Lovely little Vid Mark I’ve got a back log of games now to play... not been as active watching Switch up as I always see little gems on here an end up having to pick them up 😂😂... Congrats nearly on 70k now brother
I went ahead and bought the whole trilogy lol. The games look cute, and I've heard from Atelier fans that this trilogy is the best in the franchise. $80 imo isn't bad for three entire games, especially if there are multiple routes.
I got the Arland Trilogy in November for $54 so about $18 per game I finished the first one and started the second and I really enjoyed them both and I think there is actually some great replay-ability. I am interested in this trilogy as well but not enough to buy it at $90. Also I already have too many games in my backlog right now with Black Friday, and the latest New Years eshop deals. The next day 1 game I will buy is Animal Crossing.
Finished Ryza a while back and I loved the changes they made to the games with it. Mainly the time mechanic. I HATE THIS MECHANIC! I started playing this series back on the PS2 during the Iris series, which didn't have this 'complete X before Z date'. It's the reason i stopped playing the series at Rorona, i didn't like the stress of having that hanging over my head and the confining nature it gave to the story. I'm glad it seems to be less stressful in this series of games but with the prices these games are still at I think i will just wait for Ryza 2 to come out...
Escha and Logy is the only one Ive played in this series back on the PsVita. And don’t get me wrong I put many hours into it but for me it was too slice of life for me. I need a little more of a compelling story with my jrpgs. Hope you feel better MRk😘
Just completed Ryza and looking to move on to another game but at $113.39 CAD, I don't think this will be it. Time to check the backlog of games I still have. Thanks for the review
Until now the only choice I had to play these games was trying to get PS3 versions in the 2nd hand market costing 20 ~ 30 EUR per game. You would need to add shipping to that and you will still miss out on the DLC. I could also buy the PS3 versions via PSN. Total costs 25 + 30 + 30 = 85 EUR. Still missing the DLC. Even then I see plenty of reports about frame rate issues in the PS3 versions and I think it has a lower resolution then Switch docked mode. So I would say the pricing is on par with what you would likely had to pay in 2019 to play these gems on PS3. If you deem it to expensive just wait a few months. In my experience these games regularly get up to 40% discounts after about 6 months.
Thanks for the review! I wasn't quite sure whats with the hype about this game but it seems interesting. I love JRPG games like DQ 11s and octopath traveller but I might wait till there's a huge sale. For now I'm just going to get games that has been on my wishlist for the long time 😂
I want to take my stab at the value segment: (I live in Australia so this is going to be in Australian prices) alright now the trilogy physically and digitally would cost me 137.72 that means to me that each game costs about 46 I don’t see the issue crash team racing for example cost me above 50 and Mario odyssey costs about 80-90 and I would say I get much more out of one atelier game than I get in Mario. This might be because I am used to high price video games as every triple A switch title costs me close to 100 each, also the Pokémon mystery dungeon remake is the same price as Mario and Zelda so when I comes to value I don’t really see an issue because if you don’t like pc games you live like this, and if you like pc games buy the trilogy there and save yourself some money.
Cheers for this review Mark. I think they always overprice initially because they think people will pay due to Nintendo tax and convenience of the Switch. Hopefully it reduces over time to its real value.
Hey here is an amazing game series. Awesome story and literally universe spanning. It’s only 13 games plus. Yeah I said 13. Wait no, come back it’s great. This is how is expect most fans try to bring new players into it. Lol . Great review and definitely a heavy weight series.

I never really thought much about the price since it’s around 130 AUD for three games and typically games here cost 80-100 each. Usually around the 100 mark. I do want to get it but I’ve already got too many games in my backlog. I also want to get through the Arland trilogy first.
Отличный обзор. Коротко, но все основные моменты вроде качества геймплея, визуала и саундтрека. Не хватало только качественного сравнения работы игр с другими платформами. Спасибо!
Looks surprisingly better than I thought from the photos I’d seen, that price is steep as heck tho! Guess you should not judge a book by its cover, or games by the eshop pics
Thanks for the review! I’ve never played an Atelier game. I think I’d go for the newest new before investing in this. Here in Taiwan, the trilogy has a physical release ($75 USD all on one cartridge with English). I was tempted to get it, but I think I’ll pass for now.
No one but you say that. Most people don't struggle with the time on Atelier games. Escha and Logy lets you do what's required first than use the time at will. And Ayesha has the most compelling story of the Dusk trilogy. Don't see Shallie on any ranking when the whole franchise is considered
I'd recommend Valkyrie Aurora's channel for in depth review of individual episodes, and since I just took a new job that requires an hour long train ride to get there, bajilion hours long jrpg bundle seem fitting :/.
