I have full reviews of Lulua, Ryza, the Dusk trilogy, Lydie and Suelle and many more, found here in this Playlist ua-cam.com/play/PLYxfTpsxyEntQMbmrY2g-_JNOF62hJQC2.html 😊👍
I first found your videos when you were talking about forspoken, and I made sure to give you a like a subscription i’ve been trying to figure out this series for a while, because I really wanted to start playing so I think this will shed some light.
The_Rockness i believe u should quit judging and just appreciate someone's effort to inform us over as some gaming series. After all it is a decent video!
I'm now getting into the Atelier series and your videos and reviews helped me a lot when deciding what to choose. Thank you Ircha. Btw, your videos and channel have improved very much since the beginning. Keep it up!
My favourite RPG series - they have important to mention key features which are not advertised or written on any informational material across almost everyone of the games. You may read about it in tutorial messages, but those are very long and barely anyone i know actually read all of them. You can explore the world in the pace that you like, you can interact with lots of people, explore lots of regions that slowly unlock throughout the game by hearing about them from NPCs or finding maps. There is one crucial limit tho - playtime. You see a clock and calendar on the screen at all times, and everytime you do something that takes the character some time to do ingame - like crafting from complex receips or sleeping you see the clock move. There is no real UI indication of the "deadline", but if you follow all the conversations carefully, NPCs will eventually tell you. So don't ever skip conversations you've not seen yet. For example in the Arland Trilogy this mechanic is used in tests, where your main character has to undergo one or several alchemy exams for example. The only exception i know of is Atelier Sophie, that's the only game where you could literally play a whole lifetime and still progress the story at your own pace. It's also the best looking of them all on the PS Vita, in my opinion. The lineup ends with Atelier Sophie on PS Vita, only PS4 and PC have Firis and the newest one - Lydie and Suelle. Lydie and Suelle is also available on Nintendo Switch and i'm very positive that Switch gets a new one once its released and also might get older Trilogies. How well you do in those tests, with whom you speak, what quests you solve and how fast you are also determines which ending you will get. Normally there are three endings - failure or neutral ending, good ending and special ending. So in really harsh games you can actually fail after a whole playthrough, basically a bad ending and have to either have an old save or start over. If you are satisfied with your ending you can continue playing in some of the games and go for different optional bosses spread throughout the lands. They also have New Game Plus, which is indicated by a change of the background artwork of the start menu once you beat the game with one of the endings being played out and credits had rolled. A new feature of the newest Trilogy - the Mysterious Trilogy - is that there are also hidden regions to unlock within a region by either walking up to something that looks suspiciously out of place or just being there at a certain time of day. Time of day also plays a role, night and day have different monster types and items on most of the maps. As you might see, i just love these games. x3 In my opinion with Mysterious Trilogy now concluded they are ready for the biggest Atelier game yet, enough people know of it now that this could very well be "Gust's Monster Hunter World" with millions sold at release while previously being more of a niche franchise.
I don't know about Atelier Irises (there are three Atelier Iris games), but Mana Khemia games (there are two) are very story-based games, although the alchemy system is no less exciting. About Mana Khemia, though, while there's no time management Atelier Annie (and the rest of normal Atelier games, I presume) has, it's about academic life of alchemy students (or students that happened to use alchemy) rather than manage the shop etc, they have to perform good to achieve good result
I appreciate your effort to explain the game franchise to newcomers. All the information in this video is stuff that I found through a Google search. Rather than factual stuff, I am more interested in a comparison of the gameplay systems like the alchemy system and how it plays differently between each game. Also, compare combat and story in the games, as well. "I like this one" doesn't tell me anything because I don't know what kind of gamer you are compared to myself. It's best to present the information on the story, alchemy and combat from each game and let the viewer decide which they like. I'm also curious about the time mechanic in these games. How does it affect the gameplay? I know the time limit is removed from Atelier Shallie but it is present in the first two games of the trilogy so Atelier Shallie might be a better place to start for gamers who find time limits to be frustrating. Talk about the differences between the PS3 and "plus" versions like what content is included because from what I read, more content was added to Atelier Shallie Plus than was added to previous games. Please also inform viewers about which games are available in physical format and which region because for Vita users, only Atelier Shallie Plus is available physically and that may be a selling point for the game even though it's third in a series. Knowing the order of the games is helpful but I need more info on the gameplay. Thanks for your video and sorry for the long post!
