Donna, I am 76 years old and never had anyone to teach me to piece a quilt. Most of the information I found was too complicated. THEN I FOUND YOU! You make everything look possible. THANK YOU! You are a real blessing to me. I would believe I am not the only one who feels that way! May God Bless you!
Donna Lindquist hello Sonja I am a raw beginner and just love your tuts....I'm in the middle of moving but made a corner in the back of my sewing room where I'm trying out some small projects to give to my family as Christmas gifts........I need to hurry because in mid October I'm having a knee replacement and don't quite k now how I will manage my sewing so it is giddeeup Rhoda and sew when you can. Thanks again for your tutorials.
Hi , read your text to Donna ( whom I love ) and thought you might enjoy Jenny Doans tutorials as well. You can find her at: Missouri star quilt tutorials . I love Jenny too and she is a delight to watch.
Please note that my quilt does not follow the pattern exactly. All the blocks are made correctly, but I turned some of my blocks a different way than what is shown on the pattern. Just goes to show you that even experienced quilters can still have trouble following a pattern! - Donna
Just say you did it on purpose and go with It! Yours turned out much better than the original pattern! I'm sew in love! Also, just placed my first order with your shop the other day. The selection you have is amazing and I will always order from your shop from now on!
Nina from Virginia... Your version is beautiful too. It goes to show how arranging the same blocks makes different patterns. I love everything you do Donna.
I actually had to do two screen shots to compare them side by side to see the difference! (Daniela's original pattern "frames" the mostly-solid blocks with the dark accent strips, giving it the illusion of large circles when you step back from it, whereas Donna your layout "frames" the 9-patch blocks). I think if you're going for the illusion of curves, stick with the original pattern layout, but if, as I, you like the near-solid blocks to appear almost as if they are piercing the 9-patch blocks and have seemingly extra pointy corners, go with Donna's layout. Both are lovely, really!
It’s still beautiful. Thanks for the disclosure too. My pattern came with a color diagram for sewing the rows. I made the king size and numbered the rows. To prevent a mistake I used the diagram to get the row started properly. Your tutorial aids in getting the project organized and less confusing. Thanks Donna
Donna, I think your version of the Bellagio quilt is much more interesting than the pattern version in all respects. I love your placing of the black accent strips, and the colors you chose are a very interesting array. Nothing is predictable, and I like that.
Donna, I think your quilts are stunning. Yet they are practical in that you’d want them in your home, in every room! And a style for every person on your gift list. I made the Cozy Quilts Braidwork Quilt for my granddaughter and sent photos through email. Hope you got them. Happy quilting, everyone!
I love it when you show a nice-sized quilt that doesn't use up an entire jelly roll ... so I could make one for myself, and a matching one for a friend, with maybe one having a light-coloured background using the darker strips in a roll, and the other having dark-coloured background using the lighter jelly roll strips, to ensure good contrast so the lovely pattern really "pops". Thank you, Donna!! ~Diana K.
I am 73 and have never tried patchwork before I wanted to learn because I have 2 great grand children to sew for now like you I found Jordan fabric's and I am on my third quilt very clear and easy to understand I just love this site .
Donna I didn't notice it at first but the blocks on the packaged image of the quilt shows them in different placements then how you laid yours out for 2 distinctive looks. The solid squared blocks have the black around them and the 9 patch looking one is where you put your solid ones. Talk about double takes. Nicely done!! Love your videos!!
Just watched your video and thought that your quilt was a lot different from the Cozy Quilts package. At first, I thought the difference in appearance was because your quilt has a lot of varying colors. Then I realized that you didn't set your blocks the same way as pictured. The package quilt makes the focus on the more solid blocks; yours, the 9-patch. I can't decide which way I like it better. I'm going to make it in shades of blue, green and purples.
Gorgeous. Always gorgeous. Donna deserves awards for her contributions to the art and craft of quilting. Such incredible patience and consistent quality. The videos are wonderful too. They’re like a science to watch. 👏🏻 🥇
I lived in Oregon for 25+ years. I feel a kindred spirit with your teaching style and approach to quilting. Wish I lived closer so I could come and shop at your store! I'll be sure to check out your offers and selections. Thank you so much!
