  • Does your B7 Audi A4 lack power all of the sudden? Watch this video, it is a very common thing for these "Turbocharger Recirculation Valve N249" or also called "Diverter Valves" to brake and store the code "P0299".
    In this video I'll give you a clear explanation on how to replace the diverter valve and also how to diagnose the diverter / recirculation valve on you B7 Audi A4 2.0T. This customer complained about a lack of power, especially at highway speeds. The Audi would not pull as hard as it used to, he said. Since the engine seem to run fine otherwise, I assumed it must have something to do with the turbo. Since the check engine light was on, I first plugged in my scan tool to check for codes. There was a bunch of codes, but I was most interested in the the P0299 code, assuming that all the other codes must be related to that one. Just typing this "Audi A4 2.0T P0299" in the internet let me know that this is a very common issue and that there also was a service bulletin released by Audi stating that the Turbocharger Recirculation Valve N249 is a very common issue. The diaphragm tears in it. After replacing the Turbocharger Recirculation Valve N249 / diverter valve, the problem resolved and the Audi drove like an Audi again.

    Done deal...did the work at home in my garage ( it is raining a lot outside), it was actually easier than I thought, it took me 45 minutes to do it by myself, the worst was that top screw...pain to remove it, but once that is done, PEACE of CAKE...tested on highway speed, boosted pretty high and no fault anymore.
    THANKS A LOT AGAIN.

    Thanks for the video! Replaced my torn bypass valve with the new design following your video and everything went smoothly on my 2009 Audi A4 2.0T Cabriolet. Put my car on Jack stands, and while it was a tight squeeze, I got it done over a few hours.

    Excellent video, thanks a lot, really really appreciated it.
    Will try doing that at home, as I already purchased the recirculation valve.
    Cheers

    Excellent video, I love how you demonstrate things in "dry mode" on the loose valve alongside the actual repair. I have only P0299, no other codes, and don't notice an issue when driving, so I haven't tackled this yet, but the video may come handy in the near future... thanks.

    If you have all the symptoms of this p0299 AND you have a rattly noise coming from the turbo...don't buy a DV...you need a new turbo. My wastegate fell off of my newly replaced turbo and was rattling around. Should have bought the proper Borgwarner turbo...lesson learned.

    Undermine there are 2 hoses that are in a different place from yours and they block me from unscrewing it, wondering what they are as the run to the turbo and engine block and if they’re safe to remove

    My car has same code. For a long time. But now I lost alot of power especially in uphill and also I hear a Hissing noise coming under the car when I accelerate. Could be diverter valve causing this problem?

    • @AutoTechWorld_DIY
      @AutoTechWorld_DIY  Рік тому

      The hissing I'm not sure, but everything else really sounds like it. You know, of I where you, I would just pull it out and look at it, since it really is not so much work. And if the rubber is torn just replace it. Best of luck and God bless you.

    Is it possible that this part could cause intermittent misfires as well?

    • @AutoTechWorld_DIY
      @AutoTechWorld_DIY  Рік тому +1

      Possibly. If you have that code, I would just pull that valve out and look at the rubber grommet. It's fairly simple and quick to do.
