You are a god send! THANK YOU!! Your tutorials are so intuitive, concise, and straight to the point thank you so much. I was also having issue with resizing and that is how I found you, mad props and thanks!
Hope to see that soon! Currently, theres a "feather" selection setting once you have made a selection, and this works by expanding the selection and fading it (or feathering it) out. I could see them expanding this feature to include a simple "expand selection". Hopefully soon :)
I think I am doing something wrong, the Gaussian Blur Works but when Automatic, instead of showing the blue around the image, the blue its showing on the full screen, any suggestion?
I know your question is a year old, but I had the same problem. I figured it out, so I thought I’d share for others with the same issue. When you click Selection, make sure Automatic is chosen. Then, make sure Color Fill (bottom right side of selection menu) is NOT selected. Mine was selected and that was the problem. Once Color Fill is unselected, when you tap the selection, it will turn black like is shown on the video and you can slide your pencil or finger to adjust the selection % and set your outline size. Hope this helps!
hi Timmy- great video and thanks! I have a problem thats naggin me about brushes. I use monoline, round brush and hard brush, but they put down LESS ink where the line starts and then it gets darker. I want the whole line to be the same opacity!
Ok, the issue here is either in 2 places. 1. Its the taper feature. You can turn that off completely and then check. 2. It could be in the pressure settings in Apple Pencil section of the brush library. Turn off opacity settings there. That should work!
Is your "sticker" on a separate layer with transparent background? If not then the automatic selection tool, might select the entire layer, instead of just your graphic.
Can you please help me?! When I reach the tap and drag part, I never get the blue outline…my entire canvas turns blue! I don’t know what to do, it doesn’t work! :(
your selection threshold is likely too high. Also, you might be able to check if you have a layer set to "reference" as this would cause your selections to not work correctly. 1. Make sure no layers are set to reference 2. Select the layer that you have just used a small amount of gaussian blur on 3. use the selection tool, and set it to automatic 4. Tap the far right of the canvas and drag to the left to reduce the selection threshold. If this does not work, please send me an email to tim@vt.supply with a video of the issue so I can better assist you!
the only thing i can’t stand about this(not OP’s fault), is no matter how high you set your dpi, that white border is always jagged. it frustrates me that Procreate hasn’t made this process easier, like an “auto stroke” option with preset widths and effects, with SMOOTH borders. this method, is the issue, not this particular tutorial. others have produced similar tutorials. it’s what we’re left to deal with.
@@VisualTimmy that’s the whole point, that shouldn’t be necessary. i need it to be a finished outline, not a garbage outline that still needs hours of tweaking. Procreate failed with this and needs to improve it.
Yeah I don’t get this either. After automatic adjustment you say turn off layer then add new layer and select fill layer. All I get is a full screen of white and not the shape of my sticker. What’s the need for this step?
@@annajanesearle6706 Mine was doing this too, but I figured it out. I watched so many videos before this, spent hours trying to outline etc.
This was extremely helpful! I've got the process down packed now too!!
Also! Thank you for the approach and keeping it really concise, much appreciated
You're very welcome!

I appreciate the kind words, I hope that my vids are easy to digest and even easier to implement! Thanks :D
Very helpful! Thanks 💯👌🏾
Thanks so much for this.
I LOVE how this video was set up. Setup review?
soon :)
They need to add strokes or expand/contract selections ASAP. This work around is not good at all ☹️

3d option as well. you should be able to select what you want and stretch it and choose if you want it on that layer or not as well as outlining
Thank you!
Thank you so much!
no problem!

When you tap to select, don’t lift up your pen. Then slide to the left or right to adjust the selection strength!
Same, I have the same issue!
@@VisualTimmy didn’t work
I'm glad I'm not rhe only one that has issues. Legit been trying all day this way and everytime it stuffs up...
Make sure you zoom in first when you select the letter…
Omg I have been trying to find this kind of tutorial for so long
Glad you found it!
Mine doesn't have a blue outline, and when I do the ending fill layer, it turns the whole thing white 😭
I don’t get the blue screen either but then I have my background layer off is that’s what’s causing it?
Thank youuuuu! This really helped!
Happy to help 👍🏼
this was really clear and helpful, thank you Timmy
whenever I try to use the automatic selection tool, procreate is non responsive when I touch the stylus to the iPad. Can anyone help?
I would try to update your iPad iOS, then update the procreate app! Then restart the iPad. This usually solves any issues. Let me know!

What you can do is use this to get a rough outline, then take a hard round brush and try to get the smoothest possible line!

Mine doesnt show alpha lock
swipe right on the layer in the layers panel and alpha lock will turn on
It didn’t work :/
The mid step for the first process when you fill the layer for the second time doesn’t make any sense lol
