Awesome MASK vids...brings back memories for sure. I remember going to my local KB Toys one day and found one T-Bob on the pegs, hidden behind some other stuff. My mind was own, as I had never seen one before, and never did again. So cool.
You brought me back to my Childhood! M.A.S.K. works MUCH better for a Crossover with Transformers than G I Joe! I really wanted this set as a kid, never had it. Still so nice to see it, thanks to you Mike!
I LOVE MASK, still have my original Boulder Hill playset and vehicles/figures too and I gotta say that blue top to the gas station was ALWAYS like that! Bowed from the day my Brother and I took it out of the box BRAND NEW in the 80s! I remember that SO CLEARLY, thinking the whoke thing should really be tighter. Yeah, all the pieces don't fit as tightly together as I would have liked, but I'm much happier they decided to make it than not! There's another YTer (goes by the name Cliff Dagger) and MASK enthusiast who made a "MASK Basement" for the playset as an add-on for us adult collectors and I really have to say it adds some more great detail and play features, helps it display better, and gives the playset more depth! Check it out when you have a chance, I'm hoping to get one to add to my collection.
I loved MASK.. in fact, years ago I got my start in ebay shopping by looking for MASK toys. And I have amassed a nice collection but sadly, to this day I have never had the Boulder Hill play set.
I once saw Boulder Hill in a shop when I was a kid. Asked if I could get it. My parents said if it was in the following week they'd get it,... it wasn't.
Gotta love retro Wednesdays! I remember this playset as I was a huge MASK guy as a kid, but sadly, my parents never sprung for it, lol! Great vid my guy!
@@tydiriumhanger1320 I actually bought the Boulder Hill playset off Ebay just recently. The original stickers were in a very poor state or were applied crooked, or had bubbles under them so I had to repro them. Fortunately I already had 2 repro sticker sets to choose from. One was from Amazingstickersco on Etsy while the other was from Zacparis in Australia. Both are great but also different. Amazingstickers uses vinyl so they withstand moisture better while Zacparis uses more of the original paper style. In the end I chose to go with the vinyl ones but you have to be careful as the vinyl is pretty thin and anything under the plastic will show through (also watch out for air bubbles). However, I found that the ones from Zacparis were a bit too dark compared to the originals while the ones from Amazingstickers were more like the original colors. Might have just been that particular batch though as I've bought from Zacparis in the past and they were awesome stickers. The hoses are a bit of a mystery. Some seem to cram them in the back of the white pump bodies but if you look at the pumps themselves they already have fuel nozzles and hozes moulded into the plastic. That's when someone in another video commented on the fact that some of the vehicles (like Condor) actually have a matching area where you can attach the hose. So it looks like Kenner did not specifically use these for fuel hoses but as something that you could plug into your vehicles so it looks like it is recharging something (its energy cannons perhaps?). Now I did check all my vehicles but only found a few that seemingly had this small round area where the hose could connect. I found them on Condor (bottom sides), Gator (bottom sides), Firecracker had slightly different looking ones (on top in the truckbed), and Rhino (just on top near the detachable support vehicle). So it's very cool that Kenner did this but strange that not all M.A.S.K. vehicles had them. 😉 EDIT: Just noticed something on my playset (and your video) but the jailcell also has the same type of round connectors. So even those can apparently connect hoses. Now I have to examine the tarmac and walls to see if hoses can also plug into there somewhere. Then lastly something that I saw over on Ebay in the UK was someone who made some very special decal sheets called "Ultimate Upgrade". I think he/she only made a couple so far with Gator, Jackhammer, and Boulder Hill but they offer a ton of extra stickers with which you can really deck out your vehicle with a lot more than the default little sheets that came stock with the toys. For Boulder Hill he/she even had a mask room on the back of the garage door I believe and then a sticker leading to the secret monorail as well as a lot of stickers for the floor sections. All in all it looked pretty impressive. Then he/she also had some kind of metallic/holographic style stickers for Jackhammer to really spruce up your toys if you wanted to. I believe his Ebay name was "grebesworth". Definitely check him/her out!
