I left Belgrade from this Beograd station on June 25th, 2018 for Budapest, 5 days before the termination of the historical station, and I even didn't know such the termination before watching this video! 😱
I recall going to my local station in 1963 only to learn that the previous day it had closed. Again, the work of Beeching. A sad day for all. The buildings that should have qualified as a heritage site were torn down and the history of the station died on that day. Corby, Northamptonshire, went the same as many others. Thankfully we have many photographs and film clips of a bygone era. Thanks for this video, Mr. Dulevoz. Its a reminder of what was a thriving business in your country. I am in Croatia where there are no railway services of significance.

When we see the main railway station in a country's capitol city (Belgrade) shuttered and abandoned, it is indisputable proof that the government in charge no longer considers its passenger railways to be of any importance. Abandoning the Belgrade Main Railway Station is only the first step (of many) that will ultimately result in the closure of the entire passenger railway network in Serbia. (Cargo haulage may continue for some time.)
well yeah, railways have seen a decline since the 1980s mostly if you ask me, so much careless-ness from national railway companies just because air travel has more success. it needs competition, like cheaper prices or something! at this rate railways will cease to exist!

Very sad to see such a historic station close forever. It reminds me of when I was a boy and Penn Station in New York closed down. To add to the travesty, that gorgeous station was torn down. A crime against history and culture.
@@samanli-tw3id The "new" one. The original Penn Station was an architectural masterpiece while the new one, which may be on its way out, is an ugly modernist travesty.
Why did they discard such a beatiful and monumental train station? Look at Budapest Keleti, Paris Gare du Nord, Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof, NY Grand Central or Amsterdam Centraal, these are historic rail terminals which are seen as a city and railway heritage and always being modernized. No one thinks of discarding them.
This is so sad. The hungarian government and the city government of Budapest has tried to do the same with the Déli Pályaudvar, and build a sport centre and a park instead. (There is already an enormous park nearby, called Vérmező.) They have told us that Kelenföld would be just as good as an end station which is an obvious a lie. (But how would they know? They only travel with their own luxury cars. "Only the poor use the public transportation.") On the other hand Kelenföld has no free capacity to be an end station. A few years earlier they even decreased its capacity by removing some tracks. Fortunately due to the negative judgement of the people and the press, they have they have abandoned this catastrophic plan, and made some open conferences with real experts. So now we have some acceptable plans with the train station. Only the unused area will be reused, and they might unite the station with a plaza. I hope they don't change their mind. I hope the city government of Belgrade will come to its senses as well before it's too late.
That happened in Montevideo, Uruguay also. The new station is 500 m to the North and trains lost more than 100.000 passengers a year. The old station is abandoned because the plan was doomed from the start, and involved in a long legal fight since 2003.
I hope that Budapest city authorities will not close the Deli railway station. Your luck is that you have three main stations and all three nearly the city center. There was one Main station in Belgrade, and now we do not have any main station close to the city center.
6 years later, I am unhappy to report that the new station is still highly inaccessible and unfinished. What's even worse, since covid all international lines (except the seasonal Bar train) have been shut down and there are no plans for restoration in the coming years. Apparently they're waiting until they are converted into high speed railway.
They could at least keep the building. It could look quite nice in such development zone. Also they should have an light railway station in that newly developed area.

