3/2020 finally found a Jeep done correctly . A+ bud, hold onto that gem for a long time .
David Lorince Thanks my dude, that means a lot to me. I will never get rid of this Jeep, it is my prized possession that has taken me further than anything else in this life.
@@98ZJ318 I just bought another 1997 JGC 87048 miles one owner with the 5.2 318 and now time lets her breath showing what's she can really do, basics since in will be my daily driver, it was a gem the lady just got here from Ohio and she was interview asked why so low price and she said cause it needed thousands to get to pass emissions and a super god skill DEEP cleaning. Needless to say I bough it for $600. Cash solid body absolutely zero rust. New Nobby tires step up from the boring OEM ones. Stiffen always around aporoux 1" down in from 3/4" in rear just to try it out no biggie i test drive it and itvflies, shifts flawless and thread and heat work perfectly she even out there & installed the rare 5.9 sound bar in the back with a custom small 10" JLw3 hidden and I got wow quality sound balanced perfectly thanks to Dynomat tomake the acoustics flawless with absolutely nothing to sound kiss from buzzing door hid trunks license plate Plates is a complete waste of time and money just to sound like garbage . Anyways for Mods I want to do a mid-grade Cam, headers, exhaust, professional tune. Entire Fuel system upgrades and a few more many tricks I will not be releasing , Best part the old lady still has the plastic covering the back seats! Flawless the fronts are damn near mint u was literally brown away. Passenger seat is a 9.5/10 and the Driverseat actually hade a over it since he bought it off the lot. Driverseat uneasily a 9.5/10 best part all electronics work flawless and whilst makes this the Mack daddy is that it has the ultra double plush triple threat padded interior. Absolutely breathtaking when u saw this walking by her house. Now 6 months later her and my family are all real best friends .
@@98ZJ318 what all modifications did you do
@@ytgamer5247 Full mods list in the description.
@98ZJ318 can you send me the link to the long tube headers pls I’ve been looking for some can’t find any anyways I love your zj it’s a beast love the cam.
I love this sound of magnum engines
I love this look on the jeep. I purchased a 98’ Jeep Grand Cherokee limited 5.2 liter in 2020 and I’m excited because it runs well but of course I want it to perform on an entire different scale! Checkin in from Memphis,tn
The baddest grand Cherokee alive.
Thank you brother, I appreciate that. It's not the fastest ZJ in the world, but for an N/A street ZJ set up it's close to perfect. The only weight reduction left to do is subwoofer delete, front passenger seat delete, and A/C delete.
really nice jeep, I have a 98 limited with a 5.2 with 89,000 miles and a tan interior, these jeeps are so incredibly nice for their time and even in todays time they are still super nice. This build seems to be done really well and Ive been considering trying to make mine like yours.
Thanks bro, I agree these Jeeps are way ahead of their time and they aged gracefully. 89,000 miles is extremely low for a 98 5.2 ZJ, take care of it and keep it for as long as possible.
The black shadow omg❤❤
I'm 18 and I bought my 97 5.2 for 800 when I was 15. I've put some work into her. Steering rebuild, new brake system, and a new power steering system. She has some rust but the Frame is in good condition. Steering is still floaty, but everything runs smooth. Tranny is shifts smoothly as long as it's up to temp. And she's never had any major work except what I mentioned. Also these engine's are tanks because I believe my spark plugs and wire are somewhere over 5 years old. I can only hope to get my jeep to this level someday.
Sounds good brother, keep up the good work with the Jeep. ZJs are extremely reliable, I have had one in my family since 1996. I have never been left stranded in my 5.9 ZJ or my 5.2 ZJ. They are really easy to work on yourself and respond well to modifications. The biggest issue on these Jeeps is the transmission. When you start throwing more power at a stock 44RE / 46RE they usually need a higher stall converter, shift kit, and possibly a full rebuild to handle the extra power. Once all components are dialed in these Jeeps are quick and fast. The fastest ZJ in the world runs a 9.79 on a 387 stroker with nitrous at around 700 HP using a Torqueflite 727 transmission. The fastest supercharged Trackhawk in the world runs a 9.0 with a 3.0L Whipple supercharger at around 1000 HP. The ZJ is much lighter so it has the power to weight ratio advantage. I would like to see a 6.1 / 6.4 / Hellcat swapped ZJ one day, I have already seen a few LS swapped ZJs. A modern Hemi in a ZJ would be next level acceleration and performance.
I have the 5.2 limited as well and im obsessed with this build
Thank you brother
Wow. Beautiful my man. This is perfect
Thank you brother, I truly appreciate that.
