by scooping and getting into another game and then complaining online that they need to add time limits to turns in Master Duel so it don't take over 6min to do one
The worst is when you know you'll lose in one attack but no, the opponent still take a long time to do whatever he does to finally arrive to the same result of you losing. You could have killed me 6 mins ago, buddy. We're wasting time.
The worst is when *your opponent* knows you'll lose in one attack. He can have three 3000 ATK monsters on the field, and still tribute those two to summon something with 6000 ATK, and then attach that card and the remaining 3000 ATK monster to form a link monster that lets him special summon more 3000 ATK monsters for every card he detaches from it from his deck. Meanwhile, I'm over here with a clear board and 2000 LP.

Finding a match where you can just have a good old back and forth duel is rare. I don't care if I lose, just let me play already! Holy crap, this blew up, even like a week later!
Even worse when it's finally your turn, but then your opponent can make a move after every card you place down, and it takes them half a minute to figure out whether they want to or not.
Dream mirror archetype's gimmick is that your opponent's main phase is also your main phase. there's one more archetype like that i think it's Ursarctic, those are real fun trying to play real time strategy YGO with your opponent.
even worse when their internet keeps going in and out so they take even longer to decide. dear lord i still remember that accursed dragonmaid player taking 5 minutes per turn and 3 minutes on my battle phase turning into a 40minute game after that i have given up on ranked. i refuse to wait 2 minutes everytime for you to decide if you want activate ash blossom or not per card i play. stop slowplaying me!!!!
@@jmurray1110 that card is a purely skill related card I have seen so many people use it the moment the opponent's turn comes around not knowing what they're playing or even if they're going to special summon they just activate and send that is not how you play the card you need to know exactly what your opponent is playing and then go from there which why going second is the best turn

I literally just had my enemy do a 22min combo against me and then ended his turn I summoned 1 monster and he proceeded to put me through another 7 min combo.
Not to mention when it's finally your move and the oponent's card effects are still popping off and activating before you've even laid your first card down.
Mate not only that, there are duels in which I'm able to break through all the locks the opponent place against me and as soon as I turn the table around they surrender like mate at least stay until the end after all the bullshit you made me go through
These kind of duels end one of two ways: You either die of old age or the opponent scoops the second you so much as breathe on one of their combo pieces
@@stevenfreehoff2696 a lot of people quit when I get accesscode talker on the field. I like to quickplay and sometimes I just quit just because they take wayyy too long for their turn. Everyone so focused on copying someone else's meta deck there is no one out there for the heart of the cards.
I duelled a Predaplant user that had all the same cards as Yuri from the anime, and it was the most fun I’ve had in the game so far. We had a good back and forth, where I would have the advantage, then him, then me, and so on. By the end, I lost, but he only had 100lp left. Despite losing, I had loads of fun, and hope I meet more duelists like him.
I keep saying it but bronze to gold is the place to be. You either face people too bad to use their copied decks or Wack strategies I love. It’s been hilarious bulldozing or getting wrecked using my red dragon arch fiend deck
100% accurate. I’ve been playing thunder dragons in ranked and my turns usually last no more than 30 seconds. I blame link monsters and no limit with how many times you can special summon leading to these legitimate 10 minute turns.
Actually that would fix it, if they just implemented a new master rule that says ‘u can only activate x amount of spells or special summon x amount of times from the extra deck per turn, (or x amount of times from the deck)’ Something like that would definitely help because it would limit the amount of negates and allow people to potentially break the board even without the perfect ‘out’ card
@@DestructX The starting time is ok, i need over 300 seconds to just set my board, what they should reduce is the added time after each turn, that is to much.
If you can banish their herald or monster reborn it after destroying it, they lose. most decks only run a single copy and they usually have no way of getting over the high defense.
@@gamebotsonline the only real way to get rid of heald is with either a Kaiju or using something like super polymerization altho there are not really that many good generic light monsters that you can use with super polymerization except maybe a despain

Can't have it both ways. Get countered before building unbreakable board on first turn, or play smart to avoid getting ash blossomed on critical combo points

It would be nice if Master Duel had a filter option for what type of game you’d like to play, meaning what era of YGO. I do believe a lot of people want to go back and battle with old cards and get that nostalgia but they’re like “what’s the use?” since their opponent will most likely Be using some 2022 meta deck.
When you surrender and your opponent thinks its because you've admitted defeat but really you just don't care about all these cards you've never heard of dancing around his side of the field doing god knows what, and just want to play the damn game.
This is me as a duel links player. lol That board looks a little scary now and my hand is not the best, I'll just surrender even if I don't know exactly what those cards do. lol

