total up to, just to make them durable enough to bash em', without breaking something every time you take it out. However, Rich does extreme bashing. Most of us don't go that hard in the paint, lol. You certainly would not have to get all those upgrades to have fun with the truck. Especially if you're not going to be extreme bashing. But it's def more fun when you do!🤙🤙
You have more in upgrades than the price of the car, by 2x at least.

The XRT is overpriced to come with junk gears and several weak spots. I didn't spend twice the cost in upgrades, but did modify her to my liking and used electronics and tires I already had.

So the TRAXXAS XRT arrives broken, is made of inferior parts...why would anyone buy it? Right, no reason.
It took serious patience and persistent and upgrades to make this thing right. Hopefully Traxxas steps it up in future models, but I doubt it.
