I plan on reading the screenplays for at least a few of these films, to get an idea of how a good screenplay is written. But you should rank what you think are the best written movies in a future video
Agreed. It's one of, if not the only trilogy where all three films are masterpieces and very close in terms of quality with each being lauded as one of the greatest movies ever made such that you could pick one of the three as your favorite and find many who agree. Most trilogies have like a film that is lacking compared to the other two (Star Wars Originals; Return of the Jedi is easily the worst but still very good) or has one film that is the main reason why the trilogy is so highly regarded, even though without it, the other two may still be great, but not best of all time worthy (The Dark Knight trilogy; I mean it's in the name). I'd say the only competition is the Before trilogy, but LOTR still has arguably higher ratings than it.
@@falconz006 Both of those trilogies (especially the godfather trilogy are known for having disappointing third movies while the third LOTR won best picture).
I haven’t seen every movie in this list, but from the ones I’ve seen (Favorite to least favorite): Schindler’s List The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Inception The Dark Knight The Empire Strikes Back The Godfather Part II The Godfather Pulp Fiction Fight Club Forrest Gump The Shawshank Redemption
Can we all agree '94 was the best year ever in cinema? Not only did it have Pulp Fiction, Shawshank Redemption, and Forest Gump, but also the Lion King.
Without Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars would be nothing more than a 70s nostalgia fad. Empire took a great first movie & instantly made the franchise generational. Other Star Wars films may have better action but none of them come close to the overall package & story of Empire. My Star Wars rankings have shifted over time but Empire as my #1 has never changed & my solid 2nd favorite A New Hope isn't even close to overtaking Empire as #1. Everything after 2 has shifted around from time to time.
@@ksrithan the attack on the Death Star from Return of the Jedi is better action than anything in Empire. Still Empire is the way better overall movie.
This is IMDBs top 15 films of all time. They should find themselves fortunate to be in there at all, nevermind all three. The fact Sean didn't place them 15, 14 & 13th goes to show he actually rates the extremely highly
1. The Empire Strikes Back 2. The Good, The Bad And The Ugly 3. Dark Knight 4. 12 Angry Men 5. Inception 6. Forrest Gump 7. Schindlers List 8. Shawshank Redemption 9. Fight Club 10. Godfather 11. Pulp Fiction 12. Godfather Part II 13. Fellowship Of The Ring

Chasers You do you man, some people don’t understand the difference between someone’s favourites and what is objectively the best (according to their apparently superior opinions). Besides, to have such a legacy, Empire has to be pretty good, right?
I was 14 when I watched The Godfather for the first time and fell in love instantly, actually this started a journey for me to watch more films, basically it became a hobby lmao.

Forrest Gump Yeah, Titanic deserves to be on the list it's really great but I don't think Infiniti war comes even close to what The Dark Knight has achieved,I don't think any superhero movie can be better than it.
The Godfather to me is the greatest movie of all time.. Coppola casted the perfect cast. The scoring was great. The story is obviously incredible.. just a perfect movie in my opinion!
I feel like I live in an alternate reality when I hear people talk about that movie. I watched a couple of years ago and found nothing at all remarkable about it.
I haven't seen Schindler's List yet. Planning on it in the next few weeks but here it is (most of these are in my top 100 of all time so I love pretty much all of these): 14) The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers 13) The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King 12) The Godfather Part II 11) Fight Club 10) The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring 9) Inception 8) The Dark Knight 7) Pulp Fiction 6) The Godfather 5) Forrest Gump 4) The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly 3) 12 Angry Men 2) The Empire Strikes Back 1) The Shawshank Redemption
@@abdulazizaljefri7561 Agreed. It's actually my favorite of the IMDB top 15 due to how powerful it is but also being such a well-crafted film. Easily among the greats and a film everyone should see at least once.
yellari amarawathi I don’t understand how anyone can find Schindler’s List to be boring. It’s a Holocaust drama, not a Hollywood action blockbuster. It features some of the greatest acting I’ve seen in a movie and the film has a very moving story, how can you not be swayed by it? Many people including myself consider it to be one of the greatest movies of all time. I’m sorry, but Schindler’s List is a masterpiece.