I dip every time. I do not care. I use a trickstar deck that chains along. But I click through fast to not waste time. It these people who build a deck from online. Don't practice it at all. And go into ranked. Having to read each card fully during the duel. Understand your deck Jesus. Rant over haha
Master Duel was my first time getting back into Yu-Gi-Oh since 2015. Imagine my surprise when my second duel out of the gate was against a Drytron-Herald deck and I quite literally couldn't even play the game. Fun times. Fun times.
hahah same. dont like that duels are over by turn 2 or 3. how did yugioh became like this. I used to play OTK batteyman and not spam 30 cards one turn and have a checkmate by turn 1
You think when Drytron, Herald users are going through their 5 minute combo they’re thinking to themselves “he he, my opponent has no idea what’s coming” even though we face the exact same carbon copy deck 10 times a day, seeing the exact same combo, to the point that they could literally be replaced by an AI and we wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
That is extremely accurate. 90% of the time it's the same five decks over and over doing the same combos. If I had more card opinions I could likely build a better counter to all these decks.
@@sockosophie3132 after I get all the rank prizes I play with whatever I want. Also, it's pretty bad, but not as bad as people say. I think all this comboing makes the game a slog, but these decks are not invincible or uncounterable. They're releasing different formats soon, fortunately.
Most of my opponents always seem to have the heart of the cards with them doing all these combos and summons. Literally most matches I spend just watching for 7 minutes 😒 so it can be my turn.
Nope. No heart of the cards needed. These new decks are so consistent that even with a “bad” hand you can get your endgame strategy in the same turn still.

I think a good idea would be to add a separate ranked mode that only includes cards up to a certain point, like only old school cards for example, itd be a lot more fun for casual old heads like me and I think the community in general
You're foolish to think that makes a difference, there has always been a meta in this game, you'll just get crushed by 2005 GOAT format meta decks instead of 2022 ones, just saying.

They're not asking to play in a game where there's no meta; rather, it's to play a game where you actually know the cards and don't have to worry about 5+ summoning mechanics, 3+ negates, a bounce and an instant lose the next turn if you don't have the proper cards in your starting hand 8/10 duels. I honestly can't blame the people who feel this way. Out of all the really popular card games throughout their years, Yu-Gi-Oh has changed the most from what it used to be, almost in a way that would alienate its older players. Keep in mind if you like the changes that have happened, you're allowed to, obviously I'm not trying to disregard any feelings you have toward the current/previous states of the game.
have you cleared the world chalice vs mekkknight duel where you don't get an extradeck? I'm still not sure how that one is possible unless the ai bricks 2 turns in a row.
It was the Karakuri's for me. It felt like I was trying to play Chess/Go/Shogi the whole time. I was spending forever re-reading cards trying to figure out how things would unfold. Then I would forget one thing and get killed for it. I thought they were supposed to be mirror matches but clearly they aren't. That one card where they wipe your whole field just because they were in face-up defense position. That was my hardest one.
This is what Yugioh is these days. It's one hundred percent negate everything and long turns to get there. I like the gameplay system but there are too many ways to create lockdown strategies. I like actually being able to play the game and have actual back and forth interaction. Not just locking things down or being locked down.
This is the first ive played this sort of yugioh and it is kinda impressive how much interaction there is between turns. Like how even on someone elses turn you can still do a lot of On Turn things leading to a lot of back and forth Doing Things, without even necessarily being Waiting For Your Turn This is one Weird card gane
@@colmecolwag Yeah don’t get me wrong that’s fun to an extent but I just feel as though the game exerts to many ways negate/prevent your opponent from doing things. I think doing things like synchro summoning on your opponents turn into something like sattelight warrior is cool though.
@@supersoldier4079 i do think theres fun in one side of "ok i got one ash blossom which move here is the Essential one that i need to block" that is tough to tell unless you studied all of yugioh ever and i think that can be fun And also trying to do the board breaks going "ok how do i bait out the negate so i can Actually do damage" can be a fun mind game too But you can end up in some pretty hopeless situations too and that just sorta stinks
@@colmecolwag I get where your coming from mate I like to use negates to either protect my strategy or break my opponents strategies as well. But I just feel like with the mechanics and ban list there’s just too many ways to develop lockdown strategies. Once in a while negates are fun. But the amount we have is just too much. One or two negates is balanced but seven or eight negates is a mess.
So. Duel... He started special summon. He was first. I activated Maxx "C".... He let us throw our hand away and draw 5 new cards. Than he started summon more. After 30 summons while i had my deck in my hand i realized he will push that to the limit. He done 35 summons. It was my turn and i lost cause i couldnt draw a card as i had them all in my hand lol. I kinda think it gone a bit too far lol

Remember when it was a reward to summon a high power, high level monster and you had control of the field? Now, you can summon multiple monsters of 3000+ ATK in one damn move, and not even on your own turn🤦🏻♂️. There’s no joy in it anymore

Is there more to Numberons than running 3x of the wall guy that ends the Battle Phase and searches the field , 3x of the field spell and 2x of the spell that the field spell copies to summon 4 monsters from the ED? It's the part I'm familiar with -- engine of sorts. Is there more to the Numeron archetype? o.o

Yeah feeling this 10 times over. Ever since links Era combo decks got way out of hand with long chains to establish unkillable fields or just destroy you in one turn unless you had that one specific card to out them. While I disliked when pendulums came out, at least I knew I could still fight my way out of their fields. Nowadays, I'm comfortable in duel links....for now
@@fn2025 honestly, the trend started a very long time ago... i remember thinking "this is way too long a combo for it to be a necessity for the archetype to work and for it to be played in basically every turn" even back in in like 2013 with spellbooks. but that's what happens if you have a balancing approach of "the next thing we release has to be just a bit stronger every time, so people have to buy it".
@@erysecret the difference between then and now if the amount of counters they could use to stop you. Even if they had huge boards, there were more cards that could squash that field easily and give you a way out and it wasn't as easy to justify that huge commitment because if those monsters died all at once, it was hard to recover from that. Synchro and xyz had those same fields, but not to that extent we have now. Currently, if you don't have Multiple answers to the opponent's field, it's over. The graveyard is essentially their second hand and not a punishment anymore. Hand traps, plus boss monsters with negates against field wipes are pretty much the norm, and the skill gap is higher than before.

