Can’t wait for the SLO Mini in this series. I have the Friedman so far and it’s a little beast. My BE50 went down at band practise and the mini got me thru the rest of a loud rehearsal perfectly.
@@bulletproofprs I guess it would be based on Mike’s old GTO pedal which go for silly prices used now, with the power section being the same solid state 30w used in the other amps in this range. I would love even more if these mini amps had a simple clean channel, rather than just being distortion boxes, but maybe I’m expecting too much for the money!

It does seem like someone took a Mooer micro preamp and a chipamp and put them together with some bigger knobs and got licensed branding for it. And then another one.
@@aharkness5657 I don't know about that, but I think this mini amp website is having Dave, Reinhold, and Peter come up with a simple single channel solid state preamp, and then just coupled it with the same 30w power amp that Dave Friedman discovered. I think the Diezel sounds the best of the three.
Nice job and great playing. You do a fantastic job of demoing gear as well as showing multiple ways it can be used. Between your videos and others from the Tone Talk guys I've learned I've been leaving a lot on the table with gear I already own. Always fun learning I can get some cool new tones without having to spend more money. Thank you!

As always Pete your playing is absolutely ripping, I watch your content as much for your chops & writing skills as I do to hear the products. Probably more to hear your playing now that I think about it. That said I don’t get these mini heads. You can’t gig with it, it’s not as versatile as having the pedal version & is more expensive. Maybe they’re not made for me but as someone who has a home studio & only does the occasional small gig I’m not sure who it is made for if not for me? Didn’t care for the tone either & I generally like Diezels. To be fair I didn’t like the mini Friedman & they make some of the best sounding amps available now. I dunno, just not vibing on these but to each their own. Great playing either way Pete!
Terrific tone Pete! The FX loop send signal output sounds excellent - do you know if the other amps in the mini lineup (Bogner, Friedman) offer this same feature? Great playing!
@@teriakamoto Herbet Pedal ran through FX Loop of my Randall Diavlo 20 Watt Tube Amp (6L6's). Pedal is running on 12V (which it comes with). It sounds amazing. I love having the mid scoop chanel on it. I have the matching Cab for the amp but replaced the stock speaker with an Eminence Redcoat RV-75. Soon I plan to swap that speaker for Mick Tomson DV-77 from Eminence. I hear a lot of good things about it.

I have a bunch of Amp heads and I also live in a Housing Tract where I can't get too loud so I'll go with my 2 Orange 15 watter's. Dark Terror, & OR15. The OR15 has L-M-H Eq so I'll go with that one. I have a EVH5150lll 6L6 50 watt and I do have a Rivera Rock Crusher. Maybe that's the one on Clean Channel yeah ? Also, have a ENGL FB60w. The EVH w/6L6's would be closest to what you are doing and you love the sound right ? Heavy as f*** right ? Happy Trails my friend.
@@teriakamoto for sure! And you can control the volume very well. My 20 watt can be very loud! But my most recent toy I just got was the line 6 HX stomp. It's awesome for a small rig. Swiss army knife that thing is.
I'm thinking of getting this amp or the Bogner ecstasy mini. I don't have a cab. But was wondering if I could use my Line6 spider3 75 watt, 1x12 as the cab? If so, how, and would the line6 need to be plugged in? (have power to it) Or would it act like a typical cab that doesn't require electricity? Finally witch amp would you recommend of the two I mentioned. I hope this message finds you in good spirits.
It would have been good to hear it with a conventional HSS strat. Perhaps something like a Fender Shawbucker or Suhr SSV humbucker. I admit it sounded decent with EMGs and wah pedal added, but I'm not sure how representative that is of the actual tone from the amp.
I mean basically you’re hearing it with the root beer Suhr. I think you can get an idea from this video what’s going on, if not I don’t know, ha. Big and grindy, not Marshall upper mid kerrang
That's makes it extra big and extra grindy, which I kind of guessed already. More grindy than the Thornbucker bridge pickup. Suhr SSH+ is about as much grind as I can cope with personally.
Amazing riffing Pete! Yeah I have two large fire breathing tube amps but would love this for my home office desktop jam sessions. What cab are you using with it? I figure get taste of Diezel for affordable price and save for a Herbert MK3!

Dude, I check your videos out now, as much for your mini demo jams as I do for itching my gear geekery itch. I'm curious, are you using pre-existing material for your intros, or just writing whatever the gear inspires you to write? Or perhaps a combination? Ps. This thing sounds absurd. I'd have a hard time believing that this sound was being produced by this little amp, without prior knowledge of it in a studio! I'd struggle not to laugh! Having said that, this thing is no joke! ✌
I write everything pretty much on the spot, when I plug in the equipment. Usually it comes pretty fast I just try and get inspired by the sound and then write something appropriate for what I hear. Sometimes I’ll start with a drum part/groove and then write a riff that grooves/locks with it, which is what I did with this piece.

The Friedman is much better for a few more bucks. I’m a huge VH4 fan.. but this one falls a little flat by comparison to the Friedman and the Bogner Ecstasy Mini in my useless opinion.
It’s worth finding a store that has all of these hooked up beside each other. The Friedman had so many tone variations between all the UA-camr demos that it was hard for me to get a solid idea of it.
@@Baileyriffs totally agree with you, as we all have differing taste anyway. This Diezel sounds an awful lot like the Hughes and Kettner Spirit series boxes. I’m not a fan of the fizz sounds they have. I agree that there is a tonal variety of the Friedman in various reviews, but one thing I hear in all of them is that they sound refined and thick like a full sized amp, vs the Diezel which sounds thinner, smaller, and fizzier in all of the reviews over the past 2 weeks. It takes far more post processing it seems. I think I’m going with the Friedman pedal, which is the same as the mini amp just without a power amp. Hope you like whatever you decide on! Cheers 🍻
These things + a JBL speaker or something like that, are just perfect for bringing to a cabin in the woods etc. Fun and with an inspiring feel and sound. If it is a cabin without power though, a IR pedal and a preamp pedal run on a power supply is the king :)
For the rhythm I actually like it into the V 30 IR! Different strokes. I think generally speaking an amp like this can use V 30s. But that’s not what I have mic’d in the other room usually. Maybe one of these days I will rig up two more microphones on a V30 cab.
My only complaint is such limited bandwidth of sound. Realize for metal people they like that but a guitar has so much more tone than just midrange and too much of it(imho).
Pete's the definition of the guitar becoming an extension of the player's body. The gear is always cool, but your playing is what steals the show!

I suspect Freidman/Bogner/Diezel and the rumored Soldano mini are using the same 30w power amp in these and just the preamp differ.

It has the Diezel Grease. Terrific sounds and playing.
Even when Pete plays metal he uses all them cool chords on his rhythms. I don't think there is any genre that he can't excell in.
A VHT/Fryette Pitbull mini with a clean channel switching function would be a killer addition to these neat little amp series.