Thank you for the extra info in your comment! :-D I want to buy my first Atelier game during the next time the franchise goes on sale in the PSN for my Vita.
+Ircha Gaming Thanks for the heads-up :) They are expensive and now their prices are getting higher and Best Buy has stopped stocking them. I have two: A 16GB and an 8GB. I just deleted Borderlands 2 to make room for new games.
Awesome. I'm aware of the Atelier series as my ex was obsessed with 'em years back. There's so many games in that damn series that it's hard to keep track. I don't think they'd be my cup of tea, but they have a big fan base. I commend that. :) Great video! :)
Ircha Gaming personally I didn’t enjoy it. I enjoy customization in my RPGs which is why I gave it a shot. I’m much more inclined to a good story than anything.
i played atelier firis as my first about a month ago ant it was amazing and truly different than anything out there, went and snagged sophie right after. these games deserve to be so much more huge than they are
i just start to play atelier escha & logy just few days ago after watching the anime. and it's really beautiful. so beautiful. i cant wait to try the other atelier series. i hope it would be better or as good as this. the art is soooo beautiful. im really amazed with it
I LOVE the Atelier series. I've played all of Arland, All of Dusk, Played Sophie, and playing Firis. I'm SO HYPED for Lydie and Souer. I've also started Iris because I wanted to try the older ones; really good so far! My least favorite has to be Totori. (it was my first tho hehe) I don't enjoy some of the gameplay mechanics, it felt kinda unbalanced and a bit too difficult, but love the game anyway! AWESOME review too, you've earned a sub :D
I actually got into this series from Mana khemia student alliance on the psp. I do like that despite their cute factor, these games can challenge you quite a bit. The post game in mana khemia is quite tough and I even heard that the dlc of escha and logy has the toughest boss in the series. I'll attempt to beat that boss one day, but I need a new playthrough to prepare lol.
nice to see a video about the Atelier series! I should really get back to playing Atelier Rorona, but i remember its time limits kicking my butt. I guess i'm just not that good at games anymore haha. Ah Rorona was so adorable! i'm playing Atelier Lydie & Suelle right now. the characters are super cute in it! its super convenient on the nintendo switch
The Atelier series is my favorite, I'm missing two of the main games, Meruru and Iris 3. Iris trilogy came out in America and the two Mana games came out as well. There's a great anime to Escha & Logy that's worth watching, think it's on Netflix or Hulu.
atelier are a slice of life game .. they arent serius , the only serie with serius plot was iris and they are the black sheep of the saga , clasical rpg
Ayesha was also my favorite i loved it so much.. it was my first atelier game as well meruru is my 2nd favorite i can't say i love any of the others as much
I was brought here from Gust's upcoming JRPG based on the manga/anime Fairy Tail, which has the same basic gameplay mechanics, as far as I know. Since Fairy Tail has plenty of fans of its own, I'm sure more people will be exposed to Gust's other works. In case you don't know, Fairy Tail is a fantasy series about guilds of wizards who fight monsters, catch criminals, and go on adventures for a living. The Fairy Tail guild is home to the strongest, rowdiest, and friendliest wizards in the kingdom, but midway through the series, a certain disaster flings our heroes seven years into the future, where they find that their guild has fallen from grace during their absence. This is where the game's story picks up, with the object of the game being to rebuild Fairy Tail's reputation by accepting missions and climbing the ranks until you're the kingdom's number one guild once more. If the game turns out to be as good as any of these, then I suppose I could recommend anyone who's a fan of either Fairy Tail or Atelier to check it out.
