    This video combined with the other about setting the club absolutely changed my game, I've been working really hard on the hip turn/transition the last year or so, and these two videos were the last piece I needed. Ty Aimee!

    I just tried this weight shift technique today Aimee and it works fantastic. Iron shots are nice and crisp and longer, straighter than before. Also I think this may have cured my early hip extension!!

    OK, I just want to say that I'm stupid. I watched this about 2 weeks ago and started doing it and it worked great. Then I started watching other UA-cam "coaches" and seeing what they had to say about the transition and downswing. Tried to incorporate what they were saying. Now that my swing is screwed up again, I'm watching this video again to go back to what I should have been doing for the past 2 weeks instead of trying to fix "what ain't broke." Aimee, you are still the best coach, at least for me.

      I think many of us have done the same thing as you. I've stopped watching other videos to "tweak" my golf swing even more. It's not necessary. Aimee is giving us the straight dope! Though it takes a bit of practice (and acceptance), the golf swing is done in a specific order as she points out.

    I would have liked to see a reference to how this can be made the wrong way, leading to 'getting stuck' and coming too much from the inside. I think too much separation together with a 'hands move down' movement can lead to very inside-out paths?

    At about 6 minutes you say you’ve got to stick with this and learn how to use this move. Very important. I’m taking lessons now for the first time in my 10 years of golf and it took me awhile to learn that new moves will make you worse, but after a week or two of hard practice it becomes a natural part of my swing. It’s a good feeling when it clicks and feels normal

    This is really good teaching.. I have different feeling but its basically the same thing.. It all start with the grip but beyond that i feel like i do a little weight shift dance with my hips, This is all done on the backswing and as you plant forward to finish the dance it's like you just wait for gravity to pull your shoulders and arms.. It happens in a split second and once you feel that gravity feeling like your upper arms shoulders are falling a millisecond later you get the momentum and just free wheel so fast that hands and arms catch up with the end of your dance. it feels like you can hit the ball as hard as you want and it's the way to square the clubface. The subtle rotation of body shoulders and arms square everything.. It takes a lot of practice but even when you get it slightly wrong at the top the shots are still struck better and much more powerful.. You hear people talk about Using the ground for power or pushing down into the ground.. It's all the same but people feel it and they have many different ways to explain it. When you feel it you will understand how it's been explained but will probably have some other feelings you prefer to explain it but it's all the same thing once you can do it.. Just experiment shifting weight through Feet, legs and hips in a rythm and then try to match your swing up..

  • @adimperial
    @adimperial Рік тому +2

    Great stuff. From playing tennis I realized swinging with something weighted helps your body feel the correct movements in particular the kinetic chain where power comes from the ground up.
    Swinging the Momentus club or something weighted your body will automatically get the sequence right.

    • @nicholasdemetriades9154

      Yes. I need very heavy swing weighted clubs. Difference is massive in terms of distance. Hit 8 iron 160 carry versus about 130-135 with normal weighted clubs.

    Been practicing this last 3 days on lawn no ball and it's amazing when i do it correctly with way more swing speed, I had more of an arm swing like you demonstrated as it wasn't in this sequence. If my old swing speed was 105 mph with with driver what do you think it will be now with correct transition?

    well, the left side of the right forearm initiates the downswing, when the muscle is fully activated. the left side of the chest reacts against the arm and turns to the left. you can check this out by swinging with just your right arm- no club. also, the feet react against the arms, when they have swung back as far as they can, by pressing down on the ground. and, this pulls the hands down and around. and, the wrist joint keeps pushing back in the transition, also. this increases swing coil in the start of the downswing.

    No disrespect meant but I've seen soooo many instructional videos what put emphasis on bringing the arms and hand in front of the body without all the lower body movement first in order to sequence properly. The body will naturally react and move out of the way. I've read and heard that 85-90% of the power comes from the arms, hands and wrists during the downswing and that the lower body only stabilizes the swing and adds 10-15% at best.

    Good luck to any amateur playing/practicing twice a week to get this move down consistently. Ain't gonna happen. Majority of speed comes from upper torso and arms /wrists. Focus on speeding those up.

    Oh. Ok. Nice. Great explanation. Sometimes I get this right accidentally and the ball flies much farther with a baby draw and it feels like I had all the time in the world with less effort.... but being strong can be a hindrance most times in golf. Practice so much I can have a poor sequence and still hit straight but not too far and shoot respectable scores. But the times I could get the sequence correct distance increased 20 yds with all the irons. Thanks for giving me such A clear picture of right vs. wrong!
