Parker appreciates Rick, but Parker has to be a boss and Tony has set a hardass example if that. I think Parker is doing a decent job of trying to stay balanced. Sometimes you have to put a little pressure on people to get your point across and make it stick.

Everyone against Parker in the comments. Rick took 4 employees from the plant that was actually running without even calling him or running it by him first. Just one of those things where Parker felt he had to remind him he’s wasting his money and resources. Which it’s ok to do that if you have a talk with the boss first to make sure it’s ok, but to do it without a single phone call or trying to get his permission I think is what got under Parker’s skin.
Parker is the boss. Rick should have communicated that he needed more people. 50,000.00 dollars is alot of money. You allows tell your boss every time there is a change or if something is wrong. The boss never wants to hear bad news.

Between being a hard ass and being fair or good friend is a tough exercise with Parker doesn't fully grasp yet. In time I'm sure he'll get better, he's already better than when he started, just not balanced out yet.

I understand where Parker stands in all this. He's just following protocol. Rick usually just do his thing. But he usually doesn't let Parker know what's happening. It's true what Parker is saying, if he's gonna be doing things his own way, he needs to get his own mining equipment. Due to the fact that all those things belong to Parker. It's his to operations. As an employee, he should understand that there's limits and boundaries. Can't be doing whatever you want. Parker has gotten into trouble with Tony Beets in the past because he listened to Rick. Rick needs to stop acting as if the world revolves around him. There's guidelines to everything.

As you can tell how Parker is still doing without Ness and now Brandon who didn’t give him notice. Say what you want about Parker but he doing something right.
I really wish that Parker maybe hadn't been as successful in the gold mining business so fast. He's still way young and I know he has the proper experience but it's kinda gone to his head at such a young age and he's really turned into quite the jerk. I miss like seasons 1-3 Parker. When he was still a nice, humble guy. Now he's just blinded by gold and he's a complete you know what!!

Firing someone (speaking as someone soon to be fired) is about the owner/company thinking that they can do better with somebody else. Sometimes its personal, but that's usually not the reason. It doesn't mean you necessarily did a bad job, but not good enough to keep you on and they are willing to take the risk of someone new who may know less than you.

when the foreman decides on their own to move several machines off productive work, to work on overhead work, and not call the boss/owner? Rick is lucky he didn't get fired on the spot, one call over phone or radio and there wouldn't have been a problem. Happy that Rick is leaving. Some of the best bosses train their employees to do a job and then let them do it. If a boss is going to stay on top of his employee all the time then he midest well do the job himself. Rick saw the need and took the lead. There is nothing wrong with that. I know I wouldn't want my employees to come to me for every little thing that needed to be done. Employees like to work for bosses that let them do their job

Parker has point, you know you show up to check on your 2nd operation only to find that it’s running and most of the crew is working on something completely different. Rick should’ve talked to Parker first because maybe Parker would’ve been willing to come down and run the second the excavator instead of pulling Chris off the plant or vice versa, or come up with a another solution.
With all the bad clean ups in Indian river lately, if it was my money, I'd be thinking about what Tony said to Todd years ago, and I'd be DRILLING !! You want to know why the gold is drying up, than for frigs sake DRILL DRILL DRILL !! Has Parker learned nothing over these past years !?!? Those drill surveys are no guarantee of anything, especially if they were poorly done. But I know from the show that Parker has seen surveys of the claims he gets from Tony and the new one he got just this year.
I respect Parker for his ability to run a business but he’s a horrible boss. He runs his crew ragged, only shows up to bitch, and doesn’t operate any equipment or help his guys. I realize he has business stuff to do and run but a great boss gets down in the trenches with their crew and leads by example. Rick also needed to communicate with Parker a lot better. You never just take resources from another area and use it for your own project without at least calling or notifying your boss

Rule #1: When upset with your guys, begin nit picking every little God damn thing with their current situation. Starting with the least important factors that really make 0 difference with the job at hand (vests, hard hats, ect) This will bring your crew member up to a similar level of your irritation and anger, that way you'll both be able to recognize the problem and can now work together and find a solution through a professional and open minded conversation.
Just like the actors in the job orientation video you tried to watch when you were hired, but were way to hungover to give a flying fuck.
It's health and safety to wear a high visibility vest on a building site or mining site. Rick pretty much broke health and safety protocol and thats a sack able offense.
Rick was lucky because if a H&S inspector or Tony was on the site and saw that shit, they could of been fined alot of money or worse shut down.
Parker has the worst attitude
The way he treats his crew is the reason he lost Gene and his Australian girlfriend. Parker had everything handed to him from his grandfather when he began mining so he has that "spoiled kid who came from money" mentality. Yes he does work his ass off. But he is a terrible boss.
He's successful at what he does. But if we're being honest, if he wasn't making money from the TV show, and his crew wasn't doing the same, not many people would stay with him for more than a season. He needs to realize this if he wants to keep doing this long term.
Look at Tony. He's massively successful and wealthy. But nobody really likes the guy. Parker is slowly turning into Tony Beets, except Tony has a large support network. Parker pushes people away. He acts this way when he's this young, it's only going to get worse with age.
