the buy it or die message is actually hacked in by the person who first dumped the rom. and since many people downloaded that first dumped rom they receive the message thinking it is real. but it is later known this is hacked in, and the proper dump of the game does not have this. so if you see the message, it means you downloaded the hacked rom.

@@RuffledRowlit If you stand in a patch of grass and go to your pokemon menu and select cut it would actually cut the adjacent patches of grass

the "buy it or die" thing is a hacked rom
I played fire red on an emulator and was REALLY disappointed the guy didn’t say it lol.
Another layer to the Pattern Bush is that the only type of Pokemon you can encounter in the grass, are bug types, a reference to how 'buggy' the gen 1 games were.
It's also a reference to how Satoshi collected bug's as a kid.
Why does Pokémon Ocean Blue not exist? Blastoise also deserves some love!
They decided that they would go with leaf green over ocean blue because fire and water are conflicting and there is enough conflict in the world as it is so they wanted to try and show that it was all peacefull or something like that.
I think they wanted to give venusaur a shot cause they already did blue and kept charizard because he's the 2nd most liked pokemon

When you first came to Cerulean City and defeat the nugget bridge for the first time, the rocket grunt on the end of the bridge will offer you to join them saying, "Im gonna make you an offer you cant refuse", which categorizes from the film The Godfather.

The Lorelei one is so cool! It's something I wish GameFreak did more of. Small things like that can really make an impact of the replayability and fun of these games!
I just found out that in Pokémon sword and shield, that the Nintendo switch in your room will change joycon colors depending on what joycon colors you’re using with your switch at the time.
Dunno if that makes sense or not

5:35 finally I learn to know what the patterns are about... we used hours back then to theorize and draw maps analyzing them but couldn't figure out any meaning. Thanks so much for sharing this.
Another secret, did you know the last 2 rocket grunts you fight in the Warehouse are Ariana and Archer in Heartgold and SoulSilver from the Radio Tower in Goldenrod City

The funny thing with pattern bush is theres only bug types to represent how many bugs the original games had in them
I really wish they added the sevi Islands in lets go....frlg is the best kanto games in my opinion and the islands really help with that opinion

fun fact if you go to that truck area, idk if you get it by interacting with the truck itself but somewhere on that platform you can actually pick up a Lava Cookie, and it's the only time in this game you can actually get one
You can buy them on two island after becoming champion

Lava cookie? Did not know that. Maybe this truck is a reference to the truck at the beginning of Gen 3 that drops of Brendan/May to their home since lava cookies come from Hoenn.
Fun fact: in the Pattern Bush, all pokemon found in the wild grass are intentionally bug type

they should've put sevii islands in HG/SS as well.
Another funny easter egg about the pattern bush, you can encounter only bug pokemon in the area referencing all the glitches in red and blue.
Also, I'm pretty sure that the sailor fact is incorrect because I've played fire red and leaf green multiple times on my emulator and I've never come across that message.

Only way I know to getting balls is to let a girl on 6island see Heracross or trade with Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald.

Actually at the bottom corner of the truck island you can find a lava cookie as a hidden item and it's the only way to get one without trading with ruby sapphire or emerald and without hacking
Wrong. Eventually the merchant on one of the Sevii Islands starts supplying them in his shop as you progress through the game.
funny how with the train tracks one the beginning of the pokemon bump of chicken animation is four boys walking on railroad tracks
About the "buy it or die" line:
"After looking at the "GoodGBA" dumps, this message is only present in "Pokemon - Fire Red Version (U) (V1.0) [f1].gba" at 0x71A23D, as Xdaniel said near 5 years ago. -Einstein95 (talk) 03:48, 6 February 2017 (EST)"
Notice the [f1] in the filename, which indicates "fixed" which stands for the rom being patched to use SRAM instead of FLASH for the savegame (back them emulators/flashcarts used only SRAM for savegames, so many games were patched. The people who released the rom added the message.
But peoole will still think this was added by nintendo...
The "buy it or die" text can also sometimes appear on reproduction carts. I've had it happen on 2
That's because they dumped the hacked hom onto the cartridge.

i once got a "Bad egg" encounter in my GB. it was lvl 77 egg. I caught it and it turned into a treecko when I checked it on the pc.. But the weird part is, the treecko never evolved.. it was kinda frightening.

That is not frightening it is in the game's code the bad egg is given you by the game if you catch a pokemon by cheating (sometimes without cheating too but game can make mistakes) and if it hatches and doesn't freeze you game(which is very lucky) you should not be surprised if that pokemon is wierd

when moving pokemon in the pc if you press select the hand cursor changes from white to yellow.
I don’t think that truck being there was part of an Easter egg I think they just kept it there because the original game had it
In the original games it was an Easter egg relating to an unused town.
Out of curiosity cause I never thought of it till now. If you go into Elite 4 with just 1 pokemon and beat her but then lose the second battle. Does that add into the 25 times of beating her or do you need to beat all the way to champion too.
