I haven’t picked up a paint brush in years. I’ve spent a couple weeks watching your videos, and I’ve now finished three paintings I’m so proud of. Not because they’re the best paintings, but because I’ve returned to an old love of mine. Thanks for the motivation Chris!

I have not painted for 47 years, came accross Chris, thought wow, why not, watched the videos a few times, just done the lime, lemon and red cup, showed my partner and he could not beleive i had painted it.
That 47 years i could still remember some of my art college days, but Chris' videos so good.
Must admit i have been drawing professionally architecture all that time, but nothing as free as painting.
Now i have to go get me some better brushes.
      Thanks

Thanks for showing the wiping/cleaning of the brush during painting. This is missing from the majority of tutorials I watch. Made it really hard when I first started following along and didn't know when to do it

I like how you show your reference material. Most painters don't even mention it, though we know they have to, to be painting realistic landscapes.

I am a painter from China, deeply inspired by your paintings. Your brushstrokes are smooth and powerful, and your paintings are not only technically exquisite, but also full of creativity and imagination. They are truly stunning. In this painting, you have successfully captured the beauty and tranquility of nature, giving people a sense of transcendent tranquility

What I have noticed is I have a different technique for different types of trees.
Your technique wouldn’t work so good for a spruce or pine but for an oak or an elm it kicks ass.
But really your system would work, it’s all the same, just establish the form and colours and the shape figures itself out

i know it's weird, but i'm self taught, and peoples processes helps me establish my own... if that makes any sense.

Hello. I have a question: how do you oil-out a painting without using harmful solvents? All the references I find talk a formula with some oil + gamsol or similar

      @itsshepherd5618 5 місяців тому

Walnut oil. Look into non toxic MGraham paints and galkyd. There are videos on the site about solvent free. I first wipe the brush of heaviest paint with paper towel, then clean more with walnut oil, then wash with ivory soap bar.

hello im korean student and i have some question..! (because there's no one i can get advice from)
i'm now practicing oilpainting on the paper( canson oil.acrylic paper) and the problem is that I cant mix the color because it is just erased by my brush ,,,
1.Should I practice on the canvas instead?
2.and also oilpaint can't be painted on the paper?
3.Lastly Can you tell me what type of canvas you are using in the video..?
im so sorry that I have so many questions but I'll be so glad if you answer my question...thank you

The Brocolli Flavoured Fudge Pops, i think they had those in the Vegan food trucks @ the anti-nuclear domonstrations at Ringhlals/Barsbäck i used to go to in the 80's, with some Goth friends.... Very civilized, the staff just thought it was amusing. And great Vegan food..
The fudge pop (& the cubistic fudge pop), would have been 100% correct.if you painted Edward Scissorhands next to it. (Or Tim Burton, like he looked when he worked as animator for Disney. He looked exactly like Edward Scissorhands, very Goth.
