Thanks this is absolutely brilliant stuff. I've played Snowrunner for thousands of hours now and I only knew one of those tricks (reversing with diff-lock on) but the rest I cannot believe I've never discovered.... especially the winching tricks and stacking trucks and trailers on top of cargo. And changing down going up a hill - would never have guessed that one! Time to start 'er up and test some of these out!
Hey Mike ! Thank you very much for the kind words . I know players who completed the game and all the dlc 3 times, and they are still learning about the game :) I'm glad you found it useful, and hopefully, you can implement these in your gameplay :)
Engine breaking is a handy tip to know of, and is one of the advantages of running Offroad/Fine Tune over Highway. But you're going down a steep incline, especially if it's also bumpy. You can sometimes keep better control by locking your vehicle into Low-. When using the brakes you can lock up the wheel causing a slide (which can actually get you to gain speed) and a roll over. (when your tires suddenly hook something). But Low- will keep you rolling along at a controlled pace and make it less likely you'll break traction.
The car packing on cargo is incredibly useful for hard mode. As for the cranes, you can deploy them before you traverse a suspicious slope you MIGHT tip over - preventively.
I love the detail in this game. The person who designed it either did lots of research or are trained recovery operators. The fact the winch loses power the shorter the rope gets is such a cool detail that only people with winch experience would know.
@@teleMenace yeah. On a drum winch the more rope you have on the drum means the winch is having to work harder as the rope is further out from the centre of the drum
About #4 tip: pressing the gear shifting key works differently whether you're holding the accelerator or not. When you get uphill or into a mud, you can release the accelerator for a moment, then pressing the gear shifting key -- the game immediately shifts your gear down to (as it seems) the suitable gear for the situation (often to the 1 or 2 in a mud, or a high gear on a highway) -- then you press the accelerator down again. Playing on PC with kb, but most things should probably work everywhere.
On pc with keyboard thats the SHIFT key. U dont have to release the accelerator atleast not on pc, just tap the SHIFT key and the truck will shift gear. On most trucks to quickly get up to speed u can use SHIFT to gain speed faster as instead of the game autoshift up 1 gear on itself u can tap the SHIFT key to skip 2 and sometimes even 3 gears when your own solid grounds.
Yes. If you are in hard mode, to save fuel and to power through most hills and roads at a higher speed, engage 4WD, get moving and shift into High gear. While this is not the fastest a truck can go, this will keep the momentum steady and use less fuel.
Pro tip if you're using wheel + pedals to play: you can tap the clutch to change gears. The game will automatically try to figure out which gear you should be in at the moment.
One more thing, about the engine start shortcut. For one, only 1 or 2 (of 4) gamepad control schemes supports this shortcut, and it will be different button combo or absent at all in other control schemes. For two, why do you need a button for turning on the engine, if it starts automatically as soon as you press the acceleration? Turning your engine off, however, can be useful for saving fuel.
Good tips! The cargo unpacking trick (which I discovered some time ago by pure accident) is very effective in certain situations, especially when you're carrying heavy cargo. I even tried it with logs, to get a truck & trailer unstuck from deep mud, and worked very well. Logs are risky, though: if they move too much when you unpack them, you may not be able to re-pack them. But as a last resort before giving up on a mission, sometimes it's worth trying. :-) Cheers! //Rick
One truck for logs if you keep them in the trailer is backing up to a building or tree a sign basically anything and getting them pushed back foreword to be repacked. But once they fall out it’s a RIP moment lol.
Great video. Small tip that may help people starting out without a lot of vehicles. You can use scouts to upright much larger vehicles. Trick is to wedge the scout against a tree/pole and be patient holding the winch button. I’ve done this with the scout 800 uprighting the P16. Bonus tip, the Khan 4-loaf has some weird kind of programming and it’ll just upright most anything in the game.
One thing I think new players should know when starting hardmode is when you pull up to a trailer for the first time, you "discover" it and get cash/xp. If you pull up AND NOTHING HAPPENS, it's part of a quest. Big tip when gathering fuel trailers on which are yours and which you need to leave at 10%+. Also, don't ever sell your old add-ons for vehicles. Keep them incase you sell the vehicle later and need to revert it back to stock. Always add the 3 stickers to a vehicle before you sell it for slightly more money, and if you do sell a vehicle, try to equip the VEHICLE SPECIFIC mods before selling. I always sold the Scout 800 right when I got it and never get the chance to sell the raised suspension. Early on in hardmode every dollar matters. Gathering the parts for the International highway truck and Scout, Kodiak, and GMC, before selling them is most efficient
@teleMenace about that same topic: If you never touched the trailer then when you accept and track the quest, you'll get this "it's somewhere in here" yellow circle on the map. If you move that trailer at anytime out of that circle, then it won't show on the map ever again. The only way you'll know if it's for a quest or not is to drive close to it and you'll see the magnifying glass icon on it but never on the map. I accidentally took a gas trailer to Island Lake that was part of a quest in Black River and brought a different (full) one back. So, it took forever for me to track it down and realize what happened.
This is a very good video for newcomers. I learned most of the tricks the hard way in this game :) Didn't know about the vehicles on top of cargo though. Only one I don't do is unpaking cargo to run lighter. I found this not really RP :) I prefer to start an assist expedition with a more powerfull truck if I really find no way to make my hauler progressing again.
Great video! ❤ Just one tip from me: When at high speed, cut the engine and coast in neutral. This has saved me from many situations where I am on red fuel.
2 - Only some cargo has different weight packed and not. 4 - This is the most important tip, you can also monitor fuel consumption. 8 - If the trailer flips over, the snowrunner is likely to crash. At least that was the case 3 seasons ago on PC
@Don_Mag well atleast on PC they have ;) just very recently, I rolled a semi with metal beams and two scouts on top, and it was fine . I'm not sure about consoles though
I swear I can't believe I just found these games! I love Death Stranding and simulator type games. This game hits all those notes for me too. So awesome! Excited to see what comes next for this series
Here's another trick that I often use, using low gear for sudden speed loss without losing control. Like goin downhill, you just pust the truck into low/low-, there's no jerking motion, no sideways sliding and it's even faster than normal braking imo, especially with a trailer in tow. Been using almost all of the tricks except for the ones that are console specific (pc player) for the crane flip because I haven't mastered the arts of that.
Driving is smoother if you hold acceleration and brake at the same time, release the brake to accelerate and release accelerator to brake, holding both at the same time will allow the truck to coast, this technique makes the truck more responsive.
Installing the snowrunner transmission helped me alot because it gives control over the low gear, being that the driver has no clue how to shift, putting it in Low 2 allows locked diffs as well as some decent wheel speed with no stalling out, the normal low gear without that it is Low 1 unfortunately which is pretty bad for anything but rock crawling as there is no wheel speed
Great tricks! I just don't like the unpacking cargo one, because it's an exploit. I'd rather bring a second truck or use my winch, than unpacking the cargo and thus making it lighter. The only exception when I transport unpacked cargo is overloading on top of the already packed layer. And only because you can't pack the cargo on every flat surface, like you can with vehicles and trailers.
Great tips I think many people who played for a while will know a few but I think most of those people will not know about a few of them.and for beginners almost all of these will be new great video telemenace.