I love how you easily explain how to piece it all together. I have become a cozy quilt addict! Gotta love youtube and those of you willing to jump in front of a camera and show us all how it's done!
Thank you Donna for your excellent teaching. I have found that your finger pressing and ironing instructions have made all of my patchwork turn out so much better. Thus when I put on the borders and then on the long arm it is a breeze to square it to be quilted. You do beautiful work!
i just love, love your quilts but wish you would make more, more tutorials. Lol. I can't get enough of your videos. I have learned so much. I am 56 years old & I am disabled & I am finally getting a area big enough in my trailer to finally do some major quilting. I had to get two rooms opened up into one big room in order for me to quilt as a hobby. That is what i love to do but i never had enough room in order to make bigger quilts. I use to be an over the road truck driver with my Husband. I got sick in 2011 with breast cancer & other complications so that caused me to have way too much down time. So, in those years up till now. I taught myself how to quilt with yours & also with Jenny from missouri star quilt videos helped me along the way. I have two girls with 3 grandkids & i made my grandkids a quilt with there names & birthday on them. I actually have a sewing machine that embroiders. I just love to hear your videos in the very beginning when you say, hi I am Donna Jordan from Jordan Fabrics. If somehow i miss you say that when i play your videos, that i would have to rewind the video to the very beginning of the tape just to hear you say that.. Why? I don't know! haha,. It's funny that i have to hear you say that. It would make my day if somehow I could meet you & Jenny! I know that would be impossible because i live in Kentucky & i can't get around like i did before. There was one cozy quilts pattern that you made that I had to buy. So, i did & it is kinda Ironic because to this day, I still have not made that quilt yet. But, I will, soon as i build this space so i can!! I just wanted to say a few words to tell you how much i love your videos & please don't stop!! I will be buying some material from you soon. I know i could get my materials closer to home. But, i just wanted to show you how much i appreciate you taking the time to show people like me how to put a quilt together by purchasing some items from you. *Just saying* = I miss seeing your husband in some of your videos. Have some more tutorials with your husband in them. He sounds like he is a great help to you. haha. Well, I hope you all have a great life & success for years to come! God bless you all.
I read your entry and I can relate, for me it was a "close call" with what could have been very bad, I was diagnosed with melanoma on my face. I have been blessed with a good doctor, he was very compassionate and very aggressive with my treatment. praise be to God the melanoma is gone, but it took three years to get rid of it. Two years of active treatment and one year to recover. In the meantime I decided to learn to quilt, I agree with you, Donna and Matt Jordan are tremendous teachers. I watch them as often as possible. I wouldn't be surprised if you wrote that you watched their videos and said to yourself, " I can do that!" It's the best feeling in the world. Take care!
Do you ever get tired of hearing how awesome you? You are so awesome with your tutorials and I mean it. You make it so easy to follow. I'm like Diana below, I get so excited when I receive notice of a new tutorial.
As usual, a very 'comforting tutorial', I always feel like we are just friends chatting about a quilt. I couldn't help noticing the change from the pattern, which in itself is a plus option! The black lines go around the solids on the pattern whereas they go around the 9 patch squares in your quilt. So this lovely pattern can go two ways with two very different looking designs!
Yay!!! Another video!!! I look forward to your videos every week, after a long day at work I settle down and relax and watch you make the most beautiful quilt! Your a true master, thanks you, I hope one day I can make quilts as magnificent as yours
OMG Donna, I had to re -watch this several times to see the difference in the layout. I finally caught it in the secondary pop. Danielle's shows a circle and yours shows a square. Both are great; the square with the same background is a bit more on the modern look and the circle with slightly darker set in triangle would be really fab in say Kansas Trouble fabrics... Let's make that one this year. lol
Another great quilt. Patterns look very difficult, but indeed, Daniella Stout has creating patterns that look difficult, but are easy to make, with the necessary dedication and attention of course!
Oh wow!!!!! That came out so nice. The pattern looks complicated but really it's not. I'm loving this new hobby of Quilting. Love your videos. I'm watching them over and over again.
