This has been infinitely helpful to me, thank you so much. I've been doing a terrible job of this in other ways for over a year now, this is by far the best method I've found. Thank you again!
You are so welcome and thank you for commenting. 🤗❤️ Also, I'm not sure if you've seen the newer one here: ua-cam.com/video/xPktZgRsUXE/v-deo.html But, I think it's even better (soooo fast).
Such an amazing and helpful video! I have been trying to figure this out for my use on my iPhone, and your method is by far the easiest to understand after watching one time without out having to pause and play over and over again like I did with many other videos. Thank you!!!!
Not only that this is extremely helpful, also you are a very good teacher. Although I am a very experienced graphic designer, the idea to tap these lines in their intended direction - i would not get immediately the idea of tapping simply. 🤷🏻♂️😄 Thanks!
Thanks for commenting and you are so welcome. 🤗❤️ And, I want to let you know about my most recent video. It shares another, no blur (and possibly better) way to outline. It’s super fast and provides greater control for the outline width. Happy creating!
thats amazing and so smart!!! i'm looking exactly for such technick because you can control the thickness of the outline but would it be possible to use for the text?
That’s a great question. I’m thinking that it would. There are two things that occur to me, however-you’d probably need to rasterize the text and it might be helpful to start with two text layers. The top layer would be in regular mode and the bottom layer would be in outline mode (Procreate does have a text outliner, but I don’t remember if you can control the thickness 🙂). Which gives me an idea for a future video 😉 Thanks so much for your comment! 🤗❤️
@@LizNess Thanks a lot for your kind answer :D I tried this technique with text and it works perfectly!! thank you soooo much!! you are a lifesaver!! ❤️
Oh yes! One of my earlier videos that sort of jumps right in-sorry about that. I used the script brush that comes with Procreate (I think it is within the Calligraphy set) and wrote the word “joy.” Then, I started recording the tutorial (oops). Thanks for asking about that🤗❤️
You don't even have to do all of this. Just trace the edges with a mono brush and boom outline. Just make sure the outline layer is at the bottom. If you're worried about it not being perfect, then it's your opportunity to get good at it the same way you got good at drawing. I see so many methods except the one that's the most effective being used. It's the fastest method and most accurate, but nobody does it. Feels like ppl want perfection in these methods, but none of these methods are perfect. The only way we'll get a perfect outline is if procreate adds a contour feature that has strong capabilities for producing outlines to anything. Never had a problem, the outlines always clean, and my stickers come out and cut just fine. Doesn't take long, and it's just one layer.
Agreed. I was just saying the same thing to my husband yesterday. Pretty soon, I’m going to share my 3 favorite techniques for an outline, but it would be so much more convenient if there was a feature, right?!? Thanks for commenting and hope your weekend is amazing 🤗❤️
Oops. I've done that before, too. Thank goodness for the undo button, right?!? Also, I don't know if you've seen my newer video on this--it's even easier/faster to get an outline. The link to it is: ua-cam.com/video/xPktZgRsUXE/v-deo.html
They just really need to add an outline feature in Procreate instead of some of these seldom used or other useless features. These workarounds are archaic.
This is the MOST useful tutorial for this outline that I have found so far!!! thanks!
I'm so glad! Thanks for your comment! =)
You’re the only one that showed me what I’ve been trying to find for days now. Thank you

I guess I don't understand how you got the "joy" layer.

PS I used the color black (which is important for this technique) when I wrote “Joy.”

This was great until I tried to "select" the white layer and then "cut" from the black layer :(
