  • I complain about the SnowRunner truck categories because there are so many trucks that are in weird places and none of the categories really fit the trucks in them, so I propose some alternatives...

    I feel that they need to reshuffle things.
    Scouts: vehicles that are actual scouts, the ones that can pull scout trailers, can't carry cargo onboard and are generally speaking relatively fast.
    Support: vehicles that primarily serve as support vehicles, like the Tatra 805, Acteon, Loadstar 1700. Basically scouts that can carry a significant amount of repair units or fuel or a single cargo unit.
    Highway: vehicles that are already in the highway category, so you can more conveniently ignore them. Low ground clearance, no diff lock, that kind of thing.
    Specialist: vehicles that basically do one thing and only that one thing. Like the Cat 745, 770, and 357. But also the tractors, the Forester and similar vehicles. Possibly the Sprinter, Tatarin, and Burlak.
    Vehicles that are currently in Offroad, Heavy Duty, and Heavy should be categorised by weight and drive train.
    Light: vehicles that weigh in at less than 10 tonnes. Subcategorised as 4x4, 6x6 etc. 4070A, ZiKS 5368, Step trucks.
    Medium: vehicles that weigh in at 10 to 16 tonnes. Again subcategorised by 6x6, 8x8 etc. Vorons, Taygas, Tatras.
    Heavy: vehicles that weigh in at 16 to 23 tonnes. Subcategorised by drivetrain. Azov 5, 6, and 7, DAN, M917, Navistar 5000, Longhorn 3194, TwinSteers
    Super Heavy: vehicles that weigh in at over 23 tonnes. Subcategorised by drivetrain, although that's not really that relevant here. Kolobs, 605R, Azov 42-20, Kenworth 963.
    Knowing what a vehicle weighs is surprisingly more relevant than people think. Because it allows you to make a better choice with regard to tyres, as a heavier vehicle is more likely to sink or dig down to solid dirt underneath the mud and snow.
    Also I feel like there should be a rebalance of which vehicles can mount which addons. It's kind of silly that the 605R can mount basically all addons, while the Kolobs cannot. By the same token it's silly to be able to fit a giant fuel tank on a tiny truck like the ZiKS 5368, which clearly can't handle it and should be getting the small fuel tank that the Acteon and 805 get.

      i generally agree, although i would say that subcategorisation by drivetrain is perhaps unnecessary as the vast majority of offroad, heavy and heavy duty trucks are either 8x8 or 6x6, the 4x4 category would be rather limited as the little offroad trucks like the actaeon and tatra 805 would end up in support, and the 10x10 category would only have two trucks. maybe the 4 wheelers and 6 wheelers could be put together and the 8 wheelers and 10 wheelers together idk.
      the addon situation is a whole separate issue which deserves it's own longer complaint video as it is complete random nonsense

    I totally agree. The categories are messed up, I want them to let us define our own categories.

    The solution to this problem is simple. They just needed to add two sub categories to each category and get rid of heavy duty all together. So you would have light and heavy trucks for each category and add a "Utility" category for vehicles like the forklift and crane.

    I am also with you.
    To be honest I have done my own categories using different colours, like unique , heavy scouts ,light scouts , only heavy trailers hauling, support trucks, heavy,super heavy,offroad heavy ,offroad light and some others I think .

    Because the various road's differ dramatically from any where to any where. One is mandated to utilize "A" truck of their particular choice, they believe can handle any and all type's of terrain.
    For example: I found the Mastadon such a truck, but then it being wider than other's couldn't make it through some of the more narrow area's. After having invested more that 3000 hour's in this game, there isn't one truck that is capable of finishing one trip, when the terran varies as much as it does. Thus when choosing a mission, I have to deliberately place truck's in various area's, and take the load off of one, and put it on another, and more than once, another. Meaning I end up every mission with numerious truck's along the path. Which when I start another mission, am mandated to move all the various trucks to other various position's and wait for the load to come to it and then switch the load. Which is some case's due to what the load consit of is impossible.

    The categories are definitely very odd. I always 'lose' trucks in my garage because I generally look at the offroad category for most purposes, and then I miss trucks like the Tatra T813, which is heavy, for… some reason I guess. It's more similar to the 8x8 Azovs than any other heavy trucks, except that its addon selection is kinda limited.

    The scout vs. rest are categorised based on the trailer they can take. Scouts either take no trailer or a scout trailer only.

      @sagerwraps9990 8 місяців тому +4

      That statement is categorically wrong. The F750 only takes big trailers and i am pretty sure one of the small offroaders can take big and small trailers.

    One of my biggest pet peeves in this game. The Western Stars are lighter than a lot of offroad trucks, on top of the missing offroad features you mentioned, yet their placed in the same category as the Pacifics and KOLOBs. Its something that doesn't affect anything gameplay wise, outside of bloating the inappropriate classes, but its right in your face when you're in the garage and you know its not right.
    GTA Online has the same issue with car classes. Every car usually gets tossed into the sports class, so you get scenarios like the Blista Compact being in the sports class, instead of the compacts class. This can affect gameplay though as the car class determines what group of cars can be taken into races.

    This is the result when games are developed by ignorant/unenthused people.
    Stupid errors, and a lack of consistency and realism from a technical/logical point of view IRL which can break the immersion.
    We would never have had this kind of error on Spintires / mudrunner.
    Unfortunately we find more and more of this kind of stupidity in “big” games.

      I wouldn’t call it boring, but it can be a chore. I’m on my first play through and sometimes when I see how far I have to drive for a mission, or to get something done, I just shut the game off. Kinda like it’s a big time investment. And life is very busy, spending an hour or two transporting something across 3 maps sometimes just doesn’t seem like a good way to spend your time. I play snowrunner in very short spurts. It’s hard for me to make a marathon of it.

      Not boring at all. It's the environment . The scenery is often gorgeous and the music is soothing. It's more like a virtual holiday if you're not struggling to play. On higher resolutions and big screens, it can be very immersive.

      So then what's the difference between Heavy and Heavy Duty trucks in the game? Are the Offroad trucks not heavy duty?

    • @maxburner3500
      @maxburner3500 8 місяців тому

      @@fermitupoupon1754 I have a similar opinion as Alynjones9513: the categories are meant to identify the trucks on stock configuration. The White Western Star is a good example: Its a heavy duty truck, that once modified is quite good for off-road. Regarding the Heavy vs Heavy Duty, I think is like this: Heavy Duty are trucks that can do everything, and Heavy are trucks designed for the biggest cargoes (saddle high) and not so much for anything else (most heavies don't have the same selection of frame add-ons as other categories). Yet, I do agree that maybe trucks should be re-categorize and be allowed to change categories according the modifications we apply. I personally, stopped caring about categories, but I do hope we can have a proper category system in a next update or the next game.