You layed out your quilt different to the cover quilt on the pattern and I like your layout the best. Lovely colours too, this is one for my to-do list for sure. TFS 👌. 🐢
What a wonderful quilt! The pattern uses 3 simple blocks that make a magnificent complex look. Thank you for your wonderful tutorials. Yet another to add to my project list.
Another incredible tutorial! Thank you, Donna!! I just wrote you an email about 2 weeks ago requesting you do this Bellagio pattern and you wrote back saying you would. I'm so glad you did! The colors you chose are fantastic! I have to do this pattern. It's so beautiful! Side Note: I was starting to go through Jordan Fabrics video withdrawals!! LOL. So glad you're back and back at it....oh wait, it's only been a week and a half since your last video 😂😂
I can hardly skip a day of watching your tutorials, they are my favorite and I watch a lot of MSQC Jenny Doan & Angela Waters / Midnight Quilt show. I love the Bellagio and plan to stitch it soon for my Daughter in law who is an Executive for MGM at Bellagio in Vegas....so I must! My good friend & I are making a special day road trip (~6 hr rd trip) to Grants Pass, OR from Corvallis, Oregon this Sat. 8/3/19 specifically to visit your shop for the first time. I am soo excited, and we hope to meet you, Matt & family. See ya soon, D.D. & Anita
Beautiful Donna. What a wonderful job you do explaining every step. I love how you teach like this is the first video anyone has seen because there are some people just finding your channel. Keep up the awesome work!
I have a little game I like to play when I watch your videos. It’s called- which color thread will she pick? Love your videos. I’ve made several. Working on the urban cottage right now. I’ve also done Jacobs ladder, the 5 star quilt, and I’m quilting the hanging lanterns one for my aunt.
Donna I love your tutorials. And I have to say that the dry iron followed by the steam is one of the best helps for setting the blocks! Thank you so much. Keep up the great work.
So happy you're back with another tutorial! I just love them! You made such a beautiful quilt, I've been wanting to make a quilt with bright solid colors and this looks like a fun pattern! Your giveaways are so beautiful too! Thanks so much Donna!!
I'm so happy you made this video - I just bought the pattern last week! Can't wait to get started on it. I really like how you turned the one block 90 degrees - it totally changes the look of the quilt. I'll have to try mine both ways before I sew it together.
Your variation on the pattern looks great. The original has a more formal look with the black stripes surrounding the single coloured (with inner background) block, but your variation adds a lot of fun with the black stripe framing the nine patch, which I think really suits the playfulness of the colour scheme. What a difference fabrics make! They look like completely different patterns. Beautiful as always! Those runners are striking! Especially the green RK & green/violet Anthology. They have my favorite leaf batiks, & in such bright colors! What beautiful runners you & Matt create! Thank you for all you share. Have a wonderful week.
Once again a great tip filled tutorial 💖 The tip for finger pressing has helped my construction so much! Always start the day extra happy when I see you've posted a new video 🤗.
Wow! Three-block layout! I've played with two-block variations, but never three. This one is interesting in that you reversed the background squares with the colors in the 9 patch which eliminated the circle illusion in the final layout. Curious!
(1) SHOUT OUT to Daniels Stout for such a beautiful quilt patterns and the STRIP TUBE RULER!!!! (2) It’s like Christmas 🎄 in July with another WONderful, FABulous, PROfessional TEACHING video from DONNA!!! (3) THANK YOU DONNA I was hoping you would make a video of the Bellagio quilt pattern. You are an EXcellenté teacher 👩🏫!
I love it. You make it look so easy. I did notice on the pattern the the accent was surrounding the solid colour blocks not the 9 patch. It’s great to see both ways. Both ways look great
Great quilt!! I liked this pattern when I first saw it a while ago. It is nice to see you make it. You do such a wonderful job with your videos. Thank you!
Love this quilt. It's beautiful. The colors are so bright & cheerful. I always try to pick a color thread when you pick. Gotten a few right. I think you're tutorials are a great learning tool. Thank you
I thought I was the only one who noticed! But I disagree - I liked the original layout better, on the pattern, as it gives a nice secondary pattern [I see circles]. This one confines the 9-patch and separates it from the other dots. I'm thinking Blues would be pretty...
I hope you show quilting ASMR, it's so satisfying and peaceful to watch
Donna,
I am 76 years old and never had anyone to teach me to piece a quilt.