I got this for Christmas back then. The same year I really wanted the Cobra Terror Drome and Lazer Tag, with this a secondary desire. I like it, but am baffled as to why I got those gifts for Christmas (along with the GI Joe Tomahawk) but not the Terror Drome with took up space about like Boulder Hill and cost less than those presents combined. Anyway, in retrospect, a hidden gas station base just didn't feel like it had as much playability as a vehicle would. How many times would Venom attack the station? I liked all the space in the back of it but my collection never really went anywhere. As the M.A.S.K. headquarters, it wasn't kitted out with the proper infrastructure like the room where the members gathered and had their masks put on or some computer stations or something of that sort.
If they did that, Boulder Hill would have to have been much bigger than necessary. Not sure that would have worked, though. The price point would have been much higher.
I had recently taken the time to watch both an episode of MASK and an episode of the 1960's The Green Hornet, and I noticed a major gaffe in the cartoon! In both instances, at least one vehicle would be temporarily stored UPSIDE DOWN in the garage while the special vehicles were being deployed. In The Green Hornet series, the garage is part of Britt Reid's PRIVATE RESIDENCE, and thus could accommodate just two specially made vehicles, each possibly built with chassis that had Electric Fuel cells that would leave no oil leaking out of the engine while stored UPSIDE DOWN! The Boulder Hill service station in the cartoon M.A.S.K series has the special vehicles deploying through the same garage door that their customers' vehicles enter when those cars are brought in to be serviced; those cars WOULD leak oil when turned UPSIDE DOWN! To correct this gaffe, the service bay should be created with the floor as a LIFT that would LOWER the car into an area similar to what would be found at an oil changing place while a ramp comes down from the back of the bay to protect the customer's vehicle from damage while deploying the special vehicles!
Great video Mike!! Just wanted to say..maybe you should do a video on Xtransbots? 🤔 ..is X-transbots really becoming the Next Fanstoys. They release the Stunticons, the Quintesons, Hoist, Trailbreaker,..working on the Prosecutor, not to mention Kup and Springer. They also have Autobot Spike. I mean they really have been doing incredible work. ♥️
You know what back then in the mid 1990’s Kenner should make the M.A.S.K Boulder hill playset into The Lost City Of Zinj lost temple playset for Congo The Movie toys 🧸 the rest of Congo movie action figures are sold separately from Kenner!
I owned this because I loved M.A.S.K but it really was an underwhelming playset for me. It was pretty bare and sparse from the rear with not much to actually do. I understand the collection value but it really is nothing without other cool vehicles a good display piece and nothing more
you only missing the purple car, manta the only lady driver if i remember, it was my favority, the raptor jet and i think another car of the good guys, i was to young when i was a kid, i dont remember very well.
That Mazda ZX was driven by VENOM agent Vanessa Warfield. Gloria Baker's the MASK agent, and her vehicle was Shark, a car that was less used because they didn't have very many missions that would take an underwater route.
@@jeffreyweaver9854 Vanessa Warfield drove the Manta which was a Nissan 300ZX that turned into a fighter jet. That toy came in the Racing Series in 1987. The Shark(which was a Porsche 928/submarine) was a prototype but never made production. Which is a shame. I would have gotten it if it had been available.
I got Boulder Hill for my birthday back in the 80s….best day ever 😎
The 80s were just the best time to be a kid.
I got that for Christmas when I was a kid
Playing with this right now! Crazy I still have this after 30 years or so

Very fun

Best birthday present I ever got--and the only playset I ever got, unless you count the Starriors base which showed up at the discount store.

I was in the same boat but really had fun piecing this together a decade ago!

If you gently pull on the kickstand on condor, it extends and he becomes more stable as a helicopter.

Only major drawback is Rhino doesn't fit through the gate. Why Kenner, why?
If they did that, Boulder Hill would have to have been much bigger than necessary. Not sure that would have worked, though. The price point would have been much higher.
I said it before & I will say it again we need a M.A.S.K. come back!
And I agree with you. MASK needs to be brought back immediately.
My brother got this for Christmas in like ‘84 or ‘85
I love m.a.s.k more then gi joe i just need a few more vehicles to complete my child hood set
How do I get to listen to your background music?where to find it. I love it
Just sold all of my m.a.s.k. cars and bolder Hill play set
I bought Alex Sector and Buddy Hawks together as a figure 2-pack. I did the same with Scott and T-Bob.
I never managed to get many of the M.A.S.K. toys. Only had the motorcycles and the black car.
Could you fit Rhino inside boulder hill? I too had thunderhawk ❤
By the way Rhino looks amazing
Toys will never be the same

I don’t hope they have a lot of customers at this gasstation, because when it converts they will be squashed 😉