I just rage-quit an event match against Floowandereeze. After waiting 5 minutes for his first turn to end, I played ONE CARD and he started chaining stuff for the next 13 minutes. I'm just like, "funny, it's MY turn, didn't he get the memo?"
This!! I hate that so much. You already sitting there on their 5 min turn. Now they wanna chain sutff for another 5 minutes on your own turn. No wonder I quit this game.

This why Geargeiar Mate is best mate. You can play Rock Paper Scissors with him while waiting for these LONG ASS turns to be done. Hell, you could have a Duel Links match in that time too.
You can do many duel links duels in one master duel, but that's not an issue for me, I want quick I go to duel links. I want a but more variety, and startegies and cards (since duel links while fun, doesn't have a lot of cards, and has been stale for a while with the tier list
@@TheFallinhalo One PlayStation it holding L1 and pressing L2. I didn't even know L1 did anything until I pressed the wrong button trying to quickly see the number of cards in the opponent's deck.
I play a going second deck so the moment I saw a drytron card from my opponent, I instantly scoop. I tried to give it a go and play against drytron twice but even with my best hand, opponent just negated everything. Worse part is that drytron deck is very consistent so even with the brickiest of hand, they would still get at least summon ultimateness or perfection based on my experience. So moving forward, I ain't wasting my time with them setting up their board for 10 minutes.
I was just in a duel like that in the game yesterday,. Those decks people make where making one move takes hours because they insist on chaining as many cards as humanly possible drive me insane! It’s like, I just want to play the game! Whatever happened to setting a monster and a couple of cards face-down and calling it a turn? 😆
setting a monster and a couple traps is so boring. might as well play MTG then. Yugioh allows crazy plays and insane combos, anything slower would be incredibly tedious and not unique compared to HS, MTG, or even Pokemon.
About 15 years of releasing new cards, of course the game has changed. Hopefully they'll introduce some formats like Edison or Goat format. Getting real sick of everyone complaining about this
@@gamebotsonline Ah yes shuffling my deck 5000 times per turn and setting seven monsters in a single turn that say "Ay yo skip your next turn cause you ain't playin shit" is much more intuitive for both players. Atleast during synchros when someone summoned stardust or played junk synchron i could play the game too like god damn dude.
@@york7301 idk what to tell you guy, play a deck that can push through the negates. If your deck can't compete then you gotta play a different one. I'm playing shiranui and having a blast since, unless my opponent opened the absolute nuts, I can still break their boards most of the time.
It's shocking how accurate this is. I play a normal Gladiator Beasts deck, not too complicated, just some monster effects and Fusion monsters. That's it. The amount of times I have surrendered a duel literally cause I want to take my turn and my opponent is taking 10 minutes for THEIR FIRST TURN is way higher than it should be. I just wanna play man, lemme play. And then when I actually get my turn, I can do literally nothing cause they have a response to any and all cards I put out. Even if all I can do is just summon and put a trap/spell card down. It gets real annoying real fast.
I remember waiting for nine minutes before being finished off because the opponent had multiple Tuners that were special summoner via Junk Speeder and deciding which monsters to synchro summon.
That’d be amazing if it was you. One of the synchro summoned monsters were Ruddy Rose Dragon, Stardust Charge Warrior, Martial March Mercher, and Stardust Spark Dragon. Sadly I don’t have that replay as it has been deleted without notice.

