In the 2nd attempt you not just used sand but you changed the tool from 1 1/4" to 1" as well. Maybe that would work without sand, am I wrong?
Hi there! That is a great observation! But I think without the sand, the pipe would collapse or just kink like it did. But with the sand in it, and no where to go, it keeps the walls of the pipe pushed out. I switched the tool size, because the 1" seemed to fit better for the pipe.

Question: is it safe to bend a pipe 15degrees angle without filling it with sand, but with just enough heat to bend it?
Hey, you should be fine, as long as you have the right tools to do it in a safe manner.
@@kingbuilds8 My MC muffler bolt hole isnt aligned to the hole on the swingarm where it should be clamped down, so i just fabricated an extender for it to secure the muffler for the meantime, it looks ugly and unprofessional tho so i was thinking of clamping the pipe down on my work bench, torch the part where i will be bending it until glowing red, attach a bigger pipe with just enough fit for better leverage. I may be bending it just a little bit not more than 15degrees angle, havent measured the angle yet, ill just be doing it by eye until both holes on the muffler and swingarm lined up.
@@kingbuilds8 its 304 stainless steel with like 1mm thickness, used for MC elbows/pipes.

Hey! I don’t think so, because the attachments and the rollers are round. But maybe it could work. I have not tried it yet.

It is steel.
But you are using a pipe bender to bend tube. They are not the same material, so that's why you have to create a work around. Consider a steel spring instead of sand - not sure if it will work by would be less messy.