Just pressing the auto gearbox button will force it to downshift if needed. It's pretty sad that cargo when unpacked weighs nothing. That means the extra cargo you put on top without packing doesn't affect weight either.

Hey Andy , the actual developers of the game said nothing about g29 not working , but loads of players are reporting it with no obvious solutions . Sorry buddy
For PC: 1. Crane flip: V+C; 2. Unpacking is the same: V for functions, then scroll the list: 3. Engine start/stop: B; 4. Down/uphshifting: Shift or whatever keybind you set yourself for the Auto (if you have the individual gears set to various buttons) - I use Numpad 5 for this; 5. Manual selection of winch points for cargo: even easier for us PC users, we can use a mouse; 6. Winching from the back: same; 7. Manual reverse: same controls, but shift with shift+arrows, or shift+mouse, or press the individual button for the reverse (Numpad 2 in my case) and then difflock (Q by default); 8. Packing on top of the cargo: same controls as for the cargo unpacking;

I'm working on a way to retrieve a trailer from the river...smh 😁😁
I just press drive forward and engine starts 😅
Tell me I'm Not the only who uses the gas to start an engine.?
How do you stop it ? Function menu ? Lb+a easier
Just bought this game and was using both the G29 wheel and pedals with the controller (PS5) everything was working great until I had to update the controller, now the wheel and pedals won’t work with it at all . . I’m Stumped 😤 Has anybody got any suggestions please .Many thanks 👍
Hey Andy , the actual developers of the game said nothing about g29 not working , but loads of players are reporting it with no obvious solutions . Sorry buddy
Hi. Thank you for your reply much appreciated . I will keep searching as to why it’s just stoped working.
All the best 👍😊
Didn't know about those things
Thx
Most Welcome !
You forgot the most important tip be gentle with rpms or you will lose traction
One tip from me:
When at high speed, cut the engine and coast in neutral. This has saved me from many situations where I am on red fuel.
Just play it on pc. Its a lot easier
I am playing on pc :)
So why do u use controller ? 😭 That's the biggest sin
Im a sinner then :D
@@teleMenacewell you shall buurnn 😂
NYSE AIDEXIA Fantastic👍👍👍👍
I use PC.
PC master race
I love how this video completely ignores PC users.
Well, I only play PC, and all the gameplay is a PC gameplay - so im not sure what you mean by that ?
@@teleMenace The controls...
Who plays this game with mouse and keyboard ? :D :D, and you can't possibly expect me to do controls for steering wheels
@@teleMenace I would use a controller but it has stick drift sooooo.
For PC:
1. Crane flip: V+C;
2. Unpacking is the same: V for functions, then scroll the list:
3. Engine start/stop: B;
4. Down/uphshifting: Shift or whatever keybind you set yourself for the Auto (if you have the individual gears set to various buttons) - I use Numpad 5 for this;
5. Manual selection of winch points for cargo: even easier for us PC users, we can use a mouse;
6. Winching from the back: same;
7. Manual reverse: same controls, but shift with shift+arrows, or shift+mouse, or press the individual button for the reverse (Numpad 2 in my case) and then difflock (Q by default);
8. Packing on top of the cargo: same controls as for the cargo unpacking;
first comment!
I love the new kennworth
Me: I doubt there's going to be a new thing in this video
The video: the first thing is something you've never thought to do quickly
I've used it if I am in the right scenario for before or after tipping, but I never thought of trying to deploy mid tipping
I did know everything else but these are all amazing tips I've had to tell Greenhorns as the Vet in the snowrunner groups I'm in
Definitely going to have to share this video and thanks for the part I didn't even know about
I'm happy that you found something useful :)
Thanks for sharing the video in advance 😀 Good luck in the muddy wilderness :)
Unbelievable that you have 8 tricks and I only knew 1 of them.... ONE !!! Fantastic stuff really 🫵🏽U rock
Oh man ! Im so glad you found this useful ! I appreciate the kind words !
Great video! ❤ Just one tip from me:
When at high speed, cut the engine and coast in neutral. This has saved me from many situations where I am on red/leaking fuel.
That is some pro advanced tip , Nathaniel :) Thank You :)