These games do have my attention, but I don't feel like investing so much money in one game series haha. Already have too many RPG's as well anyway :p Off topic: Just purchased Mutant Year Zero (physical, discount) a LAN cable and Titan Quest (physical, discount) after rewatching your reviews ofcourse. So spend enough for this month, but really looking forward to using my new stuff! With this Lan cable, Elite Smash here I come! Thanks for the reviews as always lads! Keeping me aware of what I buy, greatly appreciated.
Just ordered the physical version of the trilogy. Everything on the cartridge is very important to me, honestly. I do own these games on the PlayStation 3, but having them on a portable device is great. Now the price did hurt, though...
Im a big jrpg player but I havent played any of the ateliers iris trilogy since ps2 era. I have bought 3 on ps4 and got the trilogy physically for switch with some of the dlc for 90 bucks from play-asia. They only have like 5000 copys off the trilogy on one cart I would snag one if you a physical collector. Finishing up on lost sphear then start they mysterious trilogy
I ordered the physical edition via playasia for 110euros sooooo... yeah xD i already own the ps3 versions but i just wanted all the quality of life features and I'm not a fan of digital only releases. Call me paranoid but if I've got the physical copy at home, nobody can tamper with it, and i can't lose it just because my account got deactivated or something. It was definitely worth it to me but then again gaming is my primary hobby and besides my dog I have no other financial responsibilities.
My physical copy shipped out today from Playasia, so looking forward to getting it. Even better, got word that my Switch system was shipped back to me from the repair shop, so the timing is perfect! 😄 Still need to finish up Dragon Quest XI though, so I'm not sure if I'm going to start playing this one right away.
@@SwitchUpYt it never really bothered me, but thinking about it I can see where you're coming from. I can say that the music, while I don't consider it bad, I don't really find memorable either other than the main battle theme (and that's only because I hear it so often as I like to grind!).
I just ordered this as an import. My family and i work on a £1 per hour. So if a game costs £40 and we play for forty hours then it has been worth it. We have all been burnt by games that don't last long. For me this would work out to 56 pence an hour. I never played them before they came to the switch, for people like me they would be worth it. If you've played them all before certainly not.
This game is a major time eater. I would wait until there's a sale. This definitely is not my cup of tea but I kinda want to see what is up with this game.
Personally for me, I think the price was worth it. Compare this to the average games these days *cough* battlefield 2042 *cough* pokemon sword and shield without Pokedex... And you'll find the value is much more valuable than it looked. Keep in mind the amount of content we are looking at here. One game for $70 that sucks and has to be played online, vs 3 single player JRPGS with fantastic characters. I enjoyed Ayesha alone so much and haven't even touched the other two and I know I'll enjoy them so much (Marion I'll see you and Linca again soon I see). Ayesha was like a breath of fresh air and reminded me why I like games so much. Modern gaming is so boring and if I have to pay a high price for a set of games that function how video games should, and can show EA and stuff that I rather this than their trash... So be it. $80 looks like a lot for old games. But if we are being honest here, they have a lot more value for the dollar than newer games that don't even work anymore. Nuff said. P.s: Sagittarius is best boss theme in whole world. P.s2: I played 80 hours in Ayesha and haven't unlocked everything. Failed the time limit once and got one good ending already. Gonna replay is few times and some more to see everyone in all their outfits. Lots of content. F you EA
I have all three of these on PS3 and I want to get them on the switch because of all the DLC but I'm not paying that much money for them right now I can't afford it.
But its on sale on steam right now... which brings it down to a slim $108.99CAD. This is totally why I'm here, i like JRPGs as much as the next guy, but WTF is this price? I aint gonna let this do me like Octopath
I checked what the price would be to get the physical editions of this + the new atelier mysterious trilogy from play asia. 210€! Including shipping to germany and taxes. I am interested but that's too much for 2 cartridges.
PS: surely wayy to overpriced, even with the minor sales discounts now in e-shop... no, developers, I`m gonna buy my son another 3 games for that price, thank you=)))
Man I thought you're exaggerating in the title. But nope. Apparently you have to shell out an amount that could get you 4 AAA PC games to get these on Switch. It's really ridiculous, considering you only need around 120$ to get all of them on PC.
@@SwitchUpYt Its nice to have a break from darker more serious RPGs. Atelier games are just bright colourful, fun stories and characters and isn't.about saving the planet or something super serious haha. Good light hearted JRPGs. I have all the switch Atelier games (once my physical copy of Dusk arrives). Still annoyed they never bothered releasing Arland with an English physical though.