No matter how many times I've done it... or watched you do it... seeing a Jelly Roll opened up just is the coolest thing!
The sound of the rotary cutter when you are sub cutting the fabrics would be soothing to fall asleep to. : ) Love the brights in this quilt, nice.
It's true . I'd stay all day long just listening to these sounds.😴😄 no more pills
lol, i love that sound too

I noticed that too, loved both!!
donna I have noticed that every quilt you do, your nail color matches the fabric that you use. Love it.
I am always interested to see your manicure! Always such interesting colors.
Donna, that Belagio Quilt is beautiful and fun looking. Love all the bright colors. And by the way your quilting machine is just plain Awesome.
Gorgeous. Always gorgeous. Donna deserves awards for her contributions to the art and craft of quilting. Such incredible patience and consistent quality. The videos are wonderful too. They’re like a science to watch. 👏🏻 🥇

It looks ridiculously hard but you make it look so easy. Got the pattern so I’m going to watch your video and read the pattern to see if I can follow

Donna, this is beautiful and Thank You for always giving us such great tips as you explain how to do the pattern, stitching and ironing.
What a lovely bright easy quilt! Thanks for showing us!
Thank you Donna! You are an absolute sweetheart 🌹
I made it! It turned out great! Your tutorial really helped.

What a wonderful quilt! The pattern uses 3 simple blocks that make a magnificent complex look. Thank you for your wonderful tutorials. Yet another to add to my project list.
Perfect as always!! I, too, get excited when I see you’ve posted another tutorial. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

M encanto y muy bien la explicacion....gracias
Love the colors you picked out in you jelly roll. Thanks again for a great video Donna
This quilt is so beautiful😍😍😍
You break everything down and make it seem so easy. Love it.
Thank You . Your amazing videos help me understand the process of making beautiful quilt blocks.
You make quilt making look so easy
Donna I love your tutorials. And I have to say that the dry iron followed by the steam is one of the best helps for setting the blocks! Thank you so much. Keep up the great work.
I love all of your tutorials and you do such beautiful work! Love the way you "love tap" the camera with your fabric too!
So happy you're back with another tutorial! I just love them! You made such a beautiful quilt, I've been wanting to make a quilt with bright solid colors and this looks like a fun pattern! Your giveaways are so beautiful too! Thanks so much Donna!!
It's amazing how changing the colors makes a completely different quilt! Thank you for your very clear tutorials.
Awesome way to clear up some scraps! 😃👏🏻💕
Happy Quilting! 🧵
Thanks Donna-you are such a great quilt maker.
So happy to see another video from you.
Beautiful as always. Your tutorials inspire me to buy the pattern and start sewing.
I always look forward to your videos, and can’t wait for the next one!
Love all the quilts and colors choices that you have done so far. Great job easy to follow
Loving all the bright colors! Thank you
Once again a great tip filled tutorial 💖 The tip for finger pressing has helped my construction so much! Always start the day extra happy when I see you've posted a new video 🤗.
It was beautiful!
Absolutely fantastic!! I love the bright colours.
Great Tutorial. Thanks for taking the time to greet me when I was in your store in July. Love your methods and tutorials.
You made my day. Thank you. Very satisfying. Greetings from Amsterdam where it’s “really, really flat.”
Wow! Three-block layout! I've played with two-block variations, but never three. This one is interesting in that you reversed the background squares with the colors in the 9 patch which eliminated the circle illusion in the final layout. Curious!
You are an awesome teacher. I have learned so much from you!
this was fun ! look forward to a new tutorial every week!
What a beautiful pattern 😍Love it. Looks like an oriental rug.👏👏💐
Love your videos!! I know it's a whole lot of work for you and the team. Keep 'em coming! You're an inspiration to many quilters. ❤️
I've been considering that pattern for a while. It was great seeing you pick the fabric and put it together.
Beautiful as always Donna, thank you so much ☺️ 😍
Спасибо!обожаю ваши работы!супер понятно и хочется тоже воплощать
Ooohhh the borders!
Another beautiful quilt with easy instructions! Thank You!
I love it. You make it look so easy. I did notice on the pattern the the accent was surrounding the solid colour blocks not the 9 patch. It’s great to see both ways. Both ways look great
Always love to see you in action Donna..
Your nails are always so beautiful
I like the way it seems to form a secondary circular pattern, cool!
What a great quilt. I love the bright solids! Thanks for the awesome tutorial
Hello Donna Even if you don't take measurements, you're right, it's easy to follow the pattern even though I'm a beginner. Thank you!
I love your tutorials. You are a great teacher.
Another very lovely quilt. Of course, I would expect nothing less! Thank you so much for all the inspiration.

Gorgeous quilt and the colors are wonderful!
Such a beautiful quilt and the table runners are also pretty
I love your tutorials!! So clear and easy to follow. You make it look so easy and fun. 🌷💖
Putting the accent around the nine patch gave this quilt a different look. I like it!
I thought I was the only one who noticed! But I disagree - I liked the original layout better, on the pattern, as it gives a nice secondary pattern [I see circles]. This one confines the 9-patch and separates it from the other dots. I'm thinking Blues would be pretty...
Oh my goodness !!! That is beautiful !! You did an awesome job as always and the colors you chose really complement each other.
