      Never be ashamed that you bought a vita. Instead you should feel angry that Sony shoved it under the rug after a year or 2 of support.

    • @PokeBurnPlease
      @PokeBurnPlease 4 роки тому +3

      @@RaifSeverence It was not just sony. For me the biggest reason the vita was bad is that litterly any game runs with less than 30 FPS. Litterly every game is laggy af and if i want to play like this i buy a PC for 10€ instead of a Console for 300 or whatever it was back then. Sure Sony could have given the console more love but if third partys are not giving quality content then the system will not be alive for long.

    BEST trilogy, best characters and story, hands-down best selection of music 😍😍😍 it boggles my mind that so many people haven’t played the Dusk trilogy (even supposed “Atelier fans”); y’all need to get on it right now, ASAP.
    Btw, calling Ayesha the “weakest of the trilogy”..... I get where you’re coming from, but that wording does it such a disservice. Maybe it’s because I played Ayesha first myself, but the soundtrack, plot, world-building and general atmosphere it creates, at least puts it above Shallie IMO.
    I respect your opinion, obvs, but I just can’t call it that 🥺

    • @eirikastokes9652
      @eirikastokes9652 4 роки тому

      Personally, having beaten Ayesha and Escha & Logy and currently playing Shallie, I do think Ayesha is weaker than both E&L and Shallie, but still a good game. A huge part of that is definitely having one protagonist vs two - having 2 protagonists makes it much easier to write compellong dialogue, since you know that most of your interactions are between them and you know how they need to interact to get to the necessary end result - but I also think that Ayesha suffers from being just *slightly* directionless. You aren't really given any strict goals besides "find Nio", and you can basically do whatever you want. Escha and Logy has the quarterly missions, and Shallie has multiple little objectives that end up in story progress once you complete them, but Ayesha just sorta says "alright go do the thing!" And maybe you like that! More power to you! But I personally wanted more concrete direction. And when I say Ayesha is "weaker", I don't mean worse or bad - I just think the other two Dusk games are more clearly defined. I'm sorry that this is so long, but I really wanted to explain my reasoning in full!

    • @zoozbuh
      @zoozbuh 4 роки тому

      Michael Stokes Interesting. When you explain it like that, I do get what you mean. I personally found Shallie more directionless, just because for a long time the story doesn’t really get going, and then the final goal/s kinda come out of nowhere. Yes there are different goals each chapter but they don’t seem substantial or like they mean much in the story. Basically what I’m saying is I think Ayesha’s narrative was stronger, and that gives you more drive and pushes you forward more. But totally see your (and Sophie’s) reasoning. 👍🏽
      The dual protagonist thing... ehh, I don’t see how the interactions between them necessarily make it a stronger game. Not sure how you linked that tbh. I did love how Escha and Logy seemed so focused and had clearer goals/free time in each chapter after you finish them.

    • @TenchiHawkwing
      @TenchiHawkwing 4 роки тому +1

      For me, I really feel like Ayesha was the strongest of the three rather than the weakest because I felt like the story was stronger and more personal.
      The lack of direction or the game holding your hand pushing you towards events wasn't really something I felt the game needed. In fact, that feeling of discovery got me far more invested and I never really felt like dividing games up into chapters really helps. Honestly, that kinda pulls me out of the story a bit when there are clearly defined chapter breaks rather than a story that just kinda flows from beginning to end based on your choices.
      I guess some people like me enjoy the freedom to find my own path and others prefer to be guided down one and for those who like to be guided, Ayesha probably would come off weaker, at least that's how I see it.

    After playing 'Atelier Sophie' a couple of years back and falling in love with it I did a little digging into the Atelier franchise as a whole. The Dusk Trilogy was the one that I wanted too play the most; and I'm enjoying my time with Ayesha so far and can't wait too continue with this world. Before this release I've finished both the Mysterious trilogy and Arland trilogy as well as the newer games; to keep it brief the Atelier series has been my borderline obsession since booting up Sophie for the first time.

    These are on sale for 20% off on the Switch right now and I picked up the bundle as an Easter treat. I'm bumbling my way through Ayesha, and the more I let myself acknowledge that I may screw it up--and jot down things I learn in case I need to try again--the more fun I'm having. I love the art style, character designs, music, etc. The overall game is pretty chill in how it's played--the challenge comes in discovering stuff organically and then realizing how doing things differently could have shaved off time.

