Yes, you guys are right, I was wrong to rank missions like The Coup and Black Cats at the the bottom just because you dont have any input in them, specially because they're cinematic as f#ck 2. No, I do not hate Cod4, in fact on Steam alone I have nearly 50 hours of playtime, and that's just in the campaign. But I think we got some real gems in newer games in the series that dont get nearly as much attention as they should. If I were to rank campaigns as a whole then Cod4 would definetly be in the top 3 at least, but in terms of ranking each level on its own some of Modern Warfare's missions (i think) fall behind. The same goes for other older titles. 3. And yes, not including the classic World War 2 titles in the ranking was a bummer which I intend to correct in the future. To be honest I really enjoy a lot off the cod 4 missions. It feels like a full scale battle with having to slowly push up with your team, might not be the most exciting but I find them satisfying
I disagree with putting revelations from bo1 extremely low on the list, sure its doesnt have the best gameplay of any mission but, unlike aftermath from mw, i dont think it could be left out. When i think of black ops 1’s campaign i think of revelations just because of all it revealed and how mind boggling it was to reveal the interrogator and finally get out of the chair. But in the end, this is ur video, ur opinion, otherwise this is actually a really good video, keep up the great content
Yeah I get where you're coming from. The whole level is one awesome cinematic spectacle. There are two other levels in the franchise which are very similar to black cats if you wanna check them out. One is "Bomber" in COD United Offensive and the other is "Liberators" in COD Big Red One
Eh Black Cats is literally just a generic on-rails shooter mission, gameplay wise its no different from any of the other on-rails attack plane/helicopter missions in other CoD games
My favorite mission will always be Project Nova from Black Ops 1. The storytelling and the way its written feels like you're reading lines off of a book. Its also perfect for the pacing of the Bo1 campaign as sticking it in the middle helps break apart the constant Cold War-era action, as well as establishing the origins and despicable nature of our antagonists which sets up the second half of bo1 to be a triumphant takedown. Truly a masterpiece
Hunted is my least favorite COD4 mission that is more than a tutorial level, I agree with your viewpoint there. It’s not bad but for some reason it’s just the least memorable part of the campaign. Birds Of Prey is also my least favorite Ghosts mission. This video has inspired me to try and rank the missions as I go through my current play through.
Really disagree with the 2nd to last one. « Aftermath » is vital to the entire MW trilogy. General Sheppard, the guy commanding all 30,000 men was obviously destroyed by it, causing him to fall into the hands of Makarov. Yuri decided enough was enough after that because of that incident, causing him to be shot and left for dead by Makarov which would cause him to join Captain Price and Soap to take him down. And it continues to go on, but I can’t type too well in mobile. I’m just saying that the point you made where removing it would change nothing is completely false.
Yeah you're right, perhaps I was too harsh in my choice of words, but I meant that more in terms of gameplay. And in terms of the story, I wasn't saying that the nuclear blast means nothing, just that that scene itself could be removed without losing any information. The explosion would still have happened in the prior level.
Everything that you stated still would happen even if the mission never existed. In the mission prior the bomb goes off and your chopper goes down. The only thing that Aftermath does is confirm your character’s death. Is it quite literally the “Aftermath” of the prior mission.
I disagree with you analysis on Hometown, however, I respect it. I can’t argue with your points on it, it just doesn’t hit me in the same way. For me COD has always tried to shine a light on the horrors of war for people who might not normally search that kind of news. But I understand it not hitting the same way for everyone.
I agree with you that COD, and games in general, shouldn't shy away from addressing serious topics including the horrors of war. But the way they did it in the case of Hometown was dishonest and sometimes disrespectful to the thousands of people that went through similar situations in cities like Aleppo and Mosul. They could have portrayed it better, but the game is still great.
@@mowgli4169 I haven’t kept up with every news story for those particular events, and that’s on me. I’m not as informed as I should be. When I played through the game I didn’t feel like they were trying to say everyone went through that or that it spoke for real events. I just took it as what happened to these particular characters. I know I’m not an authority on the situation, so if someone who does know more about it finds it offensive such as yourself, I won’t argue with you. I get it.
Hey COD campaign fan buddy! Just leaving a like & comment. Hope they never get rid of cod campaigns, story mode is in its DNA, if forgettable. But top tier moments are heard by people that dont play games... That says something! Cheers
Damn you did a lot of the missions dirty in the beginning. I know your judging the missions heavily on gameplay but to me putting this classic missions at the end seems like you think that if the missions were gone they wouldn’t impact the story or the game. Without going into depth about grounding and pacing, I just wanted to shed some light on a few missions. Hometown, as strange as the mission was, was a good story beat for the main characters, a unique inside look of the Middle East civilization being attacked by bigger and more well funded armies(portrayed beautifully), and a change in gameplay. If this mission didn’t exist then the player wouldn’t know why Farrah and Hadir have a close relationship, and would have to suffer through the game with the same ol point and shoot gameplay. With Aftermath, Relations, and the Coup, it’s 100 times better to play through these missions and get immersed in the setting/universe then watching a cutscene or getting told about these events in exposition. Without the Coup the player would just be thrown into COD 4 guns blazing and not be grounded in the setting. Imagine starting up the game and you hear from your teammate “Al-Asad and Zhekeav just killed a president go stop them” Bo1 is nothing without Revelations. If you take it out black ops 1 would have been no better than bo3 Tell me you weren’t immersed during your first playthrough during the nuke in aftermath and felt a chill up your spine as you watched your character slowly die . And I could get behind why you put these missions last but after black cats and no fighting in the war room, ya done lost me. If you have the time I’d like to see more elaboration for these first few ^^ Thanks^~^