You sound like a nice person! :D I will try to locate Ayesha or Sophie. One thing I wish you would have went into more was the gameplay elements. I think they are mostly turn based w/ crafting? Are they all fairly accessible games??? Happy New Year!
The "new" physical copies of the Arland trilogy were released only on the Switch. Also it only got released in Japan and they sold so fast that they had to do a new batch of copies, wich sold even faster.
I got into the series when i got my switch (literally the day it came out 😂) and my first one was lydie and suelle and it went from there to many others. This series is just too good!!
Nice! Thanks for drawing more attention to this series (and showing a female point of view). I’m a huge Gust/Atelier fan, and I would say Ayesha is my favourite too so far!
Thanks i already got the trilogy but i haven't had the time to play them. But now i get the diference of the other ones, so you got a new suscriber. =P
I've always wondered if these were decent games. They've always been hard to find locally. And they sure have made a lot of them despite them not seeming to be very popular.
I've only played Mereru and really enjoyed it. I've since purchased Shallie and Ayesha when I came across used copies in Gamestop, but I haven't played them yet.
This is one of my favorite videos you have made because it was nice to hear and see a description of the series that I know nothing about. Like you, I absolutely love the art style. And as a console rpg collector i love that there are a bunch of games in this series to seek out. My question is: As a 36 yr old straight male dude who really loves rpg's and really loves the art style that I am seeing, is this series too "girlie" and/or too boring meaning like a lack of a good story? Is it more of a kids game and/or was the target audience females? I don't mind girlie but I don't want to play a game that is very boring. Thanks and keep up the good work as always!
Hi Ircha, nice vids and im glad you actually like the series too. If i can put my opinion in, for someone who is new to the game, I would say to not go for Sophie because there is not time limit. I know it sounded wierd because its easier for the new players but at one point I was actually bored at sophie because i can just do anything I want without worrying about the time.. the time actually keeps me in track on what to do in game. I would really recommend to actually go with Escha&Logy for PS3/VITA and Mana Khemia for PS2.
I always love watching your atelier videos I have to say I have played some of the games on the Wii it’s because people make bootlegs that work on systems and we have always called them home brew and I have played them on vita ps3 ps4 and now switch but the Sophie series because she has 4 games now she is my all time favorite atelier character and metal Jesus should definitely get into the series it’s really fun and one of the best series out there and definitely get Kelsey hooked as well we need more people playing this
Gust was a machine on PS3. They pumped out games like there was no tomorrow. Ar Tonelico is another franchise. Now with Fatal Frame staff they are making Nights of Azure 2. Makoto Shibata has only directed horror games with waifus until now.
Cool video! I love this series and own all the games except the Japanese only titles. They are fun and relaxing games and the stories are really good. Thanks for the video.
i'm actually here cause i was curious about that trilogy (which is now on the switch), i've been trying to get into this series but had no idea where to start. I need more weeb games for my switch since i imported senran pinball lol also ur cute :o
I have atelier shalie alchemists of the dusk sea.. My frist atelier game i playd and i have atelier totori plus on vita I have finished it.... I like atelier series games... ☺
I've played Atelier Iris 1,2,3 // mana khemia 1,2 for the playstation 2 and atelier annie for the nintendo ds. I've only played totori and own atelier sophie. I really didn't care for the ps3 version of atelier because of the time dilation of the story, where you'd have to make a certain item in a certain amount of days while trying to see all the available cutscenes and exploring all new dungeons in that time allotted. Atelier Sophie was a little lenient on the time between item creations and letting the main character get to know the other characters that you get to fight and explore alongside.
