- Here I show you how to test and check if your DV is still functioning properly or not. I had an engine code that read:
17705 - Pressure Drop between Turbo and Throttle Valve (check D.V.!) P1297.

So the first thing I did was change out my DV. I bought a new one from the Audi dealership, part number 06A 145 710N (the latest revision, and an upgrade over the stock one).
From a 2004 Audi A4 1.8T, but many VW and Audi turbo models from this era use this same valve. - Авто та транспорт

thanks for this! i got a p1297, check the dv, it was good. turns out it was a bad vacuum line going to the dv. the hard vacuum line had cracked coming from the n249
excellent presentation! -- i think you my have solved my problem .. im getting a P0299 faulty diverter valve reading.. i have a 2003 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro 5 speed manual 4 door sedan.. is this the same replacement part i need ?

I can hear my diverter valve going off when im pulling away more noticeable in second gear 1800 revs accelerating not to harsh, i get the 17705 pressure drop fault but the dv seems to check ok. Vacuum is good, boost pipes are good. Only when the car is cold it flags a fault if i warm it up before driving its ok?

I got a a4 b5 1.8t. It sounds N/A ..Changed n75, and maf. Still no boost. What could it be?

When i test my dv with vacuum pump, it holds vacuum steady, but the valve is not open.
When i test it manually, dv stays open until i let my finger off. Is that correct? Is my diverter valve fine or bad?
I'm not 100% sure, but it sounds like your DV is fine.

Yes it is suppose to hold steady. You may have a small air leak.

Would a bad diverter valve cause turbo flutter (when you let off the gas) and slight overboost and (waiting code) P0171 (running lean)? My DV doesn't seem to work as it should.
Might be but I couldn't tell you for sure.

Would intermittent power loss be an issue with the dv? My mk4 hesitates on past half throttle acceleration
+Tyree White I'm not entirely sure. I would check spark plugs and ignition coils first though. My failing DV wasn't giving any hesitation issues, just a rough idle.
Push the piston in put your finger over the top pipe if the piston says up its good if it doesn't its had it

for me in my 2003 Audi a4 i lost so much boost, to the point where I didn't want to drive on the freeway bc merging was a nightmare. replaced the diverter valve and everything is going smooth.
I have the error p1297 on my passat 1.8t 2003.the engine run with missfiers .after diagnose the car with vcds is look i have this error.i checked the dv and she.s broked.don.t hold the vaccum.may be that causse for the probem?i will change her
Ya definitely start with replacing the DV. If you still have issues check your PCV valve after.

My brandnew not genuine but new/cheap doesn’tpump up at all with the mitty vac and seems to hold no vacuum at all. My guess is its just cheap shit and isn’t actually sealing
I have a 3-bg 1.8t passat and I have a problem on the highway, I lose power, I leave the gas in five gears and I risk all the gas, but the machine is having a long turbo lag
Can that be that broken valve?

Mine never have any codes but it was bad
Did you have 5 psi only ? Tryna figure out my problem I know it’s been a long time