CLEANEST and COOLEST sounding 5.9 ever heard
The Oxzion Thanks a lot man, I appreciate it. This is a built 5.2 Limited with the 5.9 hood and the 5.9 grille, not a 5.9 Limited. I also own a genuine 5.9 Limited that is mildly modified so life is great.
98ZJ318 they haul ass or what?
@@Sheeeepz They haul more ass than a bus full of sluts
Absolutely love this build. I have a 95 5.2 Laredo myself. Needs some work but I can't wait to work on it
Thank you brother
Just found you on a 5.9 vid, must say this thing sounds great at idle, but your not sleeping on anyone sounding like that at the track bud! Not anymore. Sounds like 280 HP to the crank now, and it sounds great! Love the channel and the content, your 5.2 ZJ is the same color as my 98 5.9er.. awesome channel sub for sure.
Thank you brother, this is an ongoing build since 2009. All it really needs is a new stall converter to help with the extra torque off of the line since doing the heads/cam combo in 2012. The fact that it still has the stock torque converter and still runs almost flawlessly after all these years still amazes me. After the 2400 stall converter gets installed in the 44RE, the powertrain is going to be fully dialed in.
Love the cam sounds mean 👌🏾
Thank you brother, it's got a healthy chop.
Sounds good. I'm in the process or restoring and tuning up my dad's old 1998 5.9.
THAT WAS JUST THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SOUND EVER...
This is dope I’m trying to get my hands on one of these !
Thank you brother, ZJs are great vehicles with plenty of upgrades available for more power and you can choose to lift it, lower it, or leave it at the stock height. They are small and lightweight compared to modern SUVs and they look and sound amazing. You can’t go wrong.
currently have a 97 5.2 in green, but this thing looks killer all blacked out. Definitely will keep my eyes out for the next black Grand C.
Thank you brother, all black everything always looks the meanest.
How did you manage to fit the Kooks LT headers? I thought the Doug Thorley headers were the only ones that fit in the ZJs
The Doug Thorley Tri-Y Headers are a mid length header, I run them on my full bolt on 5.9 ZJ. They are the only remaining headers that you can buy for a ZJ. I had the Kooks Long Tubes custom fabricated at Kooks old facility in Bay Shore, New York in early 2009. A few months after that they moved their shop to Statesville, North Carolina which is where they still are to this day. It was just a matter of luck that right at that time was when I was doing headers and a full exhaust on my 5.2 ZJ. I went with Kooks because they are the best headers in my opinion and they were the closest legit exhaust shop near me.
Dang, that's clean! I also have a Jeep ZJ 5.2 and fear engine rebuild time is sooner than anticipated. I plan to get a mild cam, upgraded valvetrain, upgraded injectors, fuel rail, and fuel pump, an Edelbrock intake manifold, and maybe a Holly throttle body if i have some money to throw around.
Thank you brother, that sounds like a plan for a good build. You will get some decent power gains from all of the parts that you mentioned. I have everything you mentioned on my 5.2 ZJ except for aftermarket fuel rails and instead of the Hughes/Edelbrock AirGap Intake Manifold I have the Mopar M1. I have the Hughes/Edelbrock AirGap on my 5.9 ZJ, those intakes are also good but better for low to mid range power. The M1 is better for mid to top end power but it was discontinued by Mopar.
@@98ZJ318 Yeah it really needs a little extra nudge. It’d be lucky to be making 200HP at 25 years old now lol
@@tjthackeray2480 A stock 5.2 ZJ usually dynos at around 180 - 190 wheel hp so that's probably an accurate statement.
Now this is neat! Makes my corvette sound weak
Thank you brother, it sounds like a muscle car but it can be driven through heavy snow and rain without any issues. I was thinking about selling this Jeep and my 5.9 Limited in order to eventually get a C6 Z06, The LS7 sounds better than every other V8 in the world.
soooooo.... when do we get to see a racing video of with this beautiful beast?
Sounds Healthy
David Wahler Thanks
Know where this jeep is I need more videos I can’t find anymore jeep done like this
Nice looking and sounding ZJ man, I have a 94 with a 5.2 with lots of mods too, but not as many on the engine as yours, would like to something along the lines of this sounds pretty mean, would have liked a little rev, but that idle though, damn...
Damn bro that's a beautiful Jeep, can you point me in the directions of some upgrades. Got 5.2 myself that needs some love lol
I got da same Jeep same color n everything but I just got flowmasters but I want mine 2 sound like dis
Murdered out 360 block ZJ love it
Thanks brother but it's not a 5.9 360. As it says in the title, this is a built 5.2 Limited (5.2 318 bored .040" over to 5.3) with a heads/cam and full bolt on set up and it also has the 5.9 Grille and the 5.9 Hood. I also own an authentic Platinum 5.9 Limited with full bolt ons and it's my daily driver.
