Think this game is so divided and controversial because a lot of people still struggle to like see the other perspective. If we started the last of us playing as abby, people wouldve loved abby. But since we started as ellie and joel, people got a bias towards joel. Just like how in real life many people got a bias towards their friends
People will always have a problem with stuff. If you started playing as Abby, people would complain "but wheres my daddy Joel 😥". They actually already do that. The tutorial of the game is done as Abby. Of the many people I have watched, about half complain that they're playing as Abby for only like an hour.
@@robbob5258 oh yes youre right, but i mean if we started as abby in last of us 1 aswell
While I see the point you're making i think the challenge or some of the point of the game is to test if you can understand and have empathy for someone even after they do something awful from our perspective. The writers knew everyone would hate abby because we know nothing about her, there's a good lesson in it, one pov she is big evil murderer, the other she is avenging her dad, the games structure is necessary I feel
I completely understand abbys POV and the game trying to make us like abby but I will admit I am bias towards joel because we had a full game where we put ourselves in his position and get to know and love him, but I fully understand abbys character and I'm not one of those 'abby haters'
Commenting mid-video, but since you brought it up a couple of times already: they are showing us Abby's side in full (including flashbacks) not because they want us to intellectually know what has happened but to make us know her as a person (and her friends to some extent). We wouldn't care about her or her story if we didn't feel like we know her. We can have empathy for someone without knowing them, sure, but the creators of this game wanted a greater impact. So intellectually knowing the whats and the whys versus feeling and living through the events and their reasons. 👌
You not only being interested but actually excited to learn about the Scars and see the story humanize them is exactly why this channel is so great! I love watching people get invested in the story and have such an open mind to it, esp when they entertaining as hell like you. Happy new year, love your reactions!
51:10 owen’s motivations when it comes to supporting and aiding abby really boils down to the fact he’s still in love with her, as well as the fact he’s shown to be very self-sacrificing. he’s willing to forfeit his own moral values to hunt down joel with abby because he loves her and he saw firsthand the pain her dad’s death caused her. they’re in an unbreakable bind and entangled in tragedy together, it’s difficult for either of them to truly break away.
My favorite thing is the different play styles between Abby and Ellie. Ellie is more stealthy and dexterous, which incentivizes stealth and hit and run tactics, and you'll notice that Abby's build and gear incentivizes much more aggressive gameplay. Having those two different play styles kept things interesting for me.
Also Jeffrey Wright is so amazing as Isaac.
4:59 you killed that dog on the way to the hospital as Ellie
Your point about being forced to kill dogs was something they thought about actually. Every single combat encounter with dogs, you don't have to kill any of them, with the exception of Alice as Ellie falls out of the vent in the aquarium.
I just finished your last video a minute ago and was sad that theres no more to watch. Imagine my excitement right now.
Update, finished this episode and now I'm sad all over again ✌️

About your Abby vs Ellie thoughts in the beginning of the video. Abby was willing to do in Jackson what Ellie did in Seattle, Owen said to Abby "They will not give that information" and Abby said "We'll make them". Abby got lucky that she met Joel while scaping the infected and led him to their group. Abby and Ellie for me are the same.
Yes, Abby was willing to go through Jackson people to get info because of her love for one person, but Abby and Joel are the same as Joel went through the Fireflies for one person and grew after meeting someone.
Ellie is more like Joel Pre-Ellie and Pre-Jackson, than Abby.
Joel had Tess but Tess didn't change him, Ellie did
Abby had Owen but Owen didn't change her, Lev did

Ellie had Dina but Dina didn't change her and JJ didn't either.
Abby and Ellie are on the same journey. Abby's just (literally and figuratively) a few steps ahead on the path.
@@TahoeNevada
How can Abby be 'just a step ahead'?
Owen didn't change her but combining him with meeting Lev and change happened.
Ellie had Dina and JJ, yet nothing.
That isn't a step ahead.
A step ahead would be Ellie hadn't been given the same beats. But she was and didn't take the same path.
Will say in solidarity with your username, as a Galena Grizzly Grad: Go Wolf Pack.
@ChibiHoshiDragon Ellie had to [REDACTED] to change.
The games are all about finding purpose. Joel found purpose raising Ellie.
Abby found her purpose. Hint: It wasn't revenge
Ellie didn't find purpose in revenge either.
@@TahoeNevada
Spoilers are given in this reply of a reply of a reply...
Not exactly. Yes, no one found purpose in revenge. But Ellie changed after having a different path and a different beat. Not the same path just behind Abby.
Joel and Abby had the same beats. They were the ones on the same path, not Abby and Ellie.
Ellie's path was the same but it didn't do the same thing, It wasn't just behind Abby's. Ellie's path deviated from Joel and Abby's.
