Crime is almost legalized sport here now. And pursuits are becoming a thing of the past. It's too dangerous for the citizens and the officers.

$45,000 per year per inmate to imprison someone. We already spend more than 4x China's budget to imprison 3x the people despite having 1/4th the population size. This is what it looks like when major cities cannot afford to imprison people for significant lengths of time. You can write 1,000 years into the law, but that doesn't change anything if you can't afford to enforce it. Nobody wants their taxes increased to imprison more people..
The Fix? no more prison for nonviolent / 'victimless' crimes, that'd instantly result in millions fewer arrests (tens of billions saved on arrests/court costs alone--before you even get to jail). More than 45% of the current prison population serving more than 1 year does so purely for a nonviolent victimless offense (like drug use or more commonly dealing). So, if you free everyone for the victimless crimes, you essentially open up almost half of our current prison bed population for these types of offenders.

Yes they chased over that. Imagine letting him go and he continues on driving. 2 days later he deletes your mom while driving and you found out that the cops let him go. Who are you going to be mad at? Your going to sue that department because if they would have done their job and put him in jail he wouldn't have been out driving to delete your mom. @@johnjohnracer I do not know your background or level of training, but I have a military & law-enforcement background. The officers should have maintained a visual and called in a helicopter. Maintaining a visual was one of the first things I learned to avoid collateral damage. The injured woman involved in the pit maneuver was probably someone's mother.
Also, I would be most upset with the officers who allowed him to steal the squad car and the judges who keep releasing these criminals. My neighbor's mom was killed by a fleeing suspect in a police chase. She was crossing the street and was hit by the suspect and the police.
I drive that road all the time. Stupidest PIT decision I've ever seen. I hope Coweta reviews that and get sued into oblivion.
I'm Irish-American (actually just American is fine). IF Irish-Americans accounted for 13% of the population but were responsible for OVER 50% of both Violent and Non-Violent Felonies, IF 1 in 3 Adult Male Irish-Americans was a CONVICTED FELON, if Irish-Americans had by far the highest rates of Welfare dependency, dropouts, and workman's comp. claims. NO ONE, I repeat NO ONE would want a thing to do with them, not for friends, not for coworkers, not in ANY aspect of life. It's NOT about Race, it's about the ACTIONS and ATTITUDES of the demographic as a whole. So quit hiding behind the Race Card and FIX YOUR OWN PROBLEMS.

@@rooster1012 do you know how physics work? When you pit the right side of a car it will rotate to the right and not go against oncoming traffic. The suspect swerved to avoid the pit lost control and went into oncoming traffic.

I caught a glimpse of one when they were struggling to put the prisoner in the back seat. I'm guessing no one closed it.
No seatbelt/vehicle restraint put on him after being placed in the vehicle, no divider, vehicle left running with the keys in the ignition.
Once a suspect is in your custody, he is then your responsibility!

He never got out of the cuffs. He was able to shift them to the front as mentioned in the video. You can clearly see he still has them on at 2:00 when he was recaptured.

1. There should not have been a flimsy separation/partition between the suspect’s section and the officer’s.
2. Each patrol car should have been installed with a “kill” switch for a scenario similar to this one, which is, somehow, becoming too common.

They don't mention the deputy did all of that for a suspended license. The deputy could have cause more harm by chasing a suspended license rather than putting out a warrant for his arrest later. Given the camera and license evidence
They had to take an 82 year old woman to the Hospital because of the guy crashing after the cop pitted his original car at 50+mph. That totally seems worth it. The State Patrol isn't even allowed to initiate a high speed chase in Michigan because of the dangers.
