he makes it look so easy-
@Ezekiel Mohamed LMAO bye
It‘s so impressing how all your paintings look so good with the loose brush work🤩
You make it look so simple yet this is such a gorgeous painting. I love studying your paintings. It helps me a lot with colors
This was a great demo, Michael. I really enjoyed it. It’s always interesting to see how people handle different subjects. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Christine 😊
clouds are great for beginners! a wonderful way to practice painting the world through shapes and get rid of assumptions of what we think objects "should" look like and more seeing them as chunks interacting with light, as they are!
you're right about keeping the value range quite narrow, i underestimated the beauty of subtle shifts
So true! Well said! 😊
Great video! I really like how you explain the different layers of the painting using mineral spirits and/ or medium. I was confused about the blocking in , but this really helped 😀
PLEASE sell these paintings online!!!! I've seen some past videos where you showed us boxes filled with beautiful paintings that are just sitting in your studio. I'm a college student so I don't have much money, but if I did I would buy tons of your work online
I sell most of my work on Instagram but I hope to update my website soon. 😊
chamberlainpaintings do we have to DM you to inquire about pricing?
Yes, people dm me when they’re interested in purchase info 👍
I have watched several cloud demos but I like. What you presented. Understood what you were saying.
That was great Michael i live 60miles from the coast so very relevant to my local environment thanks again
I’ll be doing more hills soon!
This was so relaxing. You make it look way too easy!
So good!! Best cloud tutorial I’ve seen. Inspirational as always. 🎨
Thanks Mindy!
Hi Michael, thanks for all your demos! I'm a painter and a Patreon supporter. I encourage my fellow followers to consider pledging too. If more people who appreciate what you're doing and are subscribing would join me, then many little pledges would amount to a whole lot! I also want to say that I really enjoyed the real time aspect of this demo. I love that you can talk about your process while doing it - great teaching and painting!
Thanks for you support Laura! I had the fastest internet possible installed today so I can upload longer, real-time painting videos. 😊👍
Your videos are awesome, you are not boring and you are very informative. I think I’m going to binge watch!
Love your videos, great inspiration for me to go out and paint more
I'm so glad! 😊
So good. I appreciate you.
Beautiful work Mike, I found with a subject like this a dramatic sky with cad orange or yellow ochre just a touch will make this scene dance 🎨🙂👍
Thanks Tez!
@@chamberlainpaintings 🎨🙂👍
Your videos are so inspirational
😊
What color were you using for the clouds? You didnt say. Was it pure white?
White with ultramarine blue mostly. Some alizarin crimson as well. 😊
This is glorious, such a simple idea with such complex results.
Thanks!
This is amazing!!!
We love your videos - watching from New Zealand. You are so generous with your advice and I just
Love your loose style. Thank you!
This was great thank you!
Thanks Andy!
Beautiful!
This is beautiful. I love the real time again. What brand of linseed oil do you use? I’ve not tried this medium.
Thanks Kim! The medium is: one part Gamsol, one part Gamblin stand oil, two parts Gamblin linseed oil. Any brands will work as long as they're artist grade. 😊
great upload, beautiful oil painting :) have a nice day
Thanks! 😊
👍👍👍
what do u use to thin your paint? this painting is lovely
Sometimes I use oms, sometimes I use medium. I give the recipe for my medium in the video 😊
I like your videos Michael, but I sometimes I wish you could explain why you change the some of the composition elements in your paintings. Here as I see there almost no visible separation between the sky and the clouds, this is not how it looks on your reference photo (and I like more how it looks on the photo). I also would love to hear why you even pick up the particular scene to paint... here at least for me there is almost no focal point and I'm not should what inspired you to paint it. Anyway, thank you for the video.
As I mentioned in the video, the photo artificially exaggerates color and contrast and I was going for a more subtle look. The choices I make compositionally make sense to me, other artists will make different choices. 😊
beautiful! is this one for sale?
Thanks! Email me at chamberlainpaintings@gmail.com for purchase info. 😊👍
Was the photo taken in Marin?
San Jose
May I ask what size of canvas you are using:)thanks
10x10 inch panel. 😊
To me this looks larger than 10 inch , thanks your paintings are one of the kind every time .
@@simaabedini3617 Thanks Sima!
Your voice sounds a little rough Mike, I guess you catched a cold in front of the ocean. Very nice video btw. I approach the sky with a different concept which is weird because I tend to paint everything dark to light, but the sky is always the first thing I do almost finished before starting the rest of the painting and I first put on the blues, then the whites or lighter colours, and then I put on the darks, and the final retouches are the lights again.
Yes, I was losing my voice from singing too much! I was singing some Cheap Trick. 😂 I think starting with the sky can be a good. I should do it more often.
chamberlainpaintings LOL..that's a good excuse, I looove Cheap Trick!
😂👍 me too!
Beautiful!
Thanks!