Yes, thank you! I thought I was the only one experiencing this waking nightmare. I swear I can feel myself physically getting older while I wait for the opponent to take their turn, it's also comforting to see people sharing other painful aspects of the game I've endured. Opponent still playing Build-A-Board Workshop when they could have attacked for game fifteen minutes ago? Check. Getting negated every time you so much as breathe? Check. Wondering how in the world they haven't run down the timer yet when you can do laundry and make dinner before they're halfway done with their turn? Check. Falling further into despair when the opponent is still playing their turn, during YOUR turn, and taking just as long as they were during their own? Double check. I want to like this game a lot more, the graphics and music are pretty good and the card selection is vast but good gravy, the banlist needs to be revised and turns need to be drastically shortened, among other improvements that are sorely needed. I think one problem is aside from the near absence of a sufficient banlist, the point system in ranked seems to reward the play every card in your deck overkill approach. I could be wrong but I think that's part of the issue, the game encourages it. I don't think Yu-Gi-Oh has ever been this agonizingly slow, a game is only fun when you get to play. On a personal side note, I'm tired of seeing the same decks over and over. I want decks that are fun to play against, not decks that basically tell you no every time you try to play like Eldlitch, Sky Strikers, and Drytrons, which make up almost all the decks I've played against. For real, have these people considered trying Solitaire? I think they'd like it.
i do have a solution that does get to the source of alot of the problems, but sadly people seem to not like it, but ill copy and paste my idea from a earlier comment. "he problem isnt the Era of Decks, the main problem is that you can now pull of rediculous amounts of Special Summons each turn now, they are far more Common and normal then "Normal Summons" because they are so rampant and easy to pull off now. Konami just needs to Hit Special Summons and the problem would go away. i say we are in need of a new Master Rule that implements a new Mechanic called SST (Special Summon Tokens) you start a duel off with 5 of these and you only get +1 with each of youre turns and they do stack, and each Special Summon deducts a Token from the pool, So turn 1 you can only special summon up to 5 times. once the pool hits 0, you are forbidden from confucting more special summons until the next turn, at which point you can only do 1. it would really pull back on the abuse of special summons and forces a player to give priority to certain cards, knowing they can only do so many special summons. ohya and they need to just bite the bullet and Officially Eliminate Hand traps from the game, Stop printing them, remove them from Master Duel, and Perma ban them from offical tournaments and locals. Hand traps are extremely unhealthy for the game. "
@@TheFallinhalo I think some form of this idea could work, you'd have to be more concise with your plays and you'd still have access to your extra deck (lord knows I love my Dante and Beatrice) but it would give your opponent a chance to play, at a greater or lesser advantage depending on how many tokens you held onto. Your idea is sound, and with some review and maybe a few improvements here and there it could be pitched to Konami. Maybe you or a group of friends could test this idea out on Dueling Book or something like that? A controlled environment where everything is manual and y'all can keep track of the tokens over a call. I do like this idea, so let me know if you test it and if it works well.

Lol I remember going second, opponent took 8 years to end his turn, the moment I set a trap card down, they activated a monster effect and took like 10 min worth of action while I was still in main phase 1. I'll be honest, I just quit the match.
Had played a duel with heroes player, setting up his entire board making combos… and my opening hand had lightning storm and reigeki, wiped the entire board with 2 cards 😂😂
@@bluerocket5127 an easier solution would be a red eyes direct damage deck rather then have to go through the heros just directly burn the player using them had a duel where i 8900 damaged a player using them turn 3

