This game is so much better on Survivor or higher (though imo, Survivor is best), the game is a completely different experience. That said, I don't think you are ready for that. GL with your channel and nice choice in your game selections.

The way cordyceps works on ants is that it attacks their brains. They know exactly what's going on, but are powerless to stop anything. Those humans are still aware but have no control. Also, the amount of times you've gotten away with bum rushing MFs is absurd

The main villain in this game, Khotun Khan, is a cousin to the current Mongol emperor, Kublai Khan. Kublai Khan was the grandson of Genghis Khan. Khotun Khan himself is fictional character, I believe. But that dynamic of relatives wanting to vie for power is most likely a real dynamic of that time in the Mongol Empire.
