I'd go cbr650r. It looks way sexier, the suspension/chassis is refined, and it's designed to be a much more comfy daily rider. On the other hand it doesn't sound as nice, probably a bit slower despite the same hp (heavier, lower torque). The recent update definitely tips the balance, the seat is updated, and now it has a readable tft dash. Plus, that classic honda reliability.
Triumph obviously have a limited back catalogue of heritage to pull from so the whole Daytona name argument is mute. Was genuinely keen to see this but it seams like Triumph have tried to cram too many attributes into 1 project rather than playing the platform game properly and this being the top of their middle weight pyramid. This should be the R7/RS660/790 killer, instead they’ve made a GSXF600 Teapot for the modern age. Other than that it looks as dull as dish water - like an XJ6 with a Lexmoto fairing…😩 Hope they step it up with an R version.
dont know why triumph is using this ugly dial in bikes.. its displays less info at least for the road... bike looks hot though... i wish it had a gloss black version
Disappointed that is is a glorified commuter now, sadly no comparison at all with the previous generation that was a stunning performance bike in every way.
Which one is the real Daytona? The early 500 2-cylinder? The 600/650 or 1200cc 4-cylinder Daytonas? What about the big comfy 955i Daytona that was like a sport tourer? Or is the 675/765 track weapon the real Daytona? My point is that the Daytona has changed drastically throughout the years, so there's no such thing as "the real" Daytona. They all are, and so is this bike.
I agree, compared to previous gen Hinckley Daytonas which are the benchmark this model is compared against (of which I have owned a few!) It’s a sports tourer by design. The budget suspension is non adjustable for a start. This is more of a Sprint Sport / Sprint RS in my opinion, which is fine by the way.
This is an afterthought of a "sportsbike" not a Daytona! Cannot touch my 2011 675! I know it's made for something else but please Triumph look at that cheap and ugly top triple, it's a joke. Shame on you Triumph 😢
@@NicePantsLance One of my friends had one. He was in his 40s and loved it, but found it crippling to ride.
The triple clamp is so ugly 🥺😭😭 it looks 40 years old and not in a good way :(
At least the bars aren't sticking up like most of the boredomweight sportsbikes.
Sprint 660 😅
Triumph obviously have a limited back catalogue of heritage to pull from so the whole Daytona name argument is mute.
Was genuinely keen to see this but it seams like Triumph have tried to cram too many attributes into 1 project rather than playing the platform game properly and this being the top of their middle weight pyramid. This should be the R7/RS660/790 killer, instead they’ve made a GSXF600 Teapot for the modern age.
Other than that it looks as dull as dish water - like an XJ6 with a Lexmoto fairing…😩
Hope they step it up with an R version.
dont know why triumph is using this ugly dial in bikes.. its displays less info at least for the road... bike looks hot though... i wish it had a gloss black version
You rode a "765" 10 years ago? Maybe a 675.
Yep, it’s was a 675.
Yep, I meant to say 675 - well spotted!
Disappointed that is is a glorified commuter now, sadly no comparison at all with the previous generation that was a stunning performance bike in every way.
Kinda disagree - it's a sports bike modified for some comfort, so you could commute... but then absolutely send it on the long way home!
The engine is gorgeous, but in the speedo I can see nothing...
The dash pisses me off. It looks like something from a cheap Chinese electric scooter..
Nice bike though
That's is not a Daytona......
Yes it has changed throughout years, but the last gen Daytonas did make a name for itself that meant something that Triumph should have stayed true to
I agree, compared to previous gen Hinckley Daytonas which are the benchmark this model is compared against (of which I have owned a few!) It’s a sports tourer by design. The budget suspension is non adjustable for a start. This is more of a Sprint Sport / Sprint RS in my opinion, which is fine by the way.
IT IS JUST A NAME. JESUS.
you probably wet your pants when they named the R7 the R7 too.
Specs wise it's really close to the old Daytona 750 at least for the engine
This is an afterthought of a "sportsbike" not a Daytona!
Cannot touch my 2011 675!
I know it's made for something else but please Triumph look at that cheap and ugly top triple, it's a joke.
Shame on you Triumph 😢
🫶
Thats just an ugly dash to look at😢
Why triumph killed daytona 😢
Nobody was buying them unfortunately. Sales numbers are everything. People love the Daytona, but how many actually have one in their garage?
@@NicePantsLance One of my friends had one. He was in his 40s and loved it, but found it crippling to ride. The sad fact is many riders are now in the twilight of their riding years and those bikes don’t appeal in the real world. Every ride out I meet several guys downsized - as I have - and picked something smaller, lighter, less powerful and a lot more comfortable.
Hahaa.... sticking your knee out but wearing biker jeans... classic
I know right? If I could stop them I would, such a habit from racing that its hard to get out of it!
@@Laramoto I only noticed it because I do the same....😂😂😂
Lame bike
Kind Sir your voice is a little feminine.
Sounds like you're being paid to shill for Triumph and too afraid to say that it's a disappointment to the Daytona name.
It took all of 2 hours for the first "you're being paid" ignorant comment, why would Triumph pay people for that.