Yeah I feel you guys on that one. And this isn't even the worst offender being pictured here. Even worse are the people who jump into ranked with 0 clue on how their cards work, reading them as they go and worst of all, reading slower than you, so you can come up with a strategy earlier than them and then you need to painfully wait for them to execute their combo, at times, taking even more time *IN YOUR TURN* with special summoning monsters, than you need for your entire turn. If you, reading this comment, are one of these people: *It's time to stop*
The best thing about Master Duel is honestly the Table Room system. One room for 8 players (it could definitely expand to 16), everyone duels each other as the game goes along, and start rotating from friend to another as everyone finishes their duels.
The best part is when you get someone new to the combo deck, so each part takes them forever, as they have to read their cards, and double check everything, to make sure they're going down the linear path correctly. Master Duel really showed me how machine like, and boring some decks and players are.
You see the thing is no matter how creative your deck is there will always be a best end state. There is nothing you can do about that but always try to make that best turn one. Stuff my be different depending on your opponent board but 90% of the time if you can get your best board you will go for it.
I don't get the logic of people like you? YGO has always been this way, the game you were playing as a kid wasn't even the most optimal way to play back then. Overpowered decks already existed since the game's inception most notably FTK decks that literally finish you off on Turn 1 lol. Keep crying Yugib0omer.
Was really hoping that that the punchline would be the second he grabs the controller to do his turn the game decides he's taking to long and makes him forfeit the Duel.
Had that happen to me, waited over 5 minutes for my opponent to finish his turn, come my turn I got up for less than 60 seconds and I come back and the game made me forfeit, I was so mad.
The moment I experienced this in my first 2 duels in Master Duel, I've come to a conclusion that I need the extra space that this game has taken---along the time I wasted watching the enemies doing their combo, so I uninstalled it
My turn 1s have gotten down to under 30 seconds twice in my first week of playing. That first time when I finally realized that the turn timer doesn't reset on your opponent's turn was the biggest panic I've had in a while. I had Firewall Dragon Darkfluid with 4 counters, Excode Talker, and Cynet Conflict. 5 possible negates, but the timer made me hit cancel so fast! The second duel was against Thunder Dragons, and I really pushed it to the limit: down to 5 seconds, and didn't need to activate any of my negates. Won turn 3 by using my Code Radiator on Colossus (for the ATK to 0 effect, didn't even need the negation) and attacked with Darkfluid for 13,000 damage.
What 😂, so basically you didn’t actually make it yourself ? , because it wouldn’t make sense to make a “incredible deck” without knowing what amazing cards your putting in it or their effects . I'm a returnee after many years and without even really looking into the meta I decided to build a Monarch deck because I used it in solo mode and thought it was cool. I used a UA-cam video to build the deck but it didn't take me long at all to figure out the combos because I read over all the cards and while obviously not meta I've held my own in ranked
I felt bad when my Cyber Dragon combo took 1-2 Minutes to finish... but then i met a Drytron player and now i know that i am lightning fast in comparison lmao
Cydra doesn't have quite combo except when they do, some other solitare non-linear combo is just annoying enough to wait, penalty for surrendering and plus unplayable Yugioh after they make board is just annoying enough
I am at this point in master duel when I am uninstalling for good. I am fed up of people taking 30 minutes to summon their entire deck have nothing but god mosters that negate everything so you can't do anything. Its like what's the fucking point in playing. Not even meta decks are working for me.
I wish I could go to a store while waiting, but so many effects want to be confirmed. I don't understand why the game keeps asking if I want to activate an ability that has been nullified!
Jokes aside, this video is a perfect example of why I can't fully enjoy yugioh anymore. It's not about playing each other anymore. It's about: Did you go first? No? Did you draw any handtraps? No? You lose.
True, your opening hand literally decides whether you can play the game or not. It's ridiculous, YuGiOh might as well be a single player game if the second player are guaranteed to lose 90% of the time due to factors outside of their control
The WORST version of this is when my opponent can just win if they went to battle phase and attacked. But NOOOOOO. You just have to spend an extra 15 minute combo to bring out your boss monster for no reason other than BM.
Just going to battle phase like that is a good way to throw the game. There are players who will tell you you've won and to just go to combat, but will have a hand trap or something hidden the grave or banish zone ready to make a comeback. An end board will generally have a way to bounce back if the opponent is up to something. There's just not really a good reason to stop a combo early unless you want to preserve some extenders in case of retaliation
@@cetitanenthusiast776 Dude it's a ranked game in mid Gold, not YCS. We're 4 turns in, he's wiped my board. If I had hand traps I would have used them by now. Not to mention the game LITERALLY prompts your opponent if they have a response. You can tell of they have a handtrap.
I miss the good ol back and forth duels like in the anime where you get the upper hand, then they bring it back and now you need to bring it back and then it's an epic finish. Even if I lose, I love those matches.This is the biggest problem with master duel. Loving the game but I had 25 mins left before I had to leave to do something important in the community. This one duel took almost 25 mins. The guy went on forever and took forever to make his moves. He had T.G librarian on the field so every synchro summon he drew a card. He did like 6 synchro summons in one turn, plus the link summons and special summons etc. I got bored and had to leave the match. They need to reduce the time we have per turn.

The worst is when *your opponent* knows you'll lose in one attack. He can have three 3000 ATK monsters on the field, and still tribute those two to summon something with 6000 ATK, and then attach that card and the remaining 3000 ATK monster to form a link monster that lets him special summon more 3000 ATK monsters for every card he detaches from it from his deck.
Meanwhile, I'm over here with a clear board and 2000 LP.
When they try to overkill in this game, I just scoop. No need to take 10 mins to rub it in, champ..just attack. Lol

Dream mirror archetype's gimmick is that your opponent's main phase is also your main phase. there's one more archetype like that i think it's Ursarctic, those are real fun trying to play real time strategy YGO with your opponent.

@@jmurray1110 that card is a purely skill related card I have seen so many people use it the moment the opponent's turn comes around not knowing what they're playing or even if they're going to special summon they just activate and send that is not how you play the card you need to know exactly what your opponent is playing and then go from there which why going second is the best turn

i was playing against a drytron deck and they were taking so long i just surrendered mid turn just so i could get out of there.
I literally just had my enemy do a 22min combo against me and then ended his turn I summoned 1 monster and he proceeded to put me through another 7 min combo.

These kind of duels end one of two ways: You either die of old age or the opponent scoops the second you so much as breathe on one of their combo pieces

Everyone so focused on copying someone else's meta deck there is no one out there for the heart of the cards.
I've actually surrendered more matches than actual loses because of this. Dudes really be doing the most.
I duelled a Predaplant user that had all the same cards as Yuri from the anime, and it was the most fun I’ve had in the game so far. We had a good back and forth, where I would have the advantage, then him, then me, and so on. By the end, I lost, but he only had 100lp left. Despite losing, I had loads of fun, and hope I meet more duelists like him.
Those are the best duels.

I keep saying it but bronze to gold is the place to be. You either face people too bad to use their copied decks or Wack strategies I love. It’s been hilarious bulldozing or getting wrecked using my red dragon arch fiend deck
100% accurate. I’ve been playing thunder dragons in ranked and my turns usually last no more than 30 seconds. I blame link monsters and no limit with how many times you can special summon leading to these legitimate 10 minute turns.

Actually that would fix it, if they just implemented a new master rule that says ‘u can only activate x amount of spells or special summon x amount of times from the extra deck per turn, (or x amount of times from the deck)’
Something like that would definitely help because it would limit the amount of negates and allow people to potentially break the board even without the perfect ‘out’ card

If you can banish their herald or monster reborn it after destroying it, they lose. most decks only run a single copy and they usually have no way of getting over the high defense.

