- Some GoPro footage from the final battle at Australia's largest LARP event. There is also a few naughty words from players as the battle goes on (in case a warning is needed).

If you look like a leader, sound like a leader, and act like a leader, in my experience, people will follow. It's not a bad thing or a good thing thing. It simply unites people and can be either
I agree, but in this battle I was trying to take a step back from leading (which I have done plenty of over the years).
just give them theoden speech, and watch the magic
I'd rather this than kids doing drugs.
I'm with you! I wanna get my siblings in on this. They'd have a blast
Or staying inside on their phones and playing Minecraft.
Who else noticed the FREAKING SONG OF HEALING?!
Peyton Bernhardt me! Laughed so hard when I noticed it.
Lotr rohan funeral. Can't forget that BelloWAHHH at the end.
Yes. Epic.
this looks fun af
Yeah, absolutely is a lot of fun.
I know
Yeah fun af until a real fight breaks between 2 or more people!!!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I never knew this amount of people were into larping in Australia, i think i'd join if it was more organised like the British profounddecisions thing.
I've been to both Odyssey and Empire run by profound decisions and they are great events. Australia isn't there yet but they are moving in the right direction.
Same dude. I might consider joining just for the lols
The healer is my highlight
19:16 that death tho
Top 10 anime deaths.
I like that one of the healers used "Lament for Theodred" as their healing song :D
Thanks for uploading this, it was really good to see how the battle progressed from a different perspective (i spent most of the time healing behind Red and Green's far right flank).
13:07 WHEN THE WINGED HUSSARS ARRIVED
This is like level 10 cosplay I love it
So nerdy
Yet I love it 😍
I'm in the process of prepping for my first larp next year. I'm really looking forward to it, and this gives me an idea of what to expect.
Did you go yet? And how was it?
These LARP battles always seem chaotic with very little leadership or strategy... is there team leaders making battle plans and ordering commands etc? (like you were doing which was good) or is just a free-for-all so to speak? I could imagine that the more planning, organization and tactics employed, the more fun it would be, rather than just swinging swords at each-other haphazardly...
I think I would want a main commander for each sides army with secondary battle commanders working with smaller groups of fighters. I would want flags for flag signalling and horns or drums to initiate specific tactics to the groups etc Sort the soldiers into weapon groupings or specific fighting teams with mixes of weapons for certain operations etc... The strategies and commands would have to be well learned and understood by every participant and a clear hierarchy of command should be in place and well understood.... I think all this would be fun itself and would lead to much more authentic battles and much more fun than just chaos and people casually walking in and out of battle lines etc...
+The Vortex Math Laboratory yes the are people that give orders and apply strategy. The players are all members of warbands, these become the default military units. The warband leaders act as officers and one person will be chosen as a general.
Oh, cool, thanks for the reply. I just don't know enough about it all yet... I like it though. :) I wish we had something happening up here in Cairns so I could learn more about it but it seems pretty well non-existent around these parts. I would be most interested in the behind the scenes side of it - the "dungeon master" side of it so to speak... I could imagine it eventually evolving into something very cool, not that it isn't, but it could always be better.... more elaborate etc, which I know is mostly done for no money and by volunteers so it's easier said than done.
Yeah you need to have a chain of command, basic military organization.
You might look at this as an example of a type of military evolution. Sure it would work better with a centralised command structure but the armies are made up of various military alliances (beaten out in the week before the final battle) with many different levels of skill and coordination. Whether or not you can rely on or expect a group to follow the overall commander comes into the pre battle plan and a good generals plan on how you will use those groups.
I agree Banners and signals would help but only if you had trained armies that knew how to follow them.
0:00 *No*
Some of those healers have actual good voices
Omg this looks so fun
Love this!
So many good memories
i also like how at 7:20 some of the other warriors from your warband dragged you out of the line of fire to a healer, love it
Wish I was there man. No large scale larp groups where I'm from and I don't have the means to travel the distance to get to em. Looks super fun man, very envious of you.
Something about the healers praying or singing in the midst of all this chaos seems oddly baddass to me, lol.
i love Larpers
That was awesome... Bravo every single one of ya. Looks great craic
Hey, this was really neat to watch! I appreciated all the commentary you added to the video, I was actually able to follow along with the strategy and all that, which is more than what I usually get from these kinds of videos. Good job on this, and I'm sorry for all the shitty comments you're getting from people who think they're too cool for larp
Thanks for that. I should have more videos like this up soon.
16:34 that one roman
lol
This is what nerds do when they actully go outside ?