It is a real shame that the Serbian government wants to close such a historical and key train station. The should be renovated instead of closed. It is kinda of like when they closed Józsefváros in Budapest, but at least Budapest still had three major train stations in the center of the city. The new station isn't even finished and is in an inconvienient location. It will even make travelling in and out of Belgrade by train harder. Alas it is an end of an era.
Today ex station will bee museum. Now belgrad have new central train station. In past old station Not was nice but there was yugoslavia history. Now we ar serbia.
Sad really. Back in april when I travelled to Serbia my train from Nis arrived on the Prokop station, I did expect it to be bad, but it was really worse than what I was thinking. Saying its unfinished is an understatement. The poor thing looked like you've carpet bombed it... I did pass a few times around the old station when I was in BG and to me it just seems like an idiotic decision to move the station from the centre to bumfuck nowhere in Prokop. The old one if its a bit renovated would look 10 times better than Prokop, not even to mention as I said that the new one is nowhere while the old is basically 10mins from the centre and Kalemegdan.
Will they move the coach and engine facility somewhere else as well? the new station does not seem to have any direct connection to the ones the old station had.
The coach and engine facilities are moved to Depot Zemun. Now in the same depot are all rolling stock of the entire passenger traffic in Serbia and Belgrade.
Hvala na snimcima. Imam pitanje.
You are translate from Hungary, please! Rendkívül jók, informatívak, valószínűleg a rendszereink se sokban különböznek (itt EVM, U=25kV, 16.7 Hz) Kérdésem lenne: mi célt szolgál a pl 11.46-tól látható rácsos vagon? Előre is köszönet! I have been paying attention to your videos, your work and thanks for your videos so far! Extremely good, informative, probably our systems do not differ much (here EVM, U = 25kV, 16.7 Hz) My question would be: what is the purpose of the lattice wagon seen from 11.43, for example? I couldn't figure it out. When can you upload a fresh video between India and Beograd? Thanks in advance! I am interested in Topcider: it has also been discontinued recently, but I do not know: Topcider teretna (freight / marshalling yards) will continue to operate?
Just think, planning in Paris was far better. The old stations were built as monuments, and are easily accessible still. BTW why does Serbian RR let its locomotives get so dirty. Even our freight system in Tucson (Union Pacific) has a siding where the locomotives are scrubbed and cleaned all of the time.
Hello mate! Really impressive shots! Respect. May I ask with which camera filmed? I'm looking for my driver's cabs a comparable camera. Greetings from Germany
(ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%92%D0%B0%D1%80%D1%88%D0%B0%D0%B2%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B8%D0%B9_%D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%BA%D0%B7%D0%B0%D0%BB_(%D0%A1%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%BA%D1%82-%D0%9F%D0%B5%D1%82%D0%B5%D1%80%D0%B1%D1%83%D1%80%D0%B3) (rzd-museum.ru/)
It will be Historical museum, but even for that whole building needs to be renovated and adapted, they need minimum 10 million euros. Also Prokop will not be finished at least in the next 10 years, they are currently building last parts of concrete roof for the last two unfinished tracks (out of total 10, 8 in use currently). Also there are some talks from city officials about metro being built from 2020, which would put in use already built metro tunnels under Prokop station, but that is in the best case in 8-10 years. As for Prokop main building on current concrete roof, they are looking for private investors who would have interest to build commercial stuff and incorporate railway station in it, but since the government in past few years invested over 3 billion dollars in railway infrastructure i think they can find 50-100 million for the station.
"The completely wrong traffic policy of the country" - looking at google maps, satellite view - wasn't the demise of this station caused by it taking up "precious" space in the most premium real estate area? I.e. someone made shitloads on decommissioning it and someone else will make even more once they build whatever is going to replace this station?
Did American consultants recommend doing this? It sound like the stupid idea they had in Georgia to close the through line through the middle of Tbilisi. Booz Allen was the name of them.
Svaka cast Dule.
It appears to me that the entire passenger railway system In Serbia is being prepared for closure. The fact that the main railway station in Belgrade has been abandoned, combined with the very obvious neglect of the railway track and rolling stock (overgrown with weeds, the train cars dirty and graffiti-covered), it is very obvious to me that, like in the United States of America, where passenger trains are also in the process of being discontinued, it will not only be the capitol, Belgrade, but everywhere else in Serbia, that has no more trains. If what I think is happening is true, there soon will be no trains calling at the new and useless station at Prokop! Is this progress? No!
Jako me cini tuznim sto je stanica uklonjena, proveo sam detinjstvo na njoj, otac i ja smo isli do depoa, i jedna fini masinovodja nas je cak provozao do onog dela gde se okrecu lokomotive, ali makar memorija ostaje
wow I was there today and saw one customer tried to buy tickets from the only open ticket window... I wish there were some signs to say about this closure...
Well, from this video its quite obvious why they close station - just look at all this new big buildings which is growing near station. Soon station will be destroyed and some lucky developer get delicious piece of land to build.

