I was born in 2003, so I am not a 90s kid. But, my dad REALLY likes this guy and a lot of singers from the 80s and 90s! He made me appreciate the good music back then, I HATE the new music today! (most of it anyway)

I remember getting this album for my 12th birthday. my two best friends did extra chores for the week to split the cost of probably a 7.99 cd back then but its was a gift I still appreciate and think about every time I hear beck. magical album and perhaps the best songwriter in the last 30 years
I was born a year after this came out and my parents kept playing the album when I was younger. So recently I thought I might give the album another listen and when I had reached this track I couldn't remember it at first until that saxophone kicked in at 1:28 and then many memories came back to me. Great stuff.

Saw Beck onstage in London back in 1997, he is a tremendous live performer. If Sheldon from " The Big Bang Theory" had watched Jackie Wilson on "Shindig!" and listened to trip-hop, this would be the ultimate conclusion. Superb. "Odelay" remains a true gem, twenty years after its' release.
I just recently tossed all my old cassettes, Odelay and Mellow Gold were both in there. One of the first CD's I ever bought was a Beck - Loser EP with 5 tracks. Best version of Soul Suckin Jerk imo.

Beck is my absolute favorite musical artist. He does, quite literally, EVERYTHING. Every sound, every genre. And he does it all amazingly well. This could easily be a mid 60s George Harrison Beatles song. Then his next song is industrial hip hop. Then Johnny Cash. Then soulful late stage Van Morrison. Just everything. And it is all unmistakably Beck, he has somehow mastered just about every genre of popular music of the past 60 years while still injecting his own style.