I like playing atelier games, but this type of game is not very popular and publicized by people, so it is very difficult for you to be able to finish a game like this with at least 95% of them.😂😮
Am I wrong to say that if you played one game from this series, then you've played them all? I remember playing an atelier game on the ps2 and the gameplay loop is almost the same. Cookie cutter battle system, and alchemizing(?) stuff. And that price, my goodness. They are aware that the eshop recently had a huge sale right?
Even though I enjoy this kind of game (I'm a sucker for any game with crafting or collecting materials) I do think the Atellier games are a rip off, its like some kind of scam. we'll change the main character and yes thats another £35 please. Sod off
I have those atelier games and i think they're not even worth 20€. Such a crappy series of rpgs imho. But this is because of the alchemy part. I might give it another go sometime. Still playing tales of vesperia first now. Surviving the apocalypse in quarantine :')
Yeah I had a pretty big blow at my hopes when trying out Atelier Firis. Very boring mechanics with the alchemy system being the only good point, and even that having it's own share of problems. But after playing Ar Tonelico I wanted to try out another game from the same creator and I went for Mana Khemia, a spiritual sequel of the Atelier Iris trilogy on the PS2. And I think that game is fantastic, which made me rekindle my interest in the series, or at least, hope for Escha & Logy. Oh and speaking of Tales of series. I've played 2 of them. Symphonia for Wii, which I thought was pretty trashy, but had a bit fun messing around with the monster taming system with my friend. And Berseria for PC, which I played with the same friend, and we both agreed it was a much, much better game and enjoyed it a lot more, though never finished it because time is not on our side. I have mixed feelings on the series, and I think the character designs in most of them is just blergh. That and the combat system is a big reason I get wary of these titles. Battles definitely got better from Symphonia to Berseria, but that only means it's now playable, and not what I would call engaging or interesting.
@@Hambs23 i took a break from tales of vesperia and am now playing hardcore through dq11xs as time allows hehe. I was thinking of getting berseria, useful info thx :)

F you EA
With steam launch and sale, all three are 30, us. Nice deal.
Not interested in this game. But checked out your video because I enjoy the vids you guys put out 👍.
Cheers mate! Mark
I checked what the price would be to get the physical editions of this + the new atelier mysterious trilogy from play asia. 210€! Including shipping to germany and taxes. I am interested but that's too much for 2 cartridges.
PS: surely wayy to overpriced, even with the minor sales discounts now in e-shop... no, developers, I`m gonna buy my son another 3 games for that price, thank you=)))
Yeah I don’t blame you! Mark
Elena Comoli Has
Should be 20 per game
Oddly hearing this review is similar to hearing about Pokemon Sword/Shield
what's the flute music ?
Man I thought you're exaggerating in the title. But nope. Apparently you have to shell out an amount that could get you 4 AAA PC games to get these on Switch. It's really ridiculous, considering you only need around 120$ to get all of them on PC.
How much is irrelevant, the Atelier games are so much fun.
They are pretty darn fun
@@SwitchUpYt Its nice to have a break from darker more serious RPGs. Atelier games are just bright colourful, fun stories and characters and isn't.about saving the planet or something super serious haha. Good light hearted JRPGs. I have all the switch Atelier games (once my physical copy of Dusk arrives). Still annoyed they never bothered releasing Arland with an English physical though.
Yeah I can definitely see the appeal! Mark
I play the first one before i think i pick it up on sells yes its over price again xD
Yeah that’s basically the long and short of it! Imagine how many games you could have bought for this one price! Mark
It's priced like some of those collector's edition games that come with statues and whatnot Lol!
Koe Tecmo is having a laugh.
I wouldn't have time to play it anyway because Obidian finally patched Pillars of Eternity.
How’s the patch? Mark
It fixed a broken game.
So far so good!
(I was 90h in and I didn't want to restart)
Hardly worth one of them, But now they want you to have all 3?!
It just might be stupid enough to work...!
Are these open world??
All the 3 games is a build up in fighting a Humanoid Dragon on the last game. Which makes 0 sense.
Y do u score out of 20?
Why are there so much on the switch....?
Even though I enjoy this kind of game (I'm a sucker for any game with crafting or collecting materials) I do think the Atellier games are a rip off, its like some kind of scam. we'll change the main character and yes thats another £35 please. Sod off
Ryza is cheaper, newer and thicker so yeah
Umbra Wolf hard to get a physical copy nowadays though
Yes but Ryza is one game this is 3 games. So if you count value per hour of gameplay this package is cheaper.
Pricing is too high for my blood. I like rpgs but that price will keep anyone but die hard atelier fans from buying it
It’s crazy! Mark
DUB IS BETTER
no English VA? Well I'm not bothering.
