  • There aren’t any other musicians quite like Beck. Born Bek Campbell, the indie musician incorporates all kinds of genres into his work, and he completely does his own thing, refusing to follow trends or be more mainstream. It’s definitely worked, as he has a Grammy to his name and continues to find success today.
    But how much do you know about the man behind the unique music? From the time he decided to mock the rules of the American Music Awards to the fascinating story behind his breakthrough hit, it’s time to take a look at the truth about Beck.

      I know this is a two week old conversation, but I just wanted to add that one of the qualifications for induction is that your first album must have been released at least 25 years prior to induction. 'Golden Feelings' came out in 1993, 26 years ago. He is just recently eligible. I feel he will be inducted. He is very influential and I hear his sound in many newer bands and solo artists.
      Arguments can be made one way or the other about the validity of the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and who they choose to induct and not to induct. However, _overall_ I tend to agree with who gets in and who doesn't. I said overall there. I am shocked at some of the groups and solo artists that are not inducted, and equally as appalled at some of the inductees.

    • @plyjhny
      @plyjhny 4 роки тому

      @@LilDroidBlue You might be confusing Beck, with Jeff Beck. I doubt this other Beck will be inducted. Golden Feelings may have come out in 1993 but I do believe it has to be an album of merit. The only other artist that I can think of that comes close to Beck is *MC 900 Foot Jesus,* who is equally brilliant, but not nearly as well know (seriously look him up). He was pretty big here in Dallas in the 90s. Played his CDs nearly to death. Kind of like I did to Beck's.

    Last comment i saw him utter on CO$ , after being asked about CO$ “ charity” work, went something like this ...... we have a drug rehab program called Al-ANON and they have like a 90 + success rate, so I’m told . The entire answer seemed very sheepish to me . Like, uhm, I have to say something positive and that’s the best he could think of on the fly . At least he didn’t tout the Anti- Psychiatry Museum .Honestly, I didn’t even know he was a CO$ until a couple years ago -even while living in L.A. in the 90’s- and am SO glad I didn’t as I would’ve absolutely not gotten to enjoy his music as I would never knowingly contribute money to anyone who might in turn give it to the CO$. We all have to draw the line somewhere, and that’s mine : Even got to enjoy seeing him play live in Nashville, TN. At a festival , as I still didn’t realize he was CO$- could’ve justified perhaps he was only 1 of many- the Violent Femmes blew all the other bands out of the water that night , in my humble opinion.

    And the answer to your question? As a diehard beck fan his latest album just like the last few "beats/pop" albums (as opposed to his folk albums which have mostly been meh) sadly SUCKS! Hes a genius who seemingly just isnt trying too hard anymore :(