Tyler Cox
I wanna join them
LeRezwarrior in today's world , you can only put your trust in steel. Not foam swords. There's larp groups that use more authentic weapons (non blade swords) made of steal and they use more authentic armor . join those people not these guys in the video.
sounds like alot of money and more dangrous.. are you talkiong about joining hema groups??
why is the one healer using a mourning song for his healing lyrics?
Always thank your healer!
What's up with the lion woman? How many times do you have hit her for her to say yep I am down?
10 times to the chest from runewarriors only. Limb shots don't count.
That furry without mask, i mean giant lion killed me
I feel like I am in medieval Australia and all I can say is:
Rune Warrior
something I wondered does a larp battle go on until everyone on one side is "dead" or until a certain point?
This battle was until the last banner was remaining. At the regular weekly games there are various objectives.
Thin line between creativity and insanity.
i think that if an irl war were to happen they should just do LARP wars and the winners get what they want.
what would it look like from a top down view?
This was very interesting! You know, looking at this from the outside it doesn't seem as frenetic and fast as it actually is - talking from experience, I remember all of my fights very quick, violent and frenetic, but maybe that was because my larp is small. I was wondering a couple of things, anyway: does your rule system forbid charging against someone else? Because I don't think I've seen anyone do a charge in this video. Second: what kind of equipment are you wearing? I'm asking because I'm just curious and I like to see what people from other parts of the world in other rule systems wear
+VioletHaynsworth the rules do in fact forbid charging other players. The game probably sits in the middle of the 'hardcore' spectrum. More restrictive than some but harder than a lot of other games.
In terms of gear I was using a calimacil naginata and had some leather lamellar with a full faced helm. I was going fairly light because I wanted to be mobile and respond as the battlefield changed.
Yeah I understand your need for being mobile. I've tried chainmail and leather and while chainmail offers more "protection", nothing beats being light and mobile, and being able to go to any point in the battlefield quickly. Thanks for your reply, anyway ^^
That was awesome!!!!!! I'm new to this stuff but it looks fun! :0
Take a few bongs rips and drink some beers and this might be kinda entertaining
2nd bowl here. Pretty fucking fun to watch.
way ahead of you.
what's the gun the samurai at the beginning using and where can I get one
lol looks like you're leadership(official or not) benefited them a lot.
Who were the gray people with the gray-ish shields? I liked the shield wall tactics they had going in, very well coordinated.
Grey could be the colours of the "Blades of the North" who are a viking raider themed group. If the shields were more teal then it could be "The Venators" a Polish hussar themed group.
I haven't seen the part he's referring to, but he could also mean the Eldar, who are extremely regimented and coordinated.
Just for your future reference, hits to limbs from Rune warriors deal 0 damage to Epic creatures, only hits to their torso deal 1 damage. You were hitting her arm and expecting her to take damage.
+alteredchild yep that was my bad. I only decided to fight in the final battle that morning so I wasn't up to date on the rules.
IM WANTING TO KNOW ABOUT PERMANENT DEATH... is it just in that game... in that round... or do i have to get rid of the entire character. :(
what was the answer to the riddle?
what was the answer to the riddle
Where are the assassins and rogues?
when's the next one?
Your healers are really talented singers.
Greetings from Germany, keep it up! :-)
+Hordil thanks, I hope to get back to Germany sometime. I miss the food, beer and wonderful people.
19:29
That SUV seems rather out of place.
It's a time machine
I love healers' singing.
If every one can be healed how do you know who wins?
Who old do you have to be to take part in that larp??
+Joshua Roos this game had a minimum age of 16 to take part in the fighting.
RIP Monkey King.
Yeah that was so sad 😭
I'm working on a new larping experience
I begin to see the problem from the other side. Your alliance of two had some better generalship, or more from the back at least. Most of black/gold/blue was in the thick of it and didn't have much overall perspective.
How do they keep track of health seems so hard to keep track
You keep track of your own health by knowing how many HP you're on (start off with 3 and add on with what armour you have dependant on whether it's leather/steel and what it covers) and keep track of what weapons hit you where. EG a one hander to the chest is -3, on the limbs is -1 and a 2 hander or arrow anywhere is -3
acetonefree111 woah alot harder than it looks then.Gotta keep calculating
New to LARP, I’m a kid looking for a larp near Atlanta Georgia. Anybody got one?
Lol, i'm watching this seeing if i can spot any friends/anyone from my town that was there haha
Looks like a lot of fun, though I'm not sure how people know when they're dead. Who keeps track of HP? I didn't see any offensive spell casters, what are the rules for that?