The path for Joel and Abby was loss, then hate, then finding their purpose in caring for another person.
Ellie didn't follow the same path, her path had her suffer lose, hating and caring too and yet nothing changed her. Hence though on the same general path as Abby, it wasn't the same path just a step behind it.
Joel and Abby lost someone they thought was their purpose to care for. Sarah was Joel purpose as his daughter and Jerry was Abby's purpose as she got the flack from the fireflies and she felt she was his keeper. Abby was parentified.
Joel, on the other hand, wasn't Ellie's purpose. She believed Joel took away her purpose. So what looks on the surface to be the same path, isn't.
Ellie didn't have to find a purpose, she had to let go of what she believed was her purpose.
Not only that but Ellie had to come to terms with learning to forgive herself for not forgiving Joel when she could.
Her revenge wasn't about losing Joel, it was about losing the chance to forgive him.
Joel did what he did because he loved and couldn't live without Ellie. Joel had to learn to forgive the world and find his purpose in caring for another.
Abby did what she did because she loved her father. She had to find her purpose in caring for Lev.
Ellie did what she did because she felt guilty at not forgiving Joel. Her revenge was not for Joel's life, but for Abby taking away the chance to forgive him when she could.
Her path was about letting go of her purpose and hence her reason for not forgiving Joel, and forgiving herself for not forgiving Joel.
Totally different paths.
Happy new year bro!! So good to see the growth on your channel. I srsly think you could hit 100k this year
Dude you are really smart and critical the way you approach the game and the story, not every person can do that, good job👏🏻.
I cared way more about Abby's story then Ellie's if Im gonna be honest
👎
nah my loyalty was always with ellie I couldn't help it
In the second game, maybe and only maybe because it was new and adventurous. But Ellie's story deeply rooted from the first game? No way, no how.
On first playthrough it was all hate for Abby ngl I even let her die a few times before I realized I had to play as her for longer than a flashback lol. However on repeat plays I definitely empathize more with Abby and Lev and it was even uncomfortable playing as Ellie and seeing her be as violent as she was. All in all I’m mad that my boy Jessie got fucking offed like nothing. RIP Jessie
Finally been waiting for this lol COUNTER! UNCE!
Happy New Year brodie now chop chop with a new episode
6 days ago: TLOU2 is a TERRIBLE game.
Today: TLOU2 is a MASTERPIECE
Your clickbait’s are perfect dude I love it 😂
the ellie strays are taking me oooout lmfaoooo🤣🤣🤣
You hit the nail on the head when you say the game makes it hard to hate or like any one person. It shows you that people are complicated. We all have good and bad.
Happy new year bois we made it. Great video bro keep it up! Love the energy and the editing man you’re gonna go far
ey entertaining as hell 😂anticipation like a tv show
babe wake up, new banger dropped
55:45 I loved how you got into right mood there😂😂😂I was like that too, abby was badass😅.
Bro was talking about not liking to kill animals at the beginning.. A couple minutes later, shooting horses dead😭
Get ready for the boat scene dude
Bro I think it’s important to remember that Abby didn’t just kill Joel she killed him after he saved her and risked his own life for her
Imma be honest, I don't think that matters
All (most) of those bodies in the bodybags are the people Ellie, Dina, Jesse, and Tommy killed.
Which caused Isaac (Jeffrey Wright) to activate the FOB, and launch an attack on "Scar Island"
Fighting the stalkers in the woods was the single most frustrating part of the game. I rage quit probably 30 times. I hate it so much. I never considered lowering the difficulty level as much. 😂
you aren't a real gamer then
Your reactions are real bro. I think a lot of people felt similar about those flashbacks, but if you really invest yourself in the story and characters you find why it matters
Notice how Mel, Jordan, Owen are actively avoiding Abbie since Jackson?
"I haven't seen you in weeks" or "Haven't seen them since Jackson" etc.
They were taken aback by what she did to Joel.
You're so real about the animals lmao I purposely made my gameplay hard to not kill them 💀
16:13 keep pressure on the wound and keep the wound raised above the heart to slow the bleeding. (Nurse haha)
Lmao thanks for the info I’ll use it wisely 🫡
@@SteeleStrife😂
AT 1:00:04 WHEN YOU CAME FOR ELLIE I DIED
FOB means Forward Operating Base, basically a homebase. Also, it's hard to listen to Mel knowing she's Ashly Birch, who voiced Tiny Tina and Aloy.
I just wanna point out, the dodge button its directional, you can choose how to dodge at any time.
