What's crazy is, this same core philosophy about undervaluing potential content partners was cited in Dunkey's "done with league" video like 6 years ago, and its still the same shit. Idk how a company like Riot gets so big, and still has not figured out basic marketing. They don't make an effort to work with popular content creators, they make costreaming way more difficult and restrictive than it needs to be, and they somehow can't capitalize on a guy like Mr Beast being a vocal supporter of their game. It's like people want so badly to advertise their game, and Riot's like "nah fuck off actually."

    • @ManHeIsAwesome
      @ManHeIsAwesome Рік тому +4

Its not about the views, exposure etc.
Its about rules. A company that breaks its own rules and become a 'meta slave' is never going anywhere. Riot know this. See where Riot is now compared to where it was when Dunkey made that video.
Dunkey is still exactly where he was years ago and even his viewership is stagnant while Riot keeps getting better.

@@ManHeIsAwesome Riot got bigger because it has hundreds of employees, multi billion dollars. and 0 competition in the genre in e sports for over half the games lifespan. Aside from dota 2, which genuinely hits a very different market. It has nothing to do being a meta slave or any of that shit. Because in reality, riot did that with seraphine and garnered shit loads of attention. New champions are all filling the same niche of being bright, bubbly, and disney. Whilst being inclusive to all people to make them feel attached to the characters. During a time when people are dying to have their voice heard. They are directly following a political meta and it's doing them very well. I don't know what world you are living in.
Riot's detachment from their player base and their general marketing is absolutely garbage. The only reason they can do most of what they do without going under is because they are already established and powerful within the scene.

I think the answer as to why this is can be seen in a valorant e-sports controversy. Sean Gaeres was an ex CS:GO pro turned valorant streamer / analyst. He is super fucking intelligent and was super ahead of his time at the beginning of the game. He eventually became an analyst for Riot for VCT events. The problem was that he was starting to get much to big on a personal brand level, and this was just not something Riot could handle. They like employees and those who rep their brand to be willing to do their bidding. They pushed Sean Gares out of casting, not letting him cast a masters event despite him offering to do it completely for free. This is a really obvious pattern from riot. They don't like when they can't 100% control the narrative and so they are cautious of who they let co-stream, who they let work for them, and who they let represent them. (another example DoA and Monte). really great article on the topic. www.dexerto.com/esports/richard-lewis-sean-welcome-to-riots-world-1786864/

Someone was able to pass the word over and get them to zoom out further in game 2 and 3 but otherwise nothing was done. I would like to see a Doublelift+Ludwig content series where Ludwig and Doublelift BOTH make a bet in the same direction: that Doublelift can coach Lud to Diamond within, idk, 5 months, and DL takes personal responsibility for Ludwig's progress, the "Mickey" to Lud's "Rocky."
Ludwig has said on stream he's running low on content ideas, that he's a god gamer, and anyway he's into making dumb bets and playing sidekick while sharpening his skills in anything game-related & contentbrained, so this would be right up Lud's alley. Plus, League of Legends is still a huge pool of viewership that Lud hasn't really tapped into, and you could be his gateway to it. This charity event was the perfect beginning for this partnership because any League cred he might've had got absolutely _ONEPIECED_ here, and now he's due for a Redemption Arc. Who else to whip him up those Rocky Montage Stairs but the Retired Pro whose games he threw?
Occasionally ppl like Tyler and Mizzy could join comms just to grief the training seshes. Oh, one episode with QTcinderella and imaqtpie [BOTH QTs!!! AT LAST]. Dude it would be such a rich content farmhouse. If Lud does really well some day, you could sub in Damonte as coach for a day - I have no idea what happened to Tanner (Damonte) but I still remember him as the most charismatic LCS player of all time. So yeah, guest coaches could be a thing, if you and Lud wanted to give other dying League streamers a piece of the pie, and the variety would be great for content (Heisendong is hella funny and pretty chill, too, as another guest coach, and Ludwig strikes me as Donger Pocket Pick kinda guy).
Here's my idea for the stakes: if Ludwig fails, Doublelift isn't allowed to play any videogame except Jump King till he beats Jump King, and every time DL has a "Major Fall" (to be defined by the two of them together, beforehand), Lud has to put, idk $20 into a pot (maybe DL can match with $2 per fall, idk). At the end, the money could
idea 1: go to a charity (boring but crowd fave)
idea 2: go to a new Geoguesser Tournament to be hosted by Ludwig, Rainbolt and Dream
idea 3: go towards sending Doublelift and Ludwig to Japan together, but neither is allowed to speak in anything except their broken Japanese during daylight hours.
3.1 They can "buy" English sentences, but they have to type it in their chats first and chat decides how much of their remaining Jump King Money each English sentence costs, money goes to a charity. Lud will inevitably bankrupt the pot on Day 1.
Okay I'm getting way too hyped for a dumb daydream. Pull it back, Cohen, pull it back.

tyler1 flaming doublelift for not walkthrough ludwig etc..but doublelift is actually so humble and just doesnt care if he wins or not but in the end doublelift actually says the truth..tyler1 did not pick a single scaling champion in all three games and just tyler1 perma flaming his team mates but he did many things wrong as well..besides it is a charity event man chill out and have some fun either you lose or win you are a winner to everyones eyes

44:10 Bro same. They actually get mad that someone who has 0.000023% of their play time isn't instantly good at the game. It happens a lot in rocket league too (and i'm sure other games).
Worst part apart league streams is twitch chat, especially Tyler's chat. He makes a single mistake as little as missing a cs and chat flames like they play perfectly every single game, and they carry this behavior over to other streamer's channels.

LCS athletes cant participate in other tournaments because NBA athletes can't? This is a false flag, professional athletes do not play sports outside their profession because of the potential for injury. The players are still free to make money however they want. NFL athletes have even helped promote the XFL. Honestly what is the potential chance for an LCS athlete to be injured at a tournament? With each bit of information that is leaked, the road to their demise is illuminated more and more.