For the first time I wish I lived in Australia.
Pokerface keep track of your own health and how much damage ypu have taken
Arent yall suspose to fall and play dead when yall get killed but instead yall fall back and be healed, its just weird thats all,but anyways i can respect yall bringing back the history and acting it out
Different games have different rules about damage and healing. But thanks for watching.
Where is it?
Melbourne
thanks, in Russia LARP is more different... but many common things too
This is a week long LARP event. I have never been to it but I know it is in Melbourne Austalia
Actually only the Friday nights are in Melbourne, this is currently held bi-annually in Mafeking Rover Park.
Which is about 2 hours North of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Friday nights are a "smaller" game that lasts usually around 2-3 hours, and attracts around 200-300 people, every week.
alteredchild How did I not hear about this? I’ve lived Melbourne nearly all my life and never heard of this.
That one Roman looks very lost.
for a battle there is an awful lot of standing around and wandering back and forth aimlesly.. but hey AT LEAST THE RED LIGHT ON THE GOPRO IS STILL BLINKING! AND MONKEY KING RIDDLES: DON'T FORGET THAT!!
YEEET!
WLL WHAT WAS THE ANSWER TO THE RIDDLE?
The answer is "a ship".
The Professional Hobbyist thank you! Love this video btw :)
Well fought!
"Rune warrior,rune warrior!" :)))
I would be interested if rules were a little less strict
Damn near ate it like Dark Souls at 16:44
Also that's a cute whatever that red head is. She cute.
So many people have a Treville sword in this video xD I don't see that sword at all in European or American LARPS. Only see it in Australian, lol
It is partly due to having a large renaissance group in this part of the battle. Many of them have the Treville or the Agrippa. We also have an upcoming new game system called Blackpowder and Bloodlines where rapiers as super appropriate.
That would certainly explain it! I personally love the rapier, and I'll have to check out the Blackpowder and Bloodline game systems out online. Also, thank you for your great haste to respond!
Why no cavalry?
Eye Pop Compilations lol larders being trampled by horses
Lmao those polish guys.
does anyone actually get hurt in these things?
Not really.
if i made my boffer weapons... i would make them more aerodynamic
You have strange weapons... and why is nobody wearing a helmet? looks very different from the larp i know from germany...
Push the attack damnit. Form a cohisive unit and keep advancing
Gotta say, this ain’t my favourite larp event.
Lol wtf. This is what a lack of communication looks like.
James Whittington pretty damn hard to communicate without radios
OMG these aren't foam weapons!
Carbon fibre core with injection moulded foam and a latex coating is what most of them are. The armour and a lot of the shields are very real though
they're just not using offers, and thank god
17:53
Lmfaooo
Asians,Elves,English,German,French,Wizards,and Vikings? WTF IS THIS?!
Fantasy :D
seems so painfully slow
Well, movies make everything appear instantaneous, but remember certain battles in The Lord of the Rings and the Chronicles of Narnia had still periods, and if there's smaller factions in large multiples, that means they'll try to pick one another off from weakest to strongest. So, waiting around and breaking off to make strategies is pretty normal
monkey king best avatar
Much faster fight than this one just gone...
Yeah, I have about 2 hours of footage to go through from the recent final battle.
We die for sigmar!!!
Great, I'm in that part of UA-cam again.........
The freaking awesome part?
Lunatic- Come with thee, for I shall protect yee.
@@robertcornelius3514 I believe that the proper term is nave good sir. But I shall accompany you in sheltering this wee lamb.
The Rohirric elegy is quite nice though I'm not sure it's a healing song lol
lol that's what I thought too
my mom thinks that if i LARP then it will lead to me wanting to kill people irl...
i am very sensitive... idk why they would think that.
13:40 Do I see a jedi ?
17:00 what an elf!
So Nerdy
I go from watching real footage of extremely close battle and death,
to this...
Pug Scorpion Cow modern battle? With projectiles?
Same here, I have lost all sense of reality
Pug Scorpion Cow have you ever been hit by a plastic cane? Dat shit hurts
my mom I've been in many fights and hit with many objects. I just wish I had a magic healer to heal me mid brawl
Man I want to get into this BUT seems very disorganised
depends entirely which warbands youre a part of
very odd.
18:03 Hmm This man is getting beaten
Surprisingly more women larping than I first thought
I like this version is slower and more tactical than a 30 second battle Americans do, but at points this is also kinda wayyyy boring
19:25 😭😰
That lion was cheating
The monkey king is a great RPer, bet it was fun putting him down.
This is what battle would look like if you take everybody athletic out of combat.