As an artist, we pronounce that word ah-til-ee-ay. Not sure if they say it differently in the game. Looks like an interesting series. If they are fun there are so many to play
My favorite Atelier game is escha and Logy i started playing them because it reminded me a little bit of Fullmetal Alchemist how they use alchemy in that that's why I started playing it
The dusk trilogy and the Arland trilogy are available on the switch eshop, for 89 euros each... Pricey but I might get one of them. The mistery trilogy isn't there but maybe I'll get a used PS4 when the ps5 comes out and I'll play it 😁
My god, I wish Tecmo spat out Project Zero (Fatal Frame) games just as rapidly as the Atelier series :'-( That said, I too, like you, have always known about the series and seen it everywhere, but for some reason never took the chance to pick it up. It looks very interesting though from what you are showin, especially the beautiful artstyle...... might pick the newest one up for Switch to get started with :-)
You have a nice voice. Where are you from? I started at mana khemia. Meruru was so fun. Escha and logy is part of my soul. Never played shallie... never beat ayesha. Playing Sophie atm... thinking about going back and getting shallie plus... since my boy logy is in it now lol
They added new dlc like playable characters and costumes etc.. pretty sure harder bosses too. I beat totori, meruru, eschalogy (prolly my fav... the characters are so damn cool and i'm a sucker for sappy love stories)
Don't think I'm a gamer anymore. May as well call myself a collector of Jrpgs at this point because I have more than I can ever manage to play or time to play.
No, there's a NA version. i believe there were 3 atelier games released for the DS, but only atelier annie was released for the West. atelier.wikia.com/wiki/Atelier_Annie:_Alchemists_of_Sera_Island
ayesha is my favorite 3d atelier too but the whole dusk trilogy is awesome.. i think mysterious is big step backwards sadly. the plus games mainly add dlc and new stuff except rorona plus which is more of a remake and make a lot of things better (similar to hyperdimension neptunia 1 and rebirth). can only recommend the gust ps2 games (atelier iris 1-3, mana khemia 1+2).. also from gust but not from the atelier series is ar tonelico 1-3 and ar nosurge which are their best games imo (more sci-fi story with deep world building and also synthesis system.. less deep but every synthesis shows a talk event.. most of them are really funny)
Nice video thanks for the summary! I'm still kinda confused as to what the game is about and the story. You are essentially an Alchemist who gathers ingredients, aswell as battle monsters?
Ircha Gaming haha xD cool. I'm thinking of grabbing the 3rd one with the princess who is trying to build her kingdom looks fun. Kinda pricy on the PlayStation network tho :^/
You should really give Meruru a try I think it is the most enjoyable Arland game even if you do the missables, I didn't really spent a tedious amount of time making boats or constantly doing S rank requests (like the previous games). At least I did find some enjoyment in it, but my favorite ones are still Mana Khemia 1-2, Dusk, and Mysterious. Also Rorona Plus does actually have a physical PS3 copy in English, but it is a little bit glitchy, it shouldn't effect endings though. I played Rorona Plus probably the most since it just takes longer to do for 100%, but Meruru Plus was more enjoyable imo for having more traditional RPG elements.
@@ircha Yeah it really is something, and the Makina Domain had some of my favorite tracks in that one :). It took me awhile to get into the Arland trilogy since y'know I started with Rorona Plus and I needed an updated enough guide to do it. They are updated enough for it I think. The only one I need to do endings for now is original PS3 Totori, I'll eventually do it when I have time.
I know this video is fairly old now, but I just had to say I'm pretty sure the name is "At-el-i'er" which is a french word. It is a "Private workshop or studio of a professional artist in the fine or decorative arts". The Japanese love to use foreign words, especially ones they don't quite understand for things... Which is true of a lot of cultures honestly.
I just bought the mysterious dx trilogy for switch and can't wait to play next week. I ordered the Rorona ps3 trilogy from gamestop before vivid and got an empty box and they didn't have anymore copies. I got a refund but it was so disappointing. I've played all of the ps3 games and love them and plan to own them for switch eventually.
i love the atelier series the first game i played of atelier series was totori and i just fell in love with it. after that i got rorona, ayesha and escha and logy but i still have to get meruru and shallie. but i love these games there so unique... also have u played a ps3 game called catherine?
tiffany pierce if you're gonna choose between meruru and shallie i say go for meruru first.. shallie is a mess in my opinion at least in comparison.. still enjoyable tho
I started with Ryza. Never beat it because I loved the game from the beginning and I felt like I was doing myself a disservice not playing the earlier games. So I managed to nab the mysterious and dusk trilogies, but I cant find out if there is another trilogy on the ps4 or not
i have played Atelier Rorona and i think is to slow but i have also played Atelier Iris and it was amazing. I wish to play some Atelier like Iris, with a theme not to "silly". Do you recomend some?
