@@GRNbull98 not necessarily, it’s radar is better and it has IRST, along with AIM120 and HARMs. If added it would have 9Ms but the F14B is already supposed to have 9Ms and the A is supposed to have 9Ls
I've been only using the F-14B, the modern RWR easily makes it worth the + 0.3 br. Not many 13.0 uptier and I usually get at least 3 phoenix kills before the merge but 4 or even 5 are not uncommon. The issue when you do face the high altitude amraam users is that you don't have any counter, the Aim-120A easily outranges the phoenix, which is bs. So what I end up doing is just ignoring them and focus on low flying targets then rtb. Players flying at high altitude right now are the good ones that know how to notch fox-3 anyway so you rarely kill them. Phoenix is way too slow and clumsy to pose a real threat to them. So yeah, just keep punishing the ground huggers as usual. F-14D super tomcat, when.
@@markcorrigan3930 Not in range, only the aim-120D manages to come close. The amraam was designed as a medium range missile at first. Also garbage by what metrics?? the Phoenix retired because the cold war ended. That's it. No threat of long range bombers anymore so a shorter range but more maneuverable(and especially much smaller) Aim-120 was more suitable. The Aim-120A had a shorter range than the Aim-7F sparrow but in-game it outranges every other fox-3 by a long shot.
O problema é que o radar do f14 não 👎 locka direito na tela, quando lança no alvo que quer muda para o que não quer, mat fala isso, eles precisam tirar rng de change lock automático
In rb I think it can still be effective but it’s at a distinct disadvantage in sim battles because its radar can’t see targets within a few miles making it almost blind up close. Also those engines are so hot that you’ll never flare an R73 so when anyone gets near you, you’re basically dead. I’d love to see an F14D with a radar that doesn’t suck up close and one that can track targets flying away from it.
I’m doing fine with Sparrows against AIM-120s. The tactic is to stay high, not low. Multipathing is unreliable now, the proper way to use the AIM7Ms at top tier is to fly high and outrange the AIM-120s, and just go cold if someone launches on you. I very often take out AIM-120 carriers at high altitude with Sparrows because they are tunnel visioning their TWS and I fired before them.
Oh mat you can go higher and faster to get higher PK launch the aim54c outraged most fox3 for quite a lot if you launch from low altitude its basically the same utilize the speed of tomcat to your advantages try above 30k feets about 10k Meter
The most kills you'll get from Aim54's will be players that fly straight and don't know how to avoid fox-3's. That's the only reason it performs well right now. Yes the multipath change made it easier to kill low flying targets, but the missile is still the same and as easy to avoid as before. You can literally outturn the missile because it is so heavy and turns bad. I got killed like 2-3 times from an Aim54 since patch release and it was always my fault for being careless
Listening to US mains? Really? I don't remember getting a missile equivalent to the r-27ER BS we dealt with for over a year and a half... that's all people wanted

i have actually been having BETTER luck in uptiers with the f-14B, people seem to be underestimating how the phoenix will absolutely run them down due to it's incredible range since they mainly expect amraams and the like. whereas in downtiers no one really seems to want to challenge it at ALL and immediately take evasive action not long after launch IF they are flying at a suitable altitude to begin with.