Enjoing from Brazil. Thanks for this fantastic video.
You're welcome.
A beleza da História. Magnífico vídeo. Obrigado.
Very well said.
Само град и време су различити. ua-cam.com/video/jUFIXpQF6ok/v-deo.html
6 years later, I am unhappy to report that the new station is still highly inaccessible and unfinished. What's even worse, since covid all international lines (except the seasonal Bar train) have been shut down and there are no plans for restoration in the coming years. Apparently they're waiting until they are converted into high speed railway.
Wonderful video and a tragic development. Do they intend to remove the tracks?
yes, because of the nearby urban project which involved the demolition of Belgrade railway yards and station, and depot i believe...
They could at least keep the building. It could look quite nice in such development zone. Also they should have an light railway station in that newly developed area.
the building is basically the only thing they are keeping...
They are keeping the building as it is registered as a monument (so they have to). Luckily as these bastards would sell tit off their mother.
Tin D eeeh zasto ? To se i ja pitam. Prodali pola centra grada nekim Arapima pa arapima smeta taj kolodvor, sad su napravili nove brz duse a to ce neki ministar pretvoriti u veleletnu kafanu za nove najkune i njihove silikonske frednice. A tu kafanu ce nazvati narodnim muzejem. Nekadasnji Yugosloveni su bili ugledni naucnici, diplomate, umetnici ,arhitekte.... A sadasnji seljacine i egoisticne persone.
Tin D zgrada će postati muzej srednjeg vijeka
It is a real shame that the Serbian government wants to close such a historical and key train station. The should be renovated instead of closed. It is kinda of like when they closed Józsefváros in Budapest, but at least Budapest still had three major train stations in the center of the city. The new station isn't even finished and is in an inconvienient location. It will even make travelling in and out of Belgrade by train harder. Alas it is an end of an era.
I agree with you. It's really a shame how it works on Serbian railways.
Today ex station will bee museum.
Now belgrad have new central train station.
In past old station
Not was nice but there was yugoslavia history.
Hvala za ovaj predivan video 😰💕💕💕👍
it's kinda sad even though I've never been there.
Prelep,i nostalgican video🍀
Incredible film. love it !
Thanks.
Will they move the coach and engine facility somewhere else as well? the new station does not seem to have any direct connection to the ones the old station had.
The coach and engine facilities are moved to Depot Zemun. Now in the same depot are all rolling stock of the entire passenger traffic in Serbia and Belgrade.
nice video
Thanks.
Im really disapointed to hear that the station is no closed :( Last year i was there for an hour and enjoyed my time on it :(
The station should have been regulated and integrated into the new part of the city. It should not have been removed :(
Im affraid i would turn into some big mall or some comercial building near Sava...
Nice coverage👌
Hvala na snimcima. Imam pitanje.
@@dulevoz jos uvek cekamo tvoj snimak barske pruge
Amazing video! Thx!
You're welcome.
A shame it was decommissioned, I feel very fortunate to have seen/used it the last 2 times in Beograd