It would be nice if Master Duel had a filter option for what type of game you’d like to play, meaning what era of YGO. I do believe a lot of people want to go back and battle with old cards and get that nostalgia but they’re like “what’s the use?” since their opponent will most likely Be using some 2022 meta deck.
I literally play duel links while waiting for my turn and I feel like I'm practicing my multitasking in the worst way possible.
When you surrender and your opponent thinks its because you've admitted defeat but really you just don't care about all these cards you've never heard of dancing around his side of the field doing god knows what, and just want to play the damn game.

Master Duel was my first time getting back into Yu-Gi-Oh since 2015. Imagine my surprise when my second duel out of the gate was against a Drytron-Herald deck and I quite literally couldn't even play the game. Fun times. Fun times.

You think when Drytron, Herald users are going through their 5 minute combo they’re thinking to themselves “he he, my opponent has no idea what’s coming” even though we face the exact same carbon copy deck 10 times a day, seeing the exact same combo, to the point that they could literally be replaced by an AI and we wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
That is extremely accurate. 90% of the time it's the same five decks over and over doing the same combos. If I had more card opinions I could likely build a better counter to all these decks.

Most of my opponents always seem to have the heart of the cards with them doing all these combos and summons. Literally most matches I spend just watching for 7 minutes 😒 so it can be my turn.

They're not asking to play in a game where there's no meta; rather, it's to play a game where you actually know the cards and don't have to worry about 5+ summoning mechanics, 3+ negates, a bounce and an instant lose the next turn if you don't have the proper cards in your starting hand 8/10 duels. I honestly can't blame the people who feel this way. Out of all the really popular card games throughout their years, Yu-Gi-Oh has changed the most from what it used to be, almost in a way that would alienate its older players. Keep in mind if you like the changes that have happened, you're allowed to, obviously I'm not trying to disregard any feelings you have toward the current/previous states of the game.

Now do one where you're doing solo mode with those awful loaner decks. The really bad campaigns took me around 20 tries until the NPC bricked.
From what I have done the worst were the megaliths, that CPU took 5 min per play
have you cleared the world chalice vs mekkknight duel where you don't get an extradeck? I'm still not sure how that one is possible unless the ai bricks 2 turns in a row.

It was the Karakuri's for me. It felt like I was trying to play Chess/Go/Shogi the whole time. I was spending forever re-reading cards trying to figure out how things would unfold. Then I would forget one thing and get killed for it. I thought they were supposed to be mirror matches but clearly they aren't. That one card where they wipe your whole field just because they were in face-up defense position. That was my hardest one.
This is what Yugioh is these days. It's one hundred percent negate everything and long turns to get there. I like the gameplay system but there are too many ways to create lockdown strategies. I like actually being able to play the game and have actual back and forth interaction. Not just locking things down or being locked down.
This is the first ive played this sort of yugioh and it is kinda impressive how much interaction there is between turns. Like how even on someone elses turn you can still do a lot of On Turn things leading to a lot of back and forth Doing Things, without even necessarily being Waiting For Your Turn

@@colmecolwag I get where your coming from mate I like to use negates to either protect my strategy or break my opponents strategies as well. But I just feel like with the mechanics and ban list there’s just too many ways to develop lockdown strategies. Once in a while negates are fun. But the amount we have is just too much. One or two negates is balanced but seven or eight negates is a mess.

Ever since links Era combo decks got way out of hand with long chains to establish unkillable fields or just destroy you in one turn unless you had that one specific card to out them. While I disliked when pendulums came out, at least I knew I could still fight my way out of their fields. Nowadays, I'm comfortable in duel links....for now

@@fn2025 honestly, the trend started a very long time ago... i remember thinking "this is way too long a combo for it to be a necessity for the archetype to work and for it to be played in basically every turn" even back in in like 2013 with spellbooks. but that's what happens if you have a balancing approach of "the next thing we release has to be just a bit stronger every time, so people have to buy it".

@@erysecret the difference between then and now if the amount of counters they could use to stop you. Even if they had huge boards, there were more cards that could squash that field easily and give you a way out and it wasn't as easy to justify that huge commitment because if those monsters died all at once, it was hard to recover from that. Synchro and xyz had those same fields, but not to that extent we have now. Currently, if you don't have Multiple answers to the opponent's field, it's over. The graveyard is essentially their second hand and not a punishment anymore. Hand traps, plus boss monsters with negates against field wipes are pretty much the norm, and the skill gap is higher than before.
It’s even funnier when they building up their board only to have it all tumbling down because of an ash blossom and infinite impermanence.😂

I just rage-quit an event match against Floowandereeze. After waiting 5 minutes for his first turn to end, I played ONE CARD and he started chaining stuff for the next 13 minutes. I'm just like, "funny, it's MY turn, didn't he get the memo?"