What kind of cam kit did u use i must know plz 🙏
Sweet sound
Thank you brother
My jeep build is going to be insane. Stay tuned I will be making a channel for it soon!
Did you ever run into any clearance issues with the valves running that size cam and the 1.7 HS rockers? Is it the stock stall torque converter still? Sorry for all the questions I’m rebuilding the top end on the 5.2 Jeep again and I’m going bigger this time. Love your Jeep bro!
Thank you brother. No clearance issues with the bigger cam and the 1.7 roller rockers. The Jeep still has the stock torque converter.
Thanks man that’s what I figured, everyone keeps saying I’ll have issues with clearance and that I need to change my stall. My new cam will be fairly close to the same size as yours.
Do you throw check engine light codes with that cam
About how much horse power are you pushing?? I have a 5.2 magnum and I have honestly been looking to bore her out to 5.3 or 5.4. I may take some things from your list and consider them in my build for my ram 1500
Around 360 - 380 crank HP and around 290 - 310 wheel HP. I have never gotten it dynoed but I have seen similar builds on the dyno and that is what they made.
Nice Wish mine sounded like that mine sounds like an old exhaust leaking chevy lol
That sounds awesome
Thank you brother
Thats sickkk
How did you tint side headlight/ turn signal? Ive seen some online that dont look too good so Im wondering if there is a better solution out there.
Ian Sander The signals and corners were sprayed with VHT Niteshades.
Hey man i absolutely love the jeep!!! I just bought a 5.9 and i Would love to know what you have done to this and what engine mods you know of for the 5.9 and yes i know this is the 318 but i know you have a 5.9 to.
Join 98 jeep grand cherokee 5.9 group for registered owners on Facebook I'm in there myself alot of helpful people and good family for nineer owners
Wasup man Nice zj you’ve got. I have one with the same engine but mines is lifted you see and I want to get more power for the trails. I know this is an older video but where did you find these camshafts on the Internet?
Thank you brother. The cam in my Jeep (208/214 .520"/.560" 110 LSA) is from HughesEngines.com
Also would 5k be a good price for one with 116k miles?
Where did you get those rims bro, currently trying to finish my jeep
What cam and components do you have on it im building a zj 5.2 myself and I would like to know what’s done it
The cam is from Hughes Engines, the specs are 208/214 .520"/.560" 110 LSA. Full supporting mods for that cam so lifters, upgraded valve springs on RHS cylinder heads, Harland Sharp 1.7 Roller Rockers, SCT Tune. It's a Heads/Cam Full Bolt On set up. Too many parts to name, the only things I haven't done is forged internals or a 392 stroker kit and a supercharger or turbocharger but i'm leaving it N/A.
What condition was this one in when you purchased it? What has the process been to get it to this point?
I got this Jeep in September of 2007 with 80,000 miles and in mint condition. I started modifying it in 2009 with a K&N intake, Holley 2 x 52mm throttle body, MSD Ignition wires, coil, and ignition box, electric fan conversion, Kooks long tube headers, and a full 3" exhaust. At the end of 2010 the original 318 blew at 96,000 miles. In early 2011 I ended up getting a 318 bored .040 over to about 326ci (324.5ci to be exact). After the fresh engine I continued the build with an NP242 transfer case swap (4WD or RWD), Mopar M1 aluminum intake manifold, Harland Sharp 1.7 roller rockers, 24 lb injectors, March underdrive crank pulley, H&R lowering springs, Bilstein 4600 series shocks, Addco front & rear sway bars, and PowerStop cross-drilled/slotted rotors with PowerStop brake pads. Then in 2013 I did the heads/cam combo along with an SCT Tuner required for the 110 LSA cam. I haven't done anything to the engine since 2013, just added some extra things for drag racing such as Hurst line lock, MSD digital 2 step, TransGo shift kit, and Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S 255/60-15 drag radials. I have lowered the Jeep as much as possible by cutting 2 coils off of the H&R lowering springs. I have also done some weight reduction by removing the rear seats and roof racks along with 15x7 lightweight ZJ canyon rims. The 15" rims are lighter than the stock 16" rims, the NP242 is much lighter than the factory NP249 transfer case, the long tube headers are much lighter than the stock exhaust manifolds, and the aluminum intake manifold is much lighter than the stock iron intake manifold. Altogether it is a nice and really fun somewhat lightweight street truck that would be decent at the track due to all of the mods.
Ever run it down the quarter mile ? Or a 0-60 time? Really interested
WHAT KIND OF LIGHTS DO YOU HAVE AND HOW MANY WATTS OR ON YOUR HEADLIGHTS & FOG LIGHTS
So to get that sound, I would need heads, exhaust mods and headers and cam?