I mean, I just thought of taking the ones with the least player input first just to organize the list in my head, but you're right, I remember a lot more and much rather replay The Coup for example over some other bland repetitive level
What was your reasoning not to include any of the CODs prior to COD 4 in the list? I think those are the most underrated CODs that don’t get the love they deserve. Then again, it could be nostalgia cause I grew up on those CODs lol.

Sorry but putting hometown last is awful it's a great mission extremely powerful and I don't know what you expected from a cod game it's not sunshine and rainbows and using kids really shows how horrific war is

I’m sorry but black cats being 178 is fucking laughable it’s such a bad take, probably one of the coolest if not THE coolest turret based mission ever made with the atmosphere, music and just general mission layout, it’s probably in my top 3 missions of waw, seriously, I hate the term objective but this is objectively a trash take
I'm just glad there's some recognition for Black ops 3. The story is there, I like it more than most people would because I play zombies and I actually enjoy the zombies storyline, which A, means I'm autistic, and B it means that I actually understand the story. In the story is pretty damn good for what it is, the story is pretty simple but the problem is that most people, don't want to go on a scavenger hunt for their cookie cutter campaign, an example being and this is spoilers for bo3 Okay so if you don't care about spoilers you're here, that's just an example I'm not going over the whole thing but you die in the first level, after the first level Black ops 3 you're literally dead instead you play the rest of the game inside of Taylor's memories as Taylor as he desperately tries to save you. It gets a tiny bit more complicated than that because your perception of what's happening should be switched because Taylor and (I'll replace this when i remember his name) are, switched. And it's actually a story about Taylor, Taylor is the main character. Not you, but you're also Taylor. It's interesting. But people completely forget that the gameplay was a perfect evolution of Black ops 2, minus the choices, but I consider nightmare mode a decent enough replacement for branching storyline, being able to customize your classes that in depth, is flat out amazing. People praise infinite warfare for doing that, when Black ops 3 did it first and way more in-depth. I believe this was also the first introduction of a fifth difficulty mode, "realistic" which isn't revolutionary put a lot of games borrowed from the idea. No I'm not saying that Black ops 3 deserves to be all the best campaign of all time, no. Hell as much as I think the modern warfare campaigns are meh, because I grew up watching war Cinema, so the idea of modern warfare was not alien to me like it was for the people who played the old school games, I think that bo3 deserves to be under the (og) modern warfare games. But people claim it's the worst campaign ever for one reason and they refuse to look at the other positives of The campaign which it exudes with a ton of. I guess what I'm saying is that if you haven't played bo3 in a while, give it a go with an open mind and maybe watch a lore video lol. You'll appreciate it a lot more.
As far as the driving part in no fighting the the war room i think its unfair that u say its been used ìn other cod games when this was made way before the other games were even made so u should consider the missions realese date and not compare to the standard of the newer games ans it is unfair. You lost me after you trashed home town. Obviously it was meant to spark emotions to make you want to kill the bad guys and also does an amazing job at showing what the horrors of war are actually like. This is a fictional story and if it affects you that much then don’t play 😂
I’m sorry I don’t want to bash on an old video and a smaller channel. But I was only able to make it 5 mins b4 I regretted clicking on it, I understand everyone has their own opinion but theirs also right and wrong answers. The fact that yu put so many BO1 , WAW and COD 4 “non playable missions” is absolutely disgraceful. Those are cinematic informational cutscenes very integral to the game itself, yu should have not placed or ranked them. And the fact that so many of the new CODs (2018,2019,2020,2021) and still tru to this day, have so much filler that Yu basically don’t want to play the game no more because it’s out of the way FILLER and tedious non linear gameplay that it wouldn’t matter if it made the story or not it’s it’s their go fill time. I’m sorry I understand yu put a lot of work in on this and it’s old but this is outta pocket, I would much rather play over and over again those “cut scenes” and the mission black cats then play 30 mins of the past 5 years of COD, I love intense missions and missions very in depth but it’s supposed to be a rollercoaster and those “cinematic cuts” are what give yu a chance to relax take it all in and then BANG you have a gun pointed at JFKs head.. (again with all due respect) you’re wrong and that’s my opinion
Bro managed to bash F.E.A.R., a game that's infinitely better than any CoD is, and throw CoD4 and WaW under the bus in this list. I thought this was going to be a good video when you bashed the shallow portrayal of militarism and war crimes in MW19's campaign in last place, but I was very, very wrong. Ain't no way you've finished any of these games on veteran. The list would be completely different if you had. A majority of the most memorable CoD levels are all in the bottom half of this list.