Did they ever release physical copies of all the remasters on PS Vita? The only one I found is Atelier Shallie and I haven't played it yet because it's supposed to be the 3rd game in the Dusk series. I could buy digital but I still prefer physical
Ircha Gaming if you enjoyed Ayesha you will enjoy Logy and Shallie since the dusk trilogy is really good. Firis being the middle game of mysterious trilogy seems to of hot it's stride in what there doing this time
I have full reviews of Lulua, Ryza, the Dusk trilogy, Lydie and Suelle and many more, found here in this Playlist ua-cam.com/play/PLYxfTpsxyEntQMbmrY2g-_JNOF62hJQC2.html 😊👍
Thank you for these. ValkyrieAurora privated her Intro to Atelier video.
I first found your videos when you were talking about forspoken, and I made sure to give you a like a subscription i’ve been trying to figure out this series for a while, because I really wanted to start playing so I think this will shed some light.
"Really old games"
"1997"
Oh. 😢
What about final fantasy1, dragon quest1, megami tensei1, YS1?
20 years old makes something retro so technically yeah a 21 year old franchise is pretty old
Spencer Alvarez yeah, it was an age joke. I was born in 1988.
I was born in 1988 i must be ancient

I also get attracted to the atelier series because of the artsyle, the artist behind the most recent games is Tony Taka

Atelier Iris trilogy and Mana Khemia were my shit. I remember spending all my weekend just to complete the game as fast as i can.
The Atelier series on the PlayStation 2 was amazing also.
They're so different from the rest of the series
mana khemia series. deserved more sequel! thats the truth!
they are very diferent from atelier is , they are the black sheep of the series
@@saitoXamaterasu these very black sheeps (atelier iris(?) + Mana khemia) are actually the first Atelier games western masses know

Atlier iris was my first and only one in the series. It was on ps2 and I beat it when in high school in 2007. Haven’t played one since.

I really like the atmosphere of Atelier's series games~ Music and arts are gorgeous🌸✨
Ircha Gaming Cool, thank you. i might try Ayesha first!
Hmmmm... I've got to try that one too
Hi Ircha, nice vids and im glad you actually like the series too.
I need more weeb games for my switch since i imported senran pinball lol
also ur cute :o
I love them all Atelier Escha & Logy is my favorite.
I have atelier shalie alchemists of the dusk sea.. My frist atelier game i playd and i have atelier totori plus on vita I have finished it.... I like atelier series games... ☺
Atelier Ryza has got me looking into the series, thanks for explaining, I mean it really does need explaining 😅. Arland series for me next 👍
The Dusk trilogy is better ☺️💕
@@ircha
I have seen that, asian import is releasing in January £86 😧
After watching the video I added all the games to my Amazon wishlist
Takk for videoen! Jeg håper å begynne en av spillene i denne serien snart.
Så bra! 👍😁
Glad I looked this series up because youtube had unsubscribed me from your channel. I'm back though 😆
Oh really? 😁 Welcome back! ☺️👌
Never heard the word stupid sound like such a compliment before 😄
Picked up Sophie and will see how it goes!
Hi Ircha! Just subscribed to your channel. Good review with Radical Reggie as well!
Ayesha is my current favorite. I know your favorite changed over the years. But yeah playing it right now.
Ah that clarifies stuff up a bit. Thanks for the vid!
love the art style
I think Ill look into this series now. Thank you.
Cool you really like the games. I do love the art.