Very Sad... :-(
You are translate from Hungary, please!
Rendkívül jók, informatívak, valószínűleg a rendszereink se sokban különböznek (itt EVM, U=25kV, 16.7 Hz)
Kérdésem lenne: mi célt szolgál a pl 11.46-tól látható rácsos vagon?
Előre is köszönet!
I have been paying attention to your videos, your work and thanks for your videos so far! Extremely good, informative, probably our systems do not differ much (here EVM, U = 25kV, 16.7 Hz)
My question would be: what is the purpose of the lattice wagon seen from 11.43, for example? I couldn't figure it out.
When can you upload a fresh video between India and Beograd? Thanks in advance! I am interested in Topcider: it has also been discontinued recently, but I do not know: Topcider teretna (freight / marshalling yards) will continue to operate?
Really great video, thumbs up + sub. Greetings from Denmark :)
Thank you! Greetings to you from Belgrade.
Thanks. Camera Sony FDR AX100.
(ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%92%D0%B0%D1%80%D1%88%D0%B0%D0%B2%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B8%D0%B9_%D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%BA%D0%B7%D0%B0%D0%BB_(%D0%A1%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%BA%D1%82-%D0%9F%D0%B5%D1%82%D0%B5%D1%80%D0%B1%D1%83%D1%80%D0%B3)
(rzd-museum.ru/)
Brate, najezih se.Kao ona scena iz filma Petrijin venac, kad odlazi voz, odlazi sve
Does anyone know what will the function of the building be now? And when will the Prokop station get finished?
All a big waste of money. They could have built buildings over tracks and left station in place...
Prokop will be finished next 4-5 years
"The completely wrong traffic policy of the country" - looking at google maps, satellite view - wasn't the demise of this station caused by it taking up "precious" space in the most premium real estate area? I.e. someone made shitloads on decommissioning it and someone else will make even more once they build whatever is going to replace this station?
I will correct myself: "completely miserable policy of this country"...
Do trains from Novi Sad now terminate at Belgrade Centar station?
Yes.
Did American consultants recommend doing this? It sound like the stupid idea they had in Georgia to close the through line through the middle of Tbilisi. Booz Allen was the name of them.
No!
I fully agree with you :(
Ovekovecio si trenutak.Pozdrav🍀🗾
Why did the sign say at the end?
if you mean the sign they put before the last train departed, it said:
"RAILWAY OUTSIDE THE CENTRE"
"THIRD WORLD COUNTRY"
Good presentation. Really love this video, whatever the matter.
Thank you.
Super film!👍👍👍
Greetings from Russia!
I subscribed to your channel!
Very, very interesting documentary.
Meny hours of work inside the final cut. Maybe workgroup?
From Barcelona, thanks Bro.
Yes, it took many days and many hours of recording for making this video. No workgroup, only me.
In another videos, your shadow on the front of sunshine when filming, reveals you are very young!
Jako me cini tuznim sto je stanica uklonjena, proveo sam detinjstvo na njoj, otac i ja smo isli do depoa, i jedna fini masinovodja nas je cak provozao do onog dela gde se okrecu lokomotive, ali makar memorija ostaje
Nice footage? Do you sell these clips somewhere?
They say its going to be a museum ,if i understoond your question correctly
Ok. Thank you!
What i s gonna happen to the old buildings and all station facilities now? Are the tracks and platforms going to be removed?
Tracks and platforms will be removed. Overhead line is already removed. Station building will become some kind of museum.
dulevoz it must be a train museum!
335 za?
Did the stasion closed ?
What about the tram line ?
Yes, the station is closed forever. Trams will remain.
:(

wow I was there today and saw one customer tried to buy tickets from the only open ticket window... I wish there were some signs to say about this closure...

Well, from this video its quite obvious why they close station - just look at all this new big buildings which is growing near station. Soon station will be destroyed and some lucky developer get delicious piece of land to build.
You're absolutely right.
This really sounds like corrupt deal
Unfortunately, of course it is.
Nice video ...but why?
Thank you. Great political interests.
Why it is last day can anyone explain...
Such a shame the new station lacks character. My grandparents went through here on the Simplon Orient Express in the 50s to Constantinople.
How did you gain access to all those restricted areas? Are you employed by the railroad?
I am a railwayman by profession and I know a lot of people from all those areas.

Super Video! I am really sad that the Station closed,It was a piece of serbian history!Yea it was old but who cares!the closing of the Station was like if they closed a Museum!