This game helps you much more to be empathic than a year of therapy
What you’re describing as an open world game where enemies can show up anywhere and it’s random and enemies will keep spawning is Days Gone. Such a fun game. Open world Zombie Apocalypse
A new year and new banger from my glorious king🤌🏾😭
another fye upload
When i my fyp needed him most he arrives
51:26 it's cause he loves her!
Hope you had a happy new years!
42:30 I lost a grounded permadeath run there because my controller broke
bro i clicked on this video so fast💀

11:49 BRO I DIED LAUGHING AT THIS SHIT JESUS
Abby isn't actually THAT big. The camera is more zoomed into her similar to Joel. When shes next to Owen sbd others, you realize she's probably like 5'8. Ellie is just small and petite.
You made a valid point. It's true that Abby's group made sure they only took out Joel and spared everyone else. Personally when I played the game I didn't have a problem with The Abby character. If anything I found myself going off Ellie and was trying my hardest to take her down when I was fighting her in the theatre. I hated that the game gave Ellie plot armor. For all the people Ellie killed I didn't buy Abby sparing her. Abby sparing her showed Abby as being the good guy and that's what a lot of people hated about the game. I didn't hate the game or even dislike it, I just didn't love it like I loved the first game. I probably played last of us more than 10 times on the ps3 and a few times on the ps4 pro but I only played the sequel once from beginning to end.
friendly reminder that lev is a little guy, ppl often mistook him for a girl. but he's a boy :)
Actually Lev is a transgender boy who was born biologically female and given the name Lily. He decides to live as a boy, which conflicts with the strict traditions of the Seraphite (Scar) cult he belongs to. When Lev shaves his head-a symbolic act of rejecting the Seraphite gender roles-he is punished by the Seraphites and exiled. The name “Lev” is his chosen name, reflecting his true identity.

@syaeen5953 dude i know. im transmasc and it just upsets me whenever ppl find out about the story of him being trans, they start to see him differently just bcs he's an AFAB and refer him as a girl instead of the boy that he wants to be. his story is very personal to me. i've been a fan of this game for a while okay, i know my stuff.
@ Hey, I totally get where you’re coming from, and I’m really sorry you’ve had to deal with that. It’s frustrating when people can’t respect someone’s identity, especially when it’s such an important part of who they are. Your connection to his story is valid and meaningful, and it’s clear you care deeply about this. Keep being an awesome fan and advocate-you’re helping make a difference just by speaking up about it🌷
1:00:02 why u disrespect Ellie like that 😭
Is it bad that I don’t think Mel is a badass for actively choosing to be on the frontlines while pregnant? I thought she was cool but kinda dumb for putting their unborn baby in that type of danger.
Or she's doing this because she's having doubts about Owen and their relationship. She mentions not having seen him for weeks, him picking up open assignments, basically being avoidant. By putting herself in danger she's testing the limits of his apathy towards her, and is desperately trying to get his attention.
“Except for manny”, “everyone is dead except for manny”… 🫵😂
Yo don't do that, let him explore the game
@joana8615 he already finished the game, he confirmed it on a discord he runs
Why am i feeling like u have played this game before? Or u had spoilers, i don't know. Maybe you're just good at guessing? Anyway, been watching you play from the beginning, can't wait to watch next part, please upload it sooner.
I’d love for you to play life is strange if you haven’t, or Detroit become human, but the last of us will always be my favourite
yayyyyy new episode
day 16 of asking Strife to play Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty
You have now started playing The Last of Us 2. The best parts of the game are ahead.
OTS!
You killed both dogs you’ve interacted with in this vid as Ellie my boy sorry… you killed bear entering the hospital and you killed Alice right before you killed Owen
Hot take - one of the things that did actually affect my enjoyment of Abby's storyline (at least until Lev and Yara show up - who are my fav characters) is that... I just really didn't like Owen as a person. He was just an asshole, and his dry, sarcastic wit and his handling of the Mel situation just further made me angry at him. I don't blame Neil and Halley for writing him that way, because he IS very realistic. I just did not like him. Kudos to the kid from Almost Famous for playing him so well though.
Wait! Didn’t you call this game ass? Team Abby. Joel F’d the planet
W
10:10 explain this random stain??
Bro it’s a tide pod I’m so fr
the true villain of this story is Neil Druckmann
DONT WATCH THE BOAT SCENE
Abby lost what she deserved, joel was everything to eli. So its only fitting abby loses everything to her.
Why play a game where the character lets the hero/villain? Go in the end lmfao the story is so fucking dumb
What did the game teach
Revenge is bad
But not for Abby
Ellie fights through to get her lets her go
Lives her life with her lady just to leave it all again to find the chick she let go
Finds her they both enjoy a mud bath before saying goodbye AGAIN
LEAVING ELLIE WITH NOTHING
DONT WATCH THE BOAT SCENE
