Bios have about 4 to 6 regions and each of them have their respective commands of instructions to your Pc. 1) Flash description region 2) Bios region 3) Management Engine (ME). 4) Trusted execution ENGINE (TXE) region 5) Gigabit Ethernet Region (GBE) 6) Platform Data region (PDR). Messing with any of these region will affect your computer response. It's better to let your bios update automatically unless there is a need to update it manually
Have you used this method to replace the battery of a Dell laptop? The battery has firmware that records the age and number of charge cycles. And the bios has a non-updatable field "battery health " if I install a new battery and battery health is bad, I think it will write to the new battery that it is bad.

I know so much about bios because I'm a television and laptop or computer component level technician. I have so many years of experience in this field and I can tell you so much about these.
