    After countless of times where I thought I "figured" out my swing, I would record my swing and it just didn't look or feel right. I normally don't believe youtube is a real place to "fix" your swing as it's always mostly very general tips you've seen a million times and every person is different in where their deficiencies are. Anyway I watched this video yesterday and went to range shortly after to test this drill and the feel. I will say this might be the one tip I've been missing for my swing and I know it's not perfect but it's finally a step in the right direction. I could never get my trail elbow "tucked" and would always chicken wing on impact, this drill helped to feel lowering the trail shoulder which also results in keeping my trail elbow tucked in to create natural lag and I could also feel more space on the impact to follow through! Thank you Aimee!❤

    Great video. Thank You for some helpful insight. This is the answer to a lot of people's problems, they don't use their body. I like the tip you keep mentioning in this video to push and push at certain points in the downswing. This is going to really help me as I'm learning to trust my body more and more to twist and catch and even compress that ball as I swing through. I'm 62 and playing every week for a couple years now. Breaking 90 next week I hope. Thanks again and good job on the video!

    Im a testimony to the arm swing with tension, hitting the ground first, for many years, which resulted in my body performing its own spine and ligament fusion, as a reaction, called DISH. Lumbar degeneration as well. At 64 I play with pain, alleviated somewhat (and temporarily) by 3 advil and 2 extra strength Tylenol before I tee off. I have to do an ice bath after I play. I used to do a few (😉) beers or whiskey while playing, but you can guess where that ended up. It helped the pain and my swing the first 8 or 9 holes, but HAH, led to some moments Im not exactly proud of 🤣. Thanks for some great tips Aimee!

    For most people, strength and flexibility loss begins in the late 60's and becomes much more rapid as the years go by. I could hit golf balls well over 200 yards, around 240 in my early 70's, but now at almost 82 years old I'm lucky to hit one 200. So I only play little par 3 courses.

  • @user-cv1xe9yf3f

    Aimee, I have played for the past few years by my downswing being one thing... pull the butt to and on through the bottom of the ball. It works great when I get in the right groove. Lately I have been trying your way "butt to the ground, butt to the target" and from a more vertical backswing with the butt pointing inside the target line. I use a strong front hand grip with cupped wrist at the top to get lag. My right (trail) hand, arm and side only pull and the hands do not roll or flash at the ball. It seems to be working and I'd like to say thanks!

    That armsy swing is exactly what my pro told me I am doing. For some reason, I can make the turn, push-push swing as a practice swing, but once I get over the ball I tense up and revert to my armsy swing. My swing is sometimes so armsy that the club shaft hits the back of my neck! One question: do you keep the knee of your trail leg flexed? It looks like you do and I would think that it would help stabilize the swing and keep you from swaying. I love when you Aimee-fy your lessons.

    • @GolfWithAimee
      @GolfWithAimee  9 місяців тому +2

    great work there Aimee! just wondering if this drill will be applicable with using irons too? will there be any differ?

    • @GolfWithAimee
      @GolfWithAimee  9 місяців тому +2

      Thank you! 🙌And yes, absolutely. This drill will help the iron swing as well. Except when you make the first push in the downswing, you’ll need to move a significant amount of weight transferred into your lead foot. One of the biggest difference between a driver swing and the iron swing would be the hang back vs weight shifting to the lead foot all at once. I hope this helps! Thanks for the question.🙌

    i'll try that hand on trail shoulder for the backturn. I'd been using the swingyde to help with that, if it fell off on my backswing after the hinge i know i lifted. I've been working on the armsy-2-body swing transition for 6 years now & it's only coming around this year. My hcp index has gone down & scoring is consistently 90's with occasional high 80's. Question: how does standing on the foam balance blocks work to strengthen your legs/glutes and help stability? Thanks aimee!

    • @GolfWithAimee
      @GolfWithAimee  9 місяців тому +1

      Hi Mel, I’m glad to hear that things are coming along! I know it can be a difficult transition. But as long as you are headed the right direction, you’ll be awarded with putting in the effort for sure! You have a few more decades to enjoy golf, so 6 years is totally worth it:) A great question with the foam boards. If you experience it just once, you will know exactly what I mean. When you stand on the foam boards and make swings, your feet will feel slight instability compared to when you are standing on regular ground. So when you are standing on the foam boards, your muscles will be working to constantly to stay in balance. Slight shaking in the legs could be felt or they may not be big enough to notice. So your small muscles in the legs, glutes, and core are constantly working. As soon as you land on regular ground, your balance feels rock solid. And the big difference is shown in the golf swing. You will feel like you have Hulk’s legs during the swing lol! It’s a neat experience.
      I have smaller versions of the balance foam boards on aimeelist.com if you need a pair! As long as you have smaller than men’s shoe size 12, the portable ones work just as nicely. If anything, it’s a little easier to carry with you :)
      I hope this helps Mel! Thank you!

    I understand Aimee and you’re right, but the problem is that once you’re older (like me), taking lessons that focus on turning on the backswing, which I’ve had plenty of with the young pro at my club, ends up giving me back injuries because my thoracic spine doesn’t function like that of a 25 year old … my chiropractor has in fact stated “find a golf instructor that understands that you’re not 25 anymore”. You easily turn your shoulders 90 degrees but I struggle to get to 70 degrees, so the real answer for seniors is a swing that blends some body and arms, because if I don’t, from direct personal recent experience, I end up missing weeks of golf with a sore back.

      Marcus Edblad! Hes on you tube!!! Helped me save my golfing life! It takes effort in practice and time but once you understand his concepts you won't have any issues with pain. Basically resurrected my golf swing to the point that I'm thinking about getting certified to teach golf. Imagine going from a driver swing that at best would be 200-210 with minimal roll to 250+ with much more roll. Before (2 months ago) I could not reach ANY par 4 over 390 yards in 2! Now I can reach any par 4 on the courses I play. Back shooting in the 70's with one great round of -3. He basically rewires your brain about how to think about the golf swing.