Yeah I get where you're coming from. The whole level is one awesome cinematic spectacle. There are two other levels in the franchise which are very similar to black cats if you wanna check them out. One is "Bomber" in COD United Offensive and the other is "Liberators" in COD Big Red One

My favorite mission will always be Project Nova from Black Ops 1. The storytelling and the way its written feels like you're reading lines off of a book. Its also perfect for the pacing of the Bo1 campaign as sticking it in the middle helps break apart the constant Cold War-era action, as well as establishing the origins and despicable nature of our antagonists which sets up the second half of bo1 to be a triumphant takedown. Truly a masterpiece

Hunted is my least favorite COD4 mission that is more than a tutorial level, I agree with your viewpoint there. It’s not bad but for some reason it’s just the least memorable part of the campaign. Birds Of Prey is also my least favorite Ghosts mission. This video has inspired me to try and rank the missions as I go through my current play through.
Federation Day from ghosts is probably my favourite cod level in the whole series, glad to see it so high up

Really disagree with the 2nd to last one. « Aftermath » is vital to the entire MW trilogy. General Sheppard, the guy commanding all 30,000 men was obviously destroyed by it, causing him to fall into the hands of Makarov. Yuri decided enough was enough after that because of that incident, causing him to be shot and left for dead by Makarov which would cause him to join Captain Price and Soap to take him down. And it continues to go on, but I can’t type too well in mobile. I’m just saying that the point you made where removing it would change nothing is completely false.
Yeah you're right, perhaps I was too harsh in my choice of words, but I meant that more in terms of gameplay. And in terms of the story, I wasn't saying that the nuclear blast means nothing, just that that scene itself could be removed without losing any information. The explosion would still have happened in the prior level.
Everything that you stated still would happen even if the mission never existed. In the mission prior the bomb goes off and your chopper goes down. The only thing that Aftermath does is confirm your character’s death. Is it quite literally the “Aftermath” of the prior mission.

I disagree with you analysis on Hometown, however, I respect it. I can’t argue with your points on it, it just doesn’t hit me in the same way. For me COD has always tried to shine a light on the horrors of war for people who might not normally search that kind of news. But I understand it not hitting the same way for everyone.
I agree with you that COD, and games in general, shouldn't shy away from addressing serious topics including the horrors of war. But the way they did it in the case of Hometown was dishonest and sometimes disrespectful to the thousands of people that went through similar situations in cities like Aleppo and Mosul. They could have portrayed it better, but the game is still great.

When I played through the game I didn’t feel like they were trying to say everyone went through that or that it spoke for real events. I just took it as what happened to these particular characters. I know I’m not an authority on the situation, so if someone who does know more about it finds it offensive such as yourself, I won’t argue with you. I get it.