@@Film-Watcher12I agree that it’s overrated but I think it’s still a top 15. It doesn’t have the emotional connection of interstellar or Forrest Gump. It doesn’t have the epicness of LOTR. I think it’s a great film but #3 is too high, coming from a Nolan fan.

What makes Fellowship of the Ring so great to me was that it kind of stands on its own. All of the characters get full arcs that are kind of all they really need (Aragorn showing greater strength than his ancestor being the standout, but Legolas and Gimli both learning to trust other races and let the hobbits go on their own and Frodo’s commitment to making sacrifices for his world were also great). If I have any problems with the trilogy, it is that the character arcs are so frontloaded, but that just makes fellowship better.

Forrest Gump is very well made but it's the type of movie that epitomizes overrated. Lt Dan and Bubba are the best parts of it. That's my bias though, i just don't think Tom Hanks is good in serious roles. Much better in stuff like Big and The Burbs.

For anyone who really wants to dig deeper into film while the IMDb top 250 is ok it’s really American and post 1970 heavy. Check out roger eberts great movies, letterboxd top 250, and the sight and sound top 250.
Sound and sight 250 is also biased in my opinion, but towards pre 1970. There are some great films missing from that list because they are extremely biased to old "classics" which are just put there to make them sound clever. Some people need to learn that great filmmaking didn't stop after 1972.

The two towers (Used to be my favourite, but as much as boring it feels, I just had to agree with all of your points of criticizing it after rewatching (8/10) 5. Fellowship of the ring (Just a Great fantasy Classic with incredible world-building, but wayyyy too slow beginning for me 8/10) 4. Forrest gump (Has always been a Heartfelt and touching movie for me and I think it will Grow on me more as I get adult (8/10) 3. Return of the king (Amazing masterpiece, thought it was too slow earlier, but ironically I think that because of the extented edition, it’s actually the best from the trilogy😅 9/10) 2. Inception (Hands down this is the nolan’s ultimate cinematic masterpiece after only interstellar imo and it blowed me away right at the first watching 9/10) 1. Empire strikes back (C’mon, It’s star Wars. Needless to Say why this is my facourite movie of all time. Og trilogy was also my childhood even though I haven’t born in 70’s 😇 10/10)
I love all of these movies so keep that in mind. Only movie that wouldn’t get an A+ in my mind would be Forrest Gump so here’s my ranking: 1. Pulp Fiction 2. The Godfather 3. The Dark Knight 4. The good, the bad and the ugly 15/10
Nope. TV shows are much more difficult to rank because they aren't 2 hours....they're 50+ hours....100+ hours.... That makes them extremely impossible to re-watch to do a ranking.

I plan on reading the screenplays for at least a few of these films, to get an idea of how a good screenplay is written.
But you should rank what you think are the best written movies in a future video
@@connorgorms9020 It's tough to do that since I haven't read the scripts. You don't know what is the script, the production and the editing.
Can you do this for tv shows

Godfather (1&2)>>
The fact that all three Lord of the Rings films are in the top 15 just proves it’s the best trilogy.
No, godfather and dark knight is the best Trilogy

Without Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars would be nothing more than a 70s nostalgia fad. Empire took a great first movie & instantly made the franchise generational. Other Star Wars films may have better action but none of them come close to the overall package & story of Empire. My Star Wars rankings have shifted over time but Empire as my #1 has never changed & my solid 2nd favorite A New Hope isn't even close to overtaking Empire as #1. Everything after 2 has shifted around from time to time.
I agree with everything you said. It’s almost like I wrote it myself.

Kinda surprised ‘Jaws’ isn’t in the IMDb top 15
I don’t know if you just got a haircut or something but your hair is looking really good
For anyone who really wants to dig deeper into film while the IMDb top 250 is ok it’s really American and post 1970 heavy. Check out roger eberts great movies, letterboxd top 250, and the sight and sound top 250.
I don't about Letterboxd but TSPDT is also great too. Unlike S&S, they do it every year. It's my go to list.
Sound and sight 250 is also biased in my opinion, but towards pre 1970. There are some great films missing from that list because they are extremely biased to old "classics" which are just put there to make them sound clever. Some people need to learn that great filmmaking didn't stop after 1972.
