I have a CX-50 and my brother has a CX-5! You can’t go wrong with either! Great video Ben!
I like them both. I believe the CX-5 is made in Japan
I test drove both the CX-50 and CX-5 but ended up buying the CX-5 for the same reasons you mentioned in your conclusion. Better interior finishes and price with all things being equal. I liked sitting a bit higher up too. Another deciding factor was that the CX-50 seems to still be working out early model glitches and TSB’s.
Cx 50’s screen is touchscreen when you connect to Apple CarPlay or android auto
I like the rugged design of the 50 but hate that the turbo has awful stop/start. The 5 is built in Japan and with their chip shortage there’s no stop/start or cylinder deactivation so that’s a win win for engine longevity.
Brian_Eugene_LeeMazdas diesels are piss poor compared to their gas engines in every way.
CX-50 lower, wider, longer ftw. Own one and test drove both. CX-50 felt better driving and love the sinister look it has in pearl white with the black accents. It also has a lot more exterior touches.
Both are top of their class for $45k. Easily better than their competitors, and in some ways better than entry model luxury cars that cost $10k more.
I like both, but the plastic body cladding ruins the CX-50 for me. This price range should have less plastic, not more. I’m guessing that the profit margin is better on CX-50 because of this. At least give the customer a choice like they do on the CX-5. 12:56 12:56
CX-5 built in Hiroshima Japan, CX-50 built in Huntsville, AL. Take your pick. Japanese levels of QC on the CX-5 or larger size with the CX-50. 2.5L engine and no messing around with hybrids for Mazda besides the CX-90. Almost everything about it seems well and good enough, but the cylinder deactivation that became standard on CX-5 in 2018 kills it for me.
It only deactivates when coasting or at idle, never under cruise or throttle. It’s completely different from the American manufacturer’s deactivation.
I prefer cars with a little cladding the CX50 looks way better imo. The CX5 looks like a Beluga wale without any black accents at all. It looks weird to me.
I’m debating between the Cx 5 n Cx 50
Thought they made it so mirror caps were now the same color as the body for the cx-5 signature trim?
They are now. I just took delivery of a ‘24 Signature last weekend and the mirror caps are body colored.
CX 5, more interior space, quieter, more premium and refined
Are we ever going to see a cx5 that can tow 3500?
CX-50 for me!
CX-5
CX-5 For sure, built in Japan, plus the CX-50 has way to much plastic cladding
I don’t understand why you would essentially make two of the same cars? Does t make business sense
I think they wanted CX-50 to be the CX-5 replacement but people still keep buying more CX-5s
@@michaela.5363and that’s because in spite of everything, the CX 5 is still one of the best compact SUV’s ever built.
@@jimmy5634 Yes, I ended up buying one
Test drove both, bought the CX-5 because it’s higher off the ground and the interior is more luxe. Made in Japan is a nice plus too.
