This is not just a quick tip on shaping clouds, this is a lesson on shaping our minds, learning to learn through a simple exercise of establishing the main steps (nothing too complex, just 3 values) to draw/paint 3dimentional objects. Thank you very much once again ! Dominique
Love how clearly you teach. Your desire that we all become successful if only in a first try is so evident. Thank you for the joy you put into these videos.
What an awesome artist & teacher ! Thank you. I was " lost in the clouds". Tried several other ways, but could not get it. Much appreciated! God bless, W
I needed some help with clouds today and immediately went to your UA-cam channel. The Quick Tip on clouds was the first one that popped up! Very helpful as always. I really appreciate your placing the quick tips on here for free. Good stuff. Thank you, Dianne!
Thank you so much, this video is so helpful. You actually teach people how to use techniques rather than trying to just show one way to do something without thinking. Really grateful to you. Will watch your others!
Wow! You are an amazing instructor! I learned so much from you in just a few minutes! I'm truly grateful to you for sharing your expertise with us! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Just love your teaching style! I am just beginning oil painting and your videos make so much sense to me. You are a wonderful teacher. Not pushing products or classes, just generous teaching. I think I may actually be able to do this!!
I recently discovered your tips. They are wonderful! Your explanation and demonstration of clouds gave me a light bulb moment. Thanks so much. I can’t wait to view all of your videos. Dianne
I need a refresher. I've been doing my clouds all wrong, and, got into some bad habits I need to break. Thank you for your instruction. It makes so much sense.
Thank you so much, Ms. Mize! Your explanation may save me a ton of time in checking out so many artists and their clouds. I have watched so many, to find that everyone's technique and idea of what a cloud should be is different. Your formula cacks up my art teacher's instruction on pencil sketching as applied to all art. I just had not gotten there yet. Thank you so much.
Like many others here, I truly appreciate what you are doing. This, and many other lessons of yours, are simple, precise and very effective. I’m very grateful that your teachings have helped me become a better artist.
Thanks Dianne a clear concise 12 mins that have simplified clouds - will apply the three grades plus reflections of sky colours on an oil I am just starting. Enjoy your tips - again thank you. Caz
Excellent construct for approaching clouds and many other 3-D challenges. Very clear and nicely presented. I watched this previously but it didn't quite "take" (I'm a beginner); but after practicing many, many clouds I can really appreciate your tips now, especially on getting the right basic color-hue (the sky) and going from there, using compliments, whites, etc., in the five steps. Many thanks!
My pleasure. You have the right approach to practicing. Too often, emerging artists don't realize that practicing behind the scenes with no intention of showing their results is the key to mastering painting.
I love squinting. I would do that when I looked or judged a show horse to get the general outline. I also used it in photography. Thank you for the awesome video.
I am so glad that I have found your Chanel, like the other comments say you explain it so well, even thick heads like me can understand it, l am about to etemt to paint the cover of pink Floyd's album the endless river l am so great full for this lesson thank you so much. Looking forward to checking out as many of your posts as I can.
Now you've gone and done it again...delivering one of your quick tips that brings clarity to a subject. I can't wait to paint my next landscape. For me, it not totally about clouds. It's about raising the expertise of our artist's eye. "The real voyage of discovery consists, not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes." Marcel Proust (abbreviated quote). Thanks Dianne. Joy
Among a lot of UA-cam "cloud technic" videos this is the first where I can see a good explanation for the lights, shades, and basic form of a cloud. Excellent video!!! Maybe the next step could be the perspective of the clouds...
Saying "Thank You" is hardly adequate, nevertheless, I do THANK YOU! The tutorial was magical...you make so much sense, and opened our eyes to what we really need to be looking at. Your tips may never get me up to your level, but they sure will make it easier along the way as I make an effort to master a cloud. My heartfelt appreciation. You are a lovely lady with a lovely personality, and a whole heap of beautiful talent that you do not mind sharing.!
This is not just a quick tip on shaping clouds, this is a lesson on shaping our minds, learning to learn through a simple exercise of establishing the main steps (nothing too complex, just 3 values) to draw/paint 3dimentional objects. Thank you very much once again ! Dominique
Thanks for that, Dominque. It's always a pleasure to do these, especially for those of you who see the bigger picture (pun intended).
