    Today we are making pomades. This pomade is my favorite recipe ever, and I was so stoked to use different scent blends and add it to the Rat Pack kits! The most important thing when formulating a good hair pomade is balancing your hydrating oils and butters with your dry oils and butters so you get nice moisture along with the texture and hold. Too many hydrating oils will leave you greasy, not enough leaves your hair looking dull. It's a balancing act. Also, pro tip: don't skip the whipping step. It's what makes the pomade useable!
    These pomades will be available in the rat pack kits at the end of the week!

    Soap & Clay is a family owned business operating in Washington State, but started out online thanks to Mrs. Soap & Clay's kickass brother and his amazing web design skills. The business was started as a tribute to Mrs. Soap & Clay's grandmother, the OG maker in the family that cultivated everyone's love for the DIY life. The studio/retail shop opened in 2017 on 6th Ave in Tacoma, and immediately began teaching soap, bath bomb, lotion, and scrub classes to the makers and maker enthusiasts of the PNW. In 2019, the pottery studio opened as well, making the soap shop a busy place full of artistic energy every minute of the day.
    Mrs. Soap & Clay has been featured on Business Spotlight, New Day Northwest, and was awarded a coveted place on the South Sound's 40 under 40 list in 2019, an award given to the most influential business people under the age of 40 each year. She cried when she walked up to the podium to accept the award. A lot.
    Drawing from her chemistry background and her maker spirit, Mrs. Soap & Clay infuses her favorite things into her soapy designs and creates products that are fun to see, use, and learn to make. Stick around for this ride - she'll take you on a great one.

    Seriously perfect timing, I'm getting my pixie cut this weekend and a good pomade is absolutely required for daily styling.

    My mister also shaves his head, so no rat pack set for him. But it’s fun watching everything get made!

    Could you possibly replicate Uppercut Deluxe Matt Pomade or Uppercut Deluxe Easy Hold? Its the only products i use in my hair. I'd love to make that myself. I only make soap and lip balm at the moment.

    @ 4:08 you say "held at heat for 20 minutes". What does that mean?

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  23 дні тому

      Hey! It means keep it a consistent warm temp - around 120 degrees - for 20 minutes.

    I'm curious about the shelf life of the product? Can you share it please 🙏

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  8 місяців тому

      Hey! Shelf life for the overall product is determined by the oil with the shortest shelf life. This particular one is a year, I believe.

      @@MrsSoapAndClay hi! Thank you for answering. Last question. Is there any alternative for brocolli seed oil? 🤔

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  8 місяців тому

      @dardizon26 hempseed oil, neem, or karanja are all good substitutes!

    • @dardizon26
      @dardizon26 8 місяців тому

      Unfortunately all oils you mention are not available in are market 😔How about castor oil, grapeseed oil or sweet almond oil? Can i use any of this to substitute brocolli seed oil?

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  8 місяців тому

      @dardizon26 Grapeseed would work as far as the consistency of the oil, but not the benefits. Castor is thick and should be used sparingly in a recipe like this. Sweet almond has great nourishing benefits and is slightly thicker than broccoli but it should work.
