    05/14 -- I went to Atlantic City with my friend Bryant R. for some Bluefish. We had a very decent day right next to the Harrah's Casino! Then, we moved to the jetty for some Multi-Species fishing.

    Nice video. Bluefish are what got me back into fishing when I lived in New Jersey. When I think of some of my best fishing memories it's me and my friends in high school not having a clue what we were doing, but still having a blast chasing those blues.

    Finally someone who keeps the bluefish catches. These actually taste very good when caught fresh, i never understood why so many people say it tastes terrible. Cooking it with veggies and sauce, the flavors actually come together quite nicely.

      NN067 Heh. Even though 90% of my fishing is freshwater, I tend to eat saltwater fish only. I can understand why many people wouldn't like Bluefish; however, they are delicious in my opinion! I guess to each his own... Tight lines, NN067!

    I eat 1+kg bluefish to 12kg ones. it needs to be really cleaned and if the blood is drained out totally makes it a really good fish for brazilian dishes. I fish them and get big ones. Big fight for minutes. One of my favourite catches.

    Do you fish with leaders? I use about a 15" piece of 40-60lb mono or fluorocarbon when casting for blues so they don't chop my baits off. Also, flukes may be the go-to for that area (it's amazing how the same fish prefer completely different baits from region to region in saltwater) but I would highly recommend gotcha plugs, they are excellent when you fish from an elevated position like that and blues absolutely love them. Good video!

    • @extremephillyfishing
      @extremephillyfishing  9 років тому +3

      Nolan Minor No, I do not use leaders for Bluefish (although, I know I should. Heh). Once again, I'll take up your advice and check out the gotcha plugs. I appreciate the support! Tight lines.

    • @extremephillyfishing
      @extremephillyfishing  9 років тому

      ***** There are different techniques for different types of lures. The one I used in the video is a Zoom Fluke on a 3/8 oz. jighead. After casting, I pretty much reel it in at a steady pace while twitching it a couple times every couple seconds.

    • @extremephillyfishing
      @extremephillyfishing  8 років тому +1

      +Kelliinez Lopez They are certainly good eating when fresh (as Andervt described) and also awesome as bait! I would recommend you to eat the ones between 2-5lbs, though -- harmless levels of heavy metals in them. If you eat the Bluefish that are 5lbs+, there may be too many heavy metals in them for your body to process. Needless to say, they are AWESOME when cooked on the spot! :) Tight lines, Kelliinez!

    what are the best bait for bluefishing

    • @extremephillyfishing
      @extremephillyfishing  9 років тому

      +Kevin Chhoeut That's a very complex question. I don't think that there is a "best bait" for Bluefish, and as a Multi-Species angler I would go with both live bait and lures! However, if you are planning on saving a couple bucks on the bait, then I would recommend metallic & resistant lures, so that you don't have to replace them every time a Bluefish crushes your bait! Personally, I like to use Zoom Flukes. Tight lines!

    I hope you can reply but do you have any tips for this place. Me and my family came here in the winter this year hearing good things about it. I didn't go here with the highest hopes since it was the first time fishing here. But like the parking was hell and confusing and the fishing wasn't good either. We got snagged with both of our rods right away. We went home disappointed but it won't be the last time we are gonna try here. Can you give advice or tips? You're half the reason I wanna try here again another day.

      Many Granados I was using a 3/8 oz. jighead with Zoom Flukes. I bought the Zoom Flukes in White Pearl and Bubblegum color, and I like to dye the White Pearl myself. That's why you see a light green and a chartreuse one in the video -- those were "homemade."

      Take I-76 east across the Walt whitman bridge all the way until it turns into NJ-42 south, stay on nj-42 south and take it all the way to the Atlantic City Expressway (toll road) East all the way to Atlantic City. The spot is in atlantic city, look on google maps, the road on that bridge he is next to is called Brigantine Boulevard. Also right next to Gordon Ramsay Steak and Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City. Also, alternatively, if you live more center city or north, take the ben Franklin Bridge to nj which will bring you on i-676 south, and then take that to i-76 east, then NJ-42 south, and etc.

      MrGb4ever That day my friend and I actually parked in the Harrah's Casino Parking lot and walked there. It was like a five minutes walk and the parking was $5. But then, a lot of local anglers park at the parking lot right next to it, even though it says "authorized personnel only." They tell me that nothing ever happens to them down there; however, I would still not risk it.

  • @devilkicln

    If I'm planning on landing that thing by lifting it up, I would go with 30lb test at least. 12 is too low and chances of losing the fish is a lot higher.

    • @extremephillyfishing
      @extremephillyfishing  9 років тому

      devilkicln As I have mentioned in the video, the cost of changing to a lighter rod is the fact that the chances of losing the fish are higher. I would still go with 12lbs Fluorocarbon, though (but that's just my personal preference). If I were really serious about landing the fish, though, I would have a net with me. Heh. There is a little rocky place to the left of where I was fishing where you can actually net the fish. Tight lines!

      thesteveus Yeah, in the outer banks we call blues in the 10-20 lb range choppers. They are great fighters and very tasty! What do you use for bait? I usually use cut mullet but people use Hopkins spoons also. When they are feeding you could probably cast a bare hook and catch one.

    • @thesteveus
      @thesteveus 8 років тому +1

      +Stephen Loflin
      Best bait I find are pilchards (called mulies here in the west) they are pretty much a sardine type fish that you put on whole using 3 hooks ganged together, most lures work well with poppers being a favourite.
