Thanks for all your advice, the thing I would like Amazon to do, is leave the apps alone that are on the external storage, they stop updates & more annoying they are are deleting apps.

I don’t think this is an Amazon thing, I remember my Android phone did the same if I moved or installed an app to the SD card. Not seen Amazon deleting apps myself, they do offload apps but you can turn that off.

My Windows 10 still updates, but I have the updating off. Am I missing something?

yes but Amazon have calmed them down even if you don't turn them off.