Play pendulum the summons are pendulum summons not special or tribute so maxx c doesn’t work if you summon in a whole army first turn

You can do many duel links duels in one master duel, but that's not an issue for me, I want quick I go to duel links. I want a but more variety, and startegies and cards (since duel links while fun, doesn't have a lot of cards, and has been stale for a while with the tier list

I play a going second deck so the moment I saw a drytron card from my opponent, I instantly scoop. I tried to give it a go and play against drytron twice but even with my best hand, opponent just negated everything. Worse part is that drytron deck is very consistent so even with the brickiest of hand, they would still get at least summon ultimateness or perfection based on my experience. So moving forward, I ain't wasting my time with them setting up their board for 10 minutes.
Yea unless you open with forbidden droplet, or droll and lock bird you'll probably be out of luck going 2nd.

I was just in a duel like that in the game yesterday,. Those decks people make where making one move takes hours because they insist on chaining as many cards as humanly possible drive me insane! It’s like, I just want to play the game! Whatever happened to setting a monster and a couple of cards face-down and calling it a turn? 😆
setting a monster and a couple traps is so boring. might as well play MTG then. Yugioh allows crazy plays and insane combos, anything slower would be incredibly tedious and not unique compared to HS, MTG, or even Pokemon.
About 15 years of releasing new cards, of course the game has changed. Hopefully they'll introduce some formats like Edison or Goat format. Getting real sick of everyone complaining about this

It's shocking how accurate this is. I play a normal Gladiator Beasts deck, not too complicated, just some monster effects and Fusion monsters. That's it. The amount of times I have surrendered a duel literally cause I want to take my turn and my opponent is taking 10 minutes for THEIR FIRST TURN is way higher than it should be. I just wanna play man, lemme play. And then when I actually get my turn, I can do literally nothing cause they have a response to any and all cards I put out. Even if all I can do is just summon and put a trap/spell card down. It gets real annoying real fast.
I remember waiting for nine minutes before being finished off because the opponent had multiple Tuners that were special summoner via Junk Speeder and deciding which monsters to synchro summon.

That isnt me. I play junk speeder but i basically know exactly what i want to summon. So at most my turn is 3.5 minutes.

I've legitimately gone to the restroom mid duel on several occasions, just to come back to the opponents turn still.

The best feeling in yugioh is when your opponent does their 20 card sweat combo then hit them with a simple counter and win.

Yes, thank you! I thought I was the only one experiencing this waking nightmare. I swear I can feel myself physically getting older while I wait for the opponent to take their turn, it's also comforting to see people sharing other painful aspects of the game I've endured.
Opponent still playing Build-A-Board Workshop when they could have attacked for game fifteen minutes ago? Check. Getting negated every time you so much as breathe? Check. Wondering how in the world they haven't run down the timer yet when you can do laundry and make dinner before they're halfway done with their turn? Check. Falling further into despair when the opponent is still playing their turn, during YOUR turn, and taking just as long as they were during their own? Double check.
I want to like this game a lot more, the graphics and music are pretty good and the card selection is vast but good gravy, the banlist needs to be revised and turns need to be drastically shortened, among other improvements that are sorely needed. I think one problem is aside from the near absence of a sufficient banlist, the point system in ranked seems to reward the play every card in your deck overkill approach. I could be wrong but I think that's part of the issue, the game encourages it. I don't think Yu-Gi-Oh has ever been this agonizingly slow, a game is only fun when you get to play.
On a personal side note, I'm tired of seeing the same decks over and over. I want decks that are fun to play against, not decks that basically tell you no every time you try to play like Eldlitch, Sky Strikers, and Drytrons, which make up almost all the decks I've played against. For real, have these people considered trying Solitaire? I think they'd like it.
I play either Dark Magician, Blue Eyes, Red Eyes, Blackwings,or Ra myself. I can't stand this waiting all day to get a turn crap.

"he problem isnt the Era of Decks, the main problem is that you can now pull of rediculous amounts of Special Summons each turn now, they are far more Common and normal then "Normal Summons" because they are so rampant and easy to pull off now.
Konami just needs to Hit Special Summons and the problem would go away.
i say we are in need of a new Master Rule that implements a new Mechanic called SST (Special Summon Tokens)
you start a duel off with 5 of these and you only get +1 with each of youre turns and they do stack, and each Special Summon deducts a Token from the pool, So turn 1 you can only special summon up to 5 times. once the pool hits 0, you are forbidden from confucting more special summons until the next turn, at which point you can only do 1.
it would really pull back on the abuse of special summons and forces a player to give priority to certain cards, knowing they can only do so many special summons.
ohya and they need to just bite the bullet and Officially Eliminate Hand traps from the game, Stop printing them, remove them from Master Duel, and Perma ban them from offical tournaments and locals. Hand traps are extremely unhealthy for the game.

@@TheFallinhalo I think some form of this idea could work, you'd have to be more concise with your plays and you'd still have access to your extra deck (lord knows I love my Dante and Beatrice) but it would give your opponent a chance to play, at a greater or lesser advantage depending on how many tokens you held onto. Your idea is sound, and with some review and maybe a few improvements here and there it could be pitched to Konami. Maybe you or a group of friends could test this idea out on Dueling Book or something like that? A controlled environment where everything is manual and y'all can keep track of the tokens over a call. I do like this idea, so let me know if you test it and if it works well.

