It's a cheap tool that works alright if you don't treat it like a high dollar unit. I'm on my second one. The first one the brass bushing got destroyed by a buddy over working it. Both needed shimming to get the notch centered in the tube. I also found using an 1/8" smaller hole saw will give you a tighter fit.
The idea behind this video is excellent. I look forward to seeing more of these videos. I would especially be interested in one covering the Titanium 200 welder you use and see how your experience compared to mine.
I was going to buy one, then a buddy was like, you have an evo saw right? you can make notches with that. I was like really? I tried it and yes you can pretty easily. just have to do a little math and make 2 angled cuts. Still good to know this isnt bad though
great review! I drill sch. 40, and 10 for work and have found the Lenox hole saws to run smoother and last longer. Curious if you would see the same with notching.
Hey there, you probably know this already, but if you put some cutting or reg. Oil on the teeth periodically while cutting. It will be cooler and save your teeth on your hole saws. Just a little food for thought 👍
@user713Blvd WD-40 works well, I use that at work/on the job, but at home I use a little oiler with 5w/30 in it. It's a little thick and sticks to the hole-saw at my drill press.
again Kelly you come up with a great video with good unique and informative content. thank you. could you show some helpful methods on configuring choices on tube placement, and do's and don'ts ?
I need a tube notcher to cut an offset hole out of a 1 inch OD x .065 wall 4130 tube It does not look this notcher can do offset holes so I figured I would ask if anyone knows of an off-the-self notcher that can do offset holes? It seems like IF I made a couple spacer plates on the pipe clamp side that would get me what I need but I'm trying to avoid that. Does anyone know if there is an off-the-shelf notcher that can do offsets I dont see any in my searches? Thanks
I like the review. Short sweet and to the point..🤙 definitely going to have to get me one of these. I have been looking into a tube binder. Any suggestions on one? I seen you had a halo bent up in the background of the video. Have you used the harbor freight binder? Thoughts on it?
Thanks, I will do a review of the bender, I have one and it’s on my list. I would not use it for building anything structural, it’s called the tube kinker for a reason, lol. I have not had great success with it. I used my buddy’s jd2 mandrel tube bender for the roll bar.
The HF unit is a PIPE bender, not a TUBE bender - that's why it kinks tube. There are plenty of reviews of it out there. The short is it 'sorta' works on tube but not great.

I bought one of these many years ago and it was a piece of crap. It flexed too much while cutting and the saw and tube clamp was so far off center there was no way it would make a decent notch. I threw it in the corner and bought a JD Squared Notch Master. All good now.
@@MuddyBeards4X4 I don't have any cool friends that have the bender, only friends that can get me into the local university metal shop. Industrial tools that kick butt but a pain to get materials there.
@@MuddyBeards4X4 I keep calling and emailing Nate, like 5 times a day, sometimes more. But he won’t get back to me. 😆 I got a cease and desist, but I’m sure that’s unrelated.
For once a month use its ok..... but to make 2 or 3 canam or r Polaris cages a week dont think so. Wanna make money got to have the best tools out there.
What I don't need to buy the most expensive tool to make my project look good? Thanks for the review, and keep them coming.
I bought one of those and it did everything I needed it to do.
I've had mine for years. It works great

Great short video Kelly! I will probably be looking to get one of these myself soon so I appreciate the review!

That seems like it works great I'll be purchasing one this weekend LOL. Thanks for reviewing. Always enjoy your videos, keep up the good work
Thank you 🙏

Thanks for sharing. Do you suggest what type of oil? Thanks. Should I put engine oil, WD-40, or else.

Thanks, I will be going over that stuff in the roll cage video I am working on right now.
Use cutting oil if you want the hole saw to last.
I would love a review on their tube bender. I don’t need many bends, so thinking about one
It’s on my list, I will get to it soon👍🏻
Dope vid! Thanks for the straight forward information.
Thanks 🤟🏻

Correct, also doesn’t do well on pipe either, lol.
Cool video and what welder do you use for the cage?
Harbor freight titanium unlimited 200.
@@MuddyBeards4X4 cool and how is it,well be great if you do a review on harbor freight welders thanks
Can you review the new harbor freight welder generator vulcan outlaw 195
Good deal, curious on the lifetime of the bushing/bearing on it
Me too, In trying to keep it short I left that out. But I put lithium dry lube on it, seems to work good for now.
@@MuddyBeards4X4 I've used mine for 3 full builds now (5ish years) and still works fine. Just keep it lubed.

Can you do a review on a tubing bender?
Yes, i can. I will get to it soon.
Review best harbor freight welder under $ 300........thanks
How did you know I was looking to buy a tube notcher? thanks for the info.
Lol, google knows…
Any hints on the motor tranny combo?
Haha, nope not yet. I know what it will be but I don’t want to reveal it until I have a video ready to go about it

To me half the fun of HF tools is modifying them to work better
Haha, true
Thanks!
If I spend $70 on a notcher then I’ll need to spend $700 on a bender. 😂
Maybe he can do a harbor freight bender review also! Or maybe a how to not kink it!
Haha, true, or just use your buddies bender and save yourself $700.

they are ok for a 1 project job..... but for a few extra dollars buy a notcher with bearings...... buy it once keep it for ever
I think so.