Sorry, but my favorite CoD campaigns are the classics, when you played as a regular infantry soldier in WW2. I really miss those levels.
Damn you did a lot of the missions dirty in the beginning. I know your judging the missions heavily on gameplay but to me putting this classic missions at the end seems like you think that if the missions were gone they wouldn’t impact the story or the game. Without going into depth about grounding and pacing, I just wanted to shed some light on a few missions.
Hometown, as strange as the mission was, was a good story beat for the main characters, a unique inside look of the Middle East civilization being attacked by bigger and more well funded armies(portrayed beautifully), and a change in gameplay. If this mission didn’t exist then the player wouldn’t know why Farrah and Hadir have a close relationship, and would have to suffer through the game with the same ol point and shoot gameplay.
With Aftermath, Relations, and the Coup, it’s 100 times better to play through these missions and get immersed in the setting/universe then watching a cutscene or getting told about these events in exposition. Without the Coup the player would just be thrown into COD 4 guns blazing and not be grounded in the setting. Imagine starting up the game and you hear from your teammate “Al-Asad and Zhekeav just killed a president go stop them”
Bo1 is nothing without Revelations. If you take it out black ops 1 would have been no better than bo3
Tell me you weren’t immersed during your first playthrough during the nuke in aftermath and felt a chill up your spine as you watched your character slowly die .
And I could get behind why you put these missions last but after black cats and no fighting in the war room, ya done lost me. If you have the time I’d like to see more elaboration for these first few ^^

I mean, I just thought of taking the ones with the least player input first just to organize the list in my head, but you're right, I remember a lot more and much rather replay The Coup for example over some other bland repetitive level

The story is there, I like it more than most people would because I play zombies and I actually enjoy the zombies storyline, which A, means I'm autistic, and B it means that I actually understand the story. In the story is pretty damn good for what it is, the story is pretty simple but the problem is that most people, don't want to go on a scavenger hunt for their cookie cutter campaign, an example being and this is spoilers for bo3
Okay so if you don't care about spoilers you're here, that's just an example I'm not going over the whole thing but you die in the first level, after the first level Black ops 3 you're literally dead instead you play the rest of the game inside of Taylor's memories as Taylor as he desperately tries to save you. It gets a tiny bit more complicated than that because your perception of what's happening should be switched because Taylor and (I'll replace this when i remember his name) are, switched. And it's actually a story about Taylor, Taylor is the main character. Not you, but you're also Taylor. It's interesting.
But people completely forget that the gameplay was a perfect evolution of Black ops 2, minus the choices, but I consider nightmare mode a decent enough replacement for branching storyline, being able to customize your classes that in depth, is flat out amazing. People praise infinite warfare for doing that, when Black ops 3 did it first and way more in-depth.
I believe this was also the first introduction of a fifth difficulty mode, "realistic" which isn't revolutionary put a lot of games borrowed from the idea.
No I'm not saying that Black ops 3 deserves to be all the best campaign of all time, no. Hell as much as I think the modern warfare campaigns are meh, because I grew up watching war Cinema, so the idea of modern warfare was not alien to me like it was for the people who played the old school games, I think that bo3 deserves to be under the (og) modern warfare games.
But people claim it's the worst campaign ever for one reason and they refuse to look at the other positives of The campaign which it exudes with a ton of.
I guess what I'm saying is that if you haven't played bo3 in a while, give it a go with an open mind and maybe watch a lore video lol. You'll appreciate it a lot more.

I’m sorry I don’t want to bash on an old video and a smaller channel. But I was only able to make it 5 mins b4 I regretted clicking on it, I understand everyone has their own opinion but theirs also right and wrong answers. The fact that yu put so many BO1 , WAW and COD 4 “non playable missions” is absolutely disgraceful. Those are cinematic informational cutscenes very integral to the game itself, yu should have not placed or ranked them. And the fact that so many of the new CODs (2018,2019,2020,2021) and still tru to this day, have so much filler that Yu basically don’t want to play the game no more because it’s out of the way FILLER and tedious non linear gameplay that it wouldn’t matter if it made the story or not it’s it’s their go fill time. I’m sorry I understand yu put a lot of work in on this and it’s old but this is outta pocket, I would much rather play over and over again those “cut scenes” and the mission black cats then play 30 mins of the past 5 years of COD, I love intense missions and missions very in depth but it’s supposed to be a rollercoaster and those “cinematic cuts” are what give yu a chance to relax take it all in and then BANG you have a gun pointed at JFKs head.. (again with all due respect) you’re wrong and that’s my opinion