Yeah I feel you guys on that one. And this isn't even the worst offender being pictured here. Even worse are the people who jump into ranked with 0 clue on how their cards work, reading them as they go and worst of all, reading slower than you, so you can come up with a strategy earlier than them and then you need to painfully wait for them to execute their combo, at times, taking even more time *IN YOUR TURN* with special summoning monsters, than you need for your entire turn.

The best thing about Master Duel is honestly the Table Room system. One room for 8 players (it could definitely expand to 16), everyone duels each other as the game goes along, and start rotating from friend to another as everyone finishes their duels.

One time my friend let me go first and got his laundry done while I was still doing my combo!
The best part is when you get someone new to the combo deck, so each part takes them forever, as they have to read their cards, and double check everything, to make sure they're going down the linear path correctly.
Master Duel really showed me how machine like, and boring some decks and players are.
You see the thing is no matter how creative your deck is there will always be a best end state. There is nothing you can do about that but always try to make that best turn one. Stuff my be different depending on your opponent board but 90% of the time if you can get your best board you will go for it.
I don't get the logic of people like you? YGO has always been this way, the game you were playing as a kid wasn't even the most optimal way to play back then. Overpowered decks already existed since the game's inception most notably FTK decks that literally finish you off on Turn 1 lol. Keep crying Yugib0omer.

Was really hoping that that the punchline would be the second he grabs the controller to do his turn the game decides he's taking to long and makes him forfeit the Duel.
Had that happen to me, waited over 5 minutes for my opponent to finish his turn, come my turn I got up for less than 60 seconds and I come back and the game made me forfeit, I was so mad.

The moment I experienced this in my first 2 duels in Master Duel, I've come to a conclusion that I need the extra space that this game has taken---along the time I wasted watching the enemies doing their combo, so I uninstalled it
My turn 1s have gotten down to under 30 seconds twice in my first week of playing. That first time when I finally realized that the turn timer doesn't reset on your opponent's turn was the biggest panic I've had in a while. I had Firewall Dragon Darkfluid with 4 counters, Excode Talker, and Cynet Conflict. 5 possible negates, but the timer made me hit cancel so fast! The second duel was against Thunder Dragons, and I really pushed it to the limit: down to 5 seconds, and didn't need to activate any of my negates. Won turn 3 by using my Code Radiator on Colossus (for the ATK to 0 effect, didn't even need the negation) and attacked with Darkfluid for 13,000 damage.
I don't mind as long as it finds a match in 3 seconds... LOVE THIS GAME ❤️

I'm a returnee after many years and without even really looking into the meta I decided to build a Monarch deck because I used it in solo mode and thought it was cool. I used a UA-cam video to build the deck but it didn't take me long at all to figure out the combos because I read over all the cards and while obviously not meta I've held my own in ranked
At the end of the video, it would have been funnier if the game made you surrender for taking “too long” while you were reaching for your controller
I felt bad when my Cyber Dragon combo took 1-2 Minutes to finish... but then i met a Drytron player and now i know that i am lightning fast in comparison lmao

Cydra doesn't have quite combo except when they do, some other solitare non-linear combo is just annoying enough to wait, penalty for surrendering and plus unplayable Yugioh after they make board is just annoying enough
I am at this point in master duel when I am uninstalling for good. I am fed up of people taking 30 minutes to summon their entire deck have nothing but god mosters that negate everything so you can't do anything. Its like what's the fucking point in playing. Not even meta decks are working for me.

Jokes aside, this video is a perfect example of why I can't fully enjoy yugioh anymore. It's not about playing each other anymore. It's about: Did you go first? No? Did you draw any handtraps? No? You lose.
True, your opening hand literally decides whether you can play the game or not. It's ridiculous, YuGiOh might as well be a single player game if the second player are guaranteed to lose 90% of the time due to factors outside of their control

Slow player, intentionally player that just slow down when they are about to lose and people who runs solitare deck
The WORST version of this is when my opponent can just win if they went to battle phase and attacked.
But NOOOOOO. You just have to spend an extra 15 minute combo to bring out your boss monster for no reason other than BM.
Just going to battle phase like that is a good way to throw the game. There are players who will tell you you've won and to just go to combat, but will have a hand trap or something hidden the grave or banish zone ready to make a comeback. An end board will generally have a way to bounce back if the opponent is up to something. There's just not really a good reason to stop a combo early unless you want to preserve some extenders in case of retaliation

Not to mention the game LITERALLY prompts your opponent if they have a response. You can tell of they have a handtrap.

I miss the good ol back and forth duels like in the anime where you get the upper hand, then they bring it back and now you need to bring it back and then it's an epic finish. Even if I lose, I love those matches.This is the biggest problem with master duel. Loving the game but I had 25 mins left before I had to leave to do something important in the community. This one duel took almost 25 mins. The guy went on forever and took forever to make his moves. He had T.G librarian on the field so every synchro summon he drew a card. He did like 6 synchro summons in one turn, plus the link summons and special summons etc. I got bored and had to leave the match. They need to reduce the time we have per turn.