As an artist, we pronounce that word ah-til-ee-ay. Not sure if they say it differently in the game. Looks like an interesting series. If they are fun there are so many to play
good job thank you! i didnt know anything about these games
I really Enjoy the Atelier series I got rorona, shallie, and escha& logy, and for the ps4 Faris
The mistery trilogy isn't there but maybe I'll get a used PS4 when the ps5 comes out and I'll play it 😁
My god, I wish Tecmo spat out Project Zero (Fatal Frame) games just as rapidly as the Atelier series :'-(
That said, I too, like you, have always known about the series and seen it everywhere, but for some reason never took the chance to pick it up. It looks very interesting though from what you are showin, especially the beautiful artstyle...... might pick the newest one up for Switch to get started with :-)
Ircha Gaming - Some people have it good 😅
Thank you for this.
Coming back to this video I wonder if Playstation Now would have these older atalier games. I'll have to check.would love to play these older ones.
I'm playing mana khemia, my favorite atelier series
Don't think I'm a gamer anymore. May as well call myself a collector of Jrpgs at this point because I have more than I can ever manage to play or time to play.
you should try mana khemia 1/2, there are a lot of humors cutscene and amazing plot
Did you know that Atelier Escha and Logy is the only Atelier game with an anime adaptation.
Nice work keep going on mate
The only atelier game i played was atelier annie for the DS. it was my first one, and i was surprised how addicting it can be...
if you have a 3ds, i highly recommend it!
Kinda pricy on the PlayStation network tho :^/
like the recap ;)
I've played plenty of Meruru now recently on the Switch ✌️ 😁 so good!!
Here we are now all the trilogies on switch
I really want to play the atelier series! I dont have a PS console but I have a PSP......
You are beatiful Ircha!!
Ircha Gaming 😊😊😊😊
Different spelling, similar sounding to your name with the Ayesha game. Haha. Cool series.
Ayesha is almost Ircha, absolutely 😂 😁👍
Always wanted to get into these
the dusk trilogy is on ps store for ps4 90 for all 3 games in one
im a huge fan of the iris trilogy. if you ever have the chance you should try them!
I will be picking up the new game on the switch. 2018 I think. I want to know whats all the buzz.
Yeah I'm going to get the one on the switch also, and from what I've heard of the soundtrack I'm looking forward to them the most
I think its "At lee ay" since its a French word
It's what I say now 😊👍
I know this video is fairly old now, but I just had to say I'm pretty sure the name is "At-el-i'er" which is a french word.
Such nice games ❤️❤️
Finally i get atelier Escha Logy 😍😍 ps3
I subscribed after watching a few videos. Will you be doing a review on the new switch version? Can beginners get into that one first?
i love the atelier series the first game i played of atelier series was totori and i just fell in love with it. after that i got rorona, ayesha and escha and logy but i still have to get meruru and shallie. but i love these games there so unique... also have u played a ps3 game called catherine?
Ircha Gaming yes i have played it and i love it soo much its also another unique game and has a verry interesting and enjoyable storyline
tiffany pierce if you're gonna choose between meruru and shallie i say go for meruru first.. shallie is a mess in my opinion at least in comparison.. still enjoyable tho
Il play now the Latest and final game on mysterius series atelier lydie & suelle the alchemists of the mysterius paibtings on my switch ❤️🎮❤️
Another one for my list.
I started with Ryza. Never beat it because I loved the game from the beginning and I felt like I was doing myself a disservice not playing the earlier games. So I managed to nab the mysterious and dusk trilogies, but I cant find out if there is another trilogy on the ps4 or not
You're thinking of the Arland trilogy, they're PS3 titles. Also out on Switch. 😉👌
@@ircha yup! That was the trilogy I was missing. Well, quadrilogy since there are some standalone games
i have played Atelier Rorona and i think is to slow but i have also played Atelier Iris and it was amazing.
Can you redo an updated video of the Atelier series maybe whats available on switch as well.
New Atelier video coming in January 😁👍😉
Like if you like older Atelier Games jump to 3D in remakes
Escha and Logy Plus is great amazing even as is Shallie. Sophie is okay but not as good as Firis
Ircha Gaming if you enjoyed Ayesha you will enjoy Logy and Shallie since the dusk trilogy is really good. Firis being the middle game of mysterious trilogy seems to of hot it's stride in what there doing this time