    Hi! I am watching this after completing Ryza (I completed it like 5 hours ago?) And since this is an Atelier video I decided to share my feelings and experience with Ryza here. Hope you don't mind that. (Don't worry I won't spoil any major story detail)
    Although the ending was a happy one I found it a bit bittersweet. I actually cried for the first time in a long time while watching it. I could see what was going to happen from a mile away so I was prepared for it, but that didn't help. One of the central themes of the game is summer memories and most of the characters will soon be reaching adulthood and for me both of those are pretty recent events in my life. This made the game resonate a lot with me and made me try out Ryza as my first Atelier game. And the ending also touched upon some of my fears, so all of these so emotional.
    But this video is about the Dusk trilogy so I guess that I should talk a bit about it as well. Well I have only played Ryza, in fact I haven't really played video games in years since I never owned a console or a gaming PC, so I don't actually have an opinion about the Dusk trilogy. But they seem pretty interesting games like all other Atelier games, so I want to check them all out one. But I kinda spent a lot of money on Ryza a few days ago so I won't be able to buy another game for a while, be it an Atelier game or a different game.

    Had a PS3 and Vita... And still never found this series. As I'm primarily a PC gamer now I'm so glad they've been ported! Finally get a chance to play what I missed!

    I was brand spanking new to the franchise. It was the first game I saw and both it and Sophie are how I entered the Atelier Franchise.

    Glad to hear about the quality of life improvements. I was expecting better optimization, but it's good to hear it from someone that's seen it in action and can compare it to the original. The Arland ports were great so I'm happy they haven't gotten lazy. These are dropping at a great time too. Best franchise around for making January suck less.

    I don't have a PS3 even now. I remember watching youtube playthroughs of them and always wanted to play them ever since. Now I have a decent laptop enough to play them and they're quite affordable price on steam, I can finally play them.
    Forgot to mention there's a tv anime series of Escha & Logy.

    Wow, Ayesha stands out to me by leaps and bounds among the entire trilogy. The music is gorgeous, the world feels huge, synthesis and combat are solid. What's not to love?....I loved the complete change in tone after coming directly from Meruru. :). Escha and Logy I absolutely hated, and quit playing the first ending I got. Full stop - Moving on. Shallie is great, but the lack of time limit has made it drag for me, so in the meantime it's shelved while I distract myself with some Switch games I got during the holidays (wheee!). I can say with certainty now that it's released in English, Ayesha will be the only Dusk game I will buy the English version of.

    As one of the Ayesha's (and the DUSK trilogy itself) fan. I never introduced the DUSK trilogy to play 1st. I always recommend the Arland and/or Mysterious line. As they were more (you could say) beginner friendly. In any case, nice review.

    Wait, you say Ayesha is the weakest of the three? That is really weird cuz everytime I asked people about the best game to start on this series, Ayesha was the one that is the most recommended and overall praised.
    Personally I have yet to put actual time in any of the games, but Firis and Shallie got my favorite waifus so I played them the most so far.

      Yeah, i see this a lot. Seems a lot of people who staryed with ayesha absolutely love it. But i agree with her, its good but definitely not the best out of the three

    I was looking at the Atelier sales on steam and felt kinda lost. Four games that are relatively new to the platform and all seeming to be a valid place to start, all of them super visually appealing. Pretty daunting. So yes, this is a very welcome video!
    Also, I don’t have a Vita, but I have a PSTV 😁

    I'm excited to play through these finally, I grabbed the triple pack on steam while its on sale. I tried to get into both ayesha as well as escha & logy, but having to get my ps3 out was such a pain.

    The real deal is in atelier iris games and mana khemia from the ps2 era, best stories so far in my opinion and they never get old for me.
    Good video, love your voice!

    I think I'll stay with Ayesha for the moment. the story of a girl going on a journey with her cow-thingy to find her little sister is just to adoreable. and I like the characters so far. only the Alchemy System has me confused because there aren't that many options (at the moment?).

    I saw this trilogy in the upcoming section of the nintendo eshop, and since I remember seeing these atelier games there all the time, and I'm into jrpgs and cute girls, I was seriously considering preordering them. I decided to learn a little more about the series before I made any purchases, so I looked for a video about the atelier series, and I found your video that went through the whole series explaining what each of them were about. After that, I not only knew I needed to get into this series, but I knew it needed to be the dusk trilogy as well. And in the process, I've found a new youtuber/streamer to watch, and I've just loved everything of yours that I've watched in the past week or so. I just want to say thank you for getting me into this series, and thank you for being an awesome content creator!

    I loved this trilogy so much T^T It was the very first one I ever played. I still have Ayesha on my ps3 back home and Atelier Shallie on my ps vita. I never got to play Atelier Escha and Logy, sadly, because I could never find it, but I did watch the anime. ^w^ I can't wait to play these again.

    I'd get them if I hadn't already, but they were really great games, they renewed my interest in the series when they 1st came out (other than Mana Khemia I liked Dusk/Mysterious most, Arland and Iris are ok though). I guess I still have Lydie and Suelle to look forward to since I just didn't have time to play it before.