Yea, those mods plus the supporting mods.
Could you install all LED's without error Code or did ya have to install a resistor?
You won't get any error codes but from my experience if you put LED bulbs in your front turn signals you will get hyperflash when you use the blinker. This can be resolved with a resistor but I never got around to installing one.
Звук как кровь для сердца .
What type rima do You have size everything ?
What kind of HP are you pushing with that setup? Just got the same cam for my 5.9 eventually going to be a similar setup to yours.
Never got it dynoed but estimated 360 - 380 crank HP and 290 - 310 wheel hp with the heads/cam and full bolt on set up.
@98ZJ318 who did your tune? Did a 5.9 swap on my zj identical cam need it to run right lol
Hello , I own a '96 5.2 ZJ with 66.000 Miles, what modifications I should do to make it sound like this?
Damn, that is very low mileage. Heads/Cam/Full Bolt Ons/Straight Pipe is how to make a 5.2/5.9 V8 Magnum sound like this with the heavy chop.
@@98ZJ318 Hmm I already have a "straight pipe" (I only have the catalyser) and is already too loud to drive at night, will this increase loudness too?
@@dejanu551 Yes, these modifications will make it louder.
Hey man I recently bought one and I’m having issues with the back the feeling kind of jumpy would you know anything about it ?
Sounds like it could be the shocks
So cleannnnnnn 😮😢
What calipers are you running with those powerstop rotors?
Can you get me the parts number for the kooks headers and y pipe, in the market for headers on my zj, but Doug thorleys are pricey
Do you have long tube headers? Or just Shorty headers?
Kooks 1 5/8” Long Tube Headers
Sounds great. MOPAR2YA 🇺🇸
fucking finally! awesome jeep!
put it on thespeedfreaks.net! and let us see some accelerations!
How much in total cost?
wheel and tire set up ?
Look like land rover 😎
Full bolt ons , heads and cam but single exhaust? Doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose?
What part number are the kooks headers? I cant find anything for a magnum engine.
There is no part number for these headers, I have the only set of Kooks longtubes in the world for a ZJ. Got them custom fabricated at Kooks old facility in Bay Shore, New York in early 2009. In mid 2009, they moved their facility to Statesville, North Carolina and have been there ever since. I got lucky with the timing of them moving and when i needed headers for my 5.2 ZJ.
@@98ZJ318 damn thats lucky. I just ordered some hedman block huggers for an LA small block that supposedly work. I have to make my own piping from the headers back though.
Are you still using the stock computer?
Yea, it's re-flashed with an SCT Tuner.
Pretty sure 5.9 only came with that hood in the jeeps. Couldnt see the grill but if its wired then its a 5.9. Not a 5.2.
The title of the video is correct. This is a 98 5.2 Limited with the 5.9 hood, 5.9 grille, and the 5.9 rear sound bar. I also own a Platinum 5.9 Limited with full bolt ons. This Jeep is Black. The 5.9 Limited only came in 3 colors: Stone White, Bright Platinum, and Deep Slate.
What kind of 24lbs injectors do u use
Bosch
The jeep srt before the jeep srt
Technically the grandfather to the SRT8 Jeep was the 5.9 Limited which I also own with full bolt ons
Where did you get you vent hood...I'm been trying to get some for my jeep
It’s a 5.9 V8 only year they made them
Can i use this cam with stock roller rockers?
I'm sure you can but it would be better with upgraded 1.6 or 1.7 ratio roller rockers
Pqp que linda! Parabéns!
Where u buy ur oil transsmision cooler?
On this Jeep I have a factory ZJ Transmission Oil Cooler from someone's 96 5.2 ZJ that converted to a 5 speed manual, on my 5.9 ZJ I have a Hayden Transmission Oil Cooler that I got from SummitRacing.com
Does anyone know what taillights does he have ? I need to buy some for my Jeep
They are factory taillights tinted with VHT Nightshades.

What springs u put in it for the cam
The RHS Indy X Cylinder Heads came assembled with valve springs already installed, not sure on the type but they are stronger and stiffer than stock valve springs.
What did you tune it with?
SCT Tuner
What kind of power is it making and how hard is it to tune
@@georgewilson2135 Never had it dynoed but it's estimated at 360 - 380 crank HP and 290 - 310 wheel HP. I just sent Hughes Engines my mod list and they sent a base tune on the SCT Tuner. As far as more in depth tuning, I have never data-logged the Jeep or had it dyno tuned since it was built. Apparently FlyinRyan is the best tuner for these engines from what I have seen and heard.
