At the age of 41 finally I have come to the point to appreciate this track. For unknown reason this song takes me back to the 80's (and early 90's) where my heart belongs.
I’ve always thought that this was timeless. So way before it’s time. Never ages. So good more than 30 years later…come on not many songs can sound so ageless.
it's not before it's time at all, it's retrospective - a throw-back to 60s psychedelia. if you mean it's genius, I agree!! It might be timeless, though....But it uses the past, it's rooted in it.
This was the song back in the day! I was obsessed with this video and how DeeeLite had that 60's style infused into their songs. This song is pure gold! 🙌❤
Early 90s were more of a rejection of this kind of polished music in favor of the grunge style. If this would have been made in the late 90s it would have taken off.
@@9some In my experience, Superstition, By Stevie Wonder gets people on the floor. And as cheesy as it seems, so does The Humpty Dance, by Digital Underground.

Not really. Was spinning this in early 89 but. This was the pump up the jam marrs stuff kicking around. Good mixes..good decade ...80s. Early 90s..shit dosnt get like this anymore.
This whole video is a massive 60's throwback. Pretty much like everything else in the 90's. The 90's were a repeat of the swinging sixties (particularly in the U.K.), I can remember it well. It was a magical time to come of age.
I went to a carnival as a kid and won a game, my prize? This album. At first I was like...never heard of em but went home to listen to it and loved their vibe and diversity. This was my favorite song on it. Still love it.
@th it's not healthy to harbor hate my fellow human. Diversity is a beautiful thing. How can one appreciate the difference in any thing if it is all the same? It would be as if the world was a boring blank canvas. Diversity is the art on that canvas.
Still is a hit bro! You're totally right, nearly ³0 years old and just effortlessly throws a grenade in every time someone dusts it off....... Will forever be an arse shaker lol 😆😉Xx
did you know it was rumored that one of the Funkadelics was on this song maybe that could account for the ahead of its time nature if this is true I would surely think that's the reason of course new flavor makes a big difference as well but an old master knows things
Not really ahead of it's time so much as it's timeless...Bootsy Collins (the dude who talks at the end...legendary bass player for the James Brown band) co-wrote and played on this (as did Herby Hancock)...it's got a 60s feel, yet this was a big hit in the 90s (and could be a hit even today, like you said).

Her dance moves are so cool.
Groove is most definitely in the heart. Especially after half a bottle of whiskey. LOCKDOWN BABY
Sadie Hillyard heeeey! I heard that! Love Whiskey!

A nice, single malt Scotch... \m/ (:o)
Q-Tip's rap cameo was the icing on an otherwise already perfect concoction.
IKR, a true OG like Q-Tip on a crazy dance song makes it just awesome
Tip is a god
Yup. They managed to get Bootsy Collins and Q Tip for this track. That's an accomplishment in itself. Made for an unusually funky and unique track at the time. I really can't think of anything else quite like it.
@@justdope1963 not only those two but the JB horns also... Fred Wesley and maceo Parker.
@@justdope1963 B-52's give me a similar vibe. Not sound wise but just aesthetically
My jam! Takes me back to being a kid! I remember watching the video and loving their bold and colorful style and the psychedelic background. This song will NEVER get old! ❤

Still fresh and even hipper then when it came out.. This will be cool forever

You lady, your father was a authentic and genuine MAN. I say this without even knowing him because what he did when he gave you that i pod says alot about the man he was and the love he had for you. Wow, my heart goes out to you. Remeber him always and he will always be there with you.
I have tears reading your comment.. so sorry ☹️ I have to say your dad had the best taste in music ❤️

This song is so unique.. You got funk /rap and disco... On a whole other level... ✌️
Fantastic
What is not perfect in this song? The groove? The drums? The magnificant and legendary Bootsy? Or the gorgeous dancing and vocals...there is even a reference to Jimi...I dig it ! Groove is in the heart definately...
For me it starts at the moment she dances at 02:42
Don't forget the Dr. Suess reference as well----Horton Hears The Who.
Deee-Lite DOMINATED the airwaves in the early 90s. What Is Love was another hit. Instant classics the minute they launched.
What is love was by haddaway
At the age of 41 finally I have come to the point to appreciate this track. For unknown reason this song takes me back to the 80's (and early 90's) where my heart belongs.
At 42 it takes me back to the 90's and high school dances.
I think ill take a seat here with my fellow 40 year olds on the nostalgia train.
Same here, this was just normal radio music back then. For some reason it just clicked and I’m rediscovering how cool 90’s music was. Class of ‘97!
And I used to hate this song! Now I tolerate it. My life was a crap... my life is still a crap, but, at least I was young, slim and never got tired.
90’s i dont remember????
We was trippin it away 😂🤷🏼♂️
But i do remember this song!
Im 53… BTW
Perfection🔥🔥🔥
I’ve always thought that this was timeless. So way before it’s time. Never ages. So good more than 30 years later…come on not many songs can sound so ageless.
It ALWAYS gets people moving ✨
Shake your ass Kathryn ivison
it's not before it's time at all, it's retrospective - a throw-back to 60s psychedelia. if you mean it's genius, I agree!! It might be timeless, though....But it uses the past, it's rooted in it.
"Not many songs can sounds so ageless" could be a line in this song.
This is one of those songs that just never gets old. :) ❤️
1990: Groovy
1960: Groovy
2024: Groovy

I cant get how she did not become a bigger star. the music is so much fun.
Because she never sold her soul
Early 90s were more of a rejection of this kind of polished music in favor of the grunge style. If this would have been made in the late 90s it would have taken off.
@@anthonydelfino6171 great point. I agree.
@Boi people like her? What was she a Nazi? Please, it's not that serious. Go find a hobby.

I’ve always loved Deee-Lite but was blown away when Lady Kier sent me a direct message on Twitter in response to an art project I did. Her words were so meaningful & still can’t believe it. She & Deee-Lite have inspired me to pursue my passion for music & I’m glad I did.
Great story!! I love to hear a nice story, especially these days. Thanks for sharing. Best of luck to you.
Wow! That sounds amazing!
Did you like what she said? May you share it?
Great story!!! She comes across as a really decent person too in interviews
This song takes me back to simpler times to a dance club named Planet Earth when music was fun.
No doubt! Clubs were soooo fun in the 90s!
Agree to that, what happend it no longer fun, it gone now.

This entire video is like the scene segue's for "That 70's Show".

World Clique....Great album...
one of the best house songs ever made and especially the video which is fantastic
This song and video was miles ahead of its time. Could easily be a hit today
Still is a hit bro! You're totally right, nearly ³0 years old and just effortlessly throws a grenade in every time someone dusts it off....... Will forever be an arse shaker lol 😆😉Xx
Oh I very much agree
did you know it was rumored that one of the Funkadelics was on this song maybe that could account for the ahead of its time nature if this is true I would surely think that's the reason of course new flavor makes a big difference as well but an old master knows things
Are you insane.
