It works so well but can be so hard too. You don’t realize how that giant rectangle of light directly in your face messes with you until you stop for a few nights.
Ok matt..you need to do this more often 😂idk if someone has ever complimented you or not but...your voice is soooo sootthhiinnggg.. MORE VOICEOVERS PLEASE ❤️
as someone with crippling insomnia due to genetics and PTSD from my time in service, i try to keep as much of a routine as possible. sometimes i don’t go to bed at the same time every night, but i will try to turn off all my electronics an hour before i know i’m curling up in a ball on my bed. i also have things in my routine that are designated for sleepy time - for example, i have this brown rice green tea that i ONLY drink at night. i think something about that kind of association of “this is my sleepy time tea” helps my brain wind down. i deal with overactive thoughts a lot, and when it’s night time, it’s hard to ignore them when i’m just laying down not doing anything - so i give myself something not super stimulating to do, to keep my brain occupied without fully waking me up. so i like to read recipe books on my kindle, or i’ll play some rain noises - my favorite background noise for sleeping is from the self care app finch - i really recommend it if you struggle with anxiety, keeping a routine, etc. not sponsored obviously LOL. it also has good meditations and breathing exercises that i can do while i’m at work. that helps a lot. lastly, i think the best piece of advice i can give, is that it’s okay to not be okay. sometimes we struggle too much to try to be happy or perfect, to be mentally stable, when in reality it’s… hard, you know? lately i’ve realized i’ve not had a good day in… months. it’s hard to realize that every single day, i have come to the conclusion that today was NOT a good day. that i’m NOT doing okay. that i’m depressed and anxious and struggling. and that’s okay. it’s okay to not be okay. life has ups and downs. i’ll likely never be NOT depressed. i’m scarred from my life experiences. but i’m alive. and i have a cat, who means the world to me, and i can say from the bottom of my heart that he’s the reason i’m alive today. curling up at night with my cat keeps me going. it makes me want to wake up in the morning - he’s gotta get food at 7 am, after all. as a fellow cat dad, i’m sure you understand the sentiment. it’s okay to not be okay. you’ve got things to stick around for, as do i, and that helps me sleep at night. hope this was coherent enough 😅😅 love your content man! you’re a light in this dark world.
I thank you for your service! I hope you have a great day up ahead. You're a great person and I hope people like your cat find you, because you are a gem! Keep on grinding!
Thank you for your service. Your own routine is really good advice. Something I should try because I have a really hard time getting to sleep but that's because I don't have a routine. As for your Kitty, you sound like a great cat dad. It's amazing how those little guys can be life saving. Cheers my friend. Have a great day
Get 20min sunshine/vitamin d first thing in the morning and try to watch the sunset. Take theanine or decaf green tea before bed. Should really help your sleep cycle.
I started putting on “relaxing sounds/music” on UA-cam the background when I’m laying in bed. It has helped, and then I take a melatonin 15 min before laying down. Although I know we shouldn’t take it every night, i started taking it just to kind of get myself in that routine of falling asleep on time. And it’s worked so far.
On my tv not on my phone. I play it pretty low to so it’s not loud at all. Sometimes we just need some background noise to help relax. And this is coming from someone who struggled to get 4 hours of bedtime. It’s working now. 8pm-4am.
I make tortilla chips all the time at my job. Salt and fresh squeeze lime juice for me, make sure you don't leave the chips in too long or they will start absorbing the oil and taste kind of funky. Edit: It shouldn't take longer than a minute to fry, with the oil at 375.
Tips for more sleep: Stretching before bed, A warm bath or shower (not hot but warm), Loosely fitted clothes to help with air circulation, Keeping the temp in your bedroom down, anywhere from 60-65 °F, Some melatonin no more than 5 mg and not too frequent (don't want to build up a tolerance) if you want you can take 10 mL of tart cherry juice instead. Magnesium L-Theronate (recommend daily does says 3 pills per serving I usually just do about 1 or 2)
If you're still hitting the gym move your workouts to evening time, used to lift at 5:30 am and be tired all day now I do 6pm and it helps me fall asleep consistently
Go to bed by 8:30p... start waking up at 3:30a.. you'll feel way better, trust! And you have more time in the day. Since I left a priv chef assistant job which put me to bed at 2am... I started working at 5a which I would wake up at 3:30a. I warm up, workout and shower first. I dont even feel that tired feeling, but I do around 8:30p, I try to be KOd by 9p. Be intentional and discipline your body. Another thing, I make myself sleep earlier and wake up without an alarm now.
I love the voice overs! I think they're incredibly relaxing to watch/listen to. As for sleeping tips: If it's falling asleep you're struggling with, what helps me a lot is replaying the events of the day in my head, but sort of fast forwarding it - like you're watching it happen on a record player. Another thing you could try, if your brain is still too active to sleep, write down what's on your mind. It doesn't have to be detailed, just the bare minimum to get it out of your head and can think about it the next day! I don't know a lot about if you're struggling with staying asleep, but if you have a very old mattress, you could maybe look into getting a new one. I got a new one a couple of weeks ago, after sleeping on the old mattress of my grandpa's guest bed (over 10 year old mattress) for the better part of two years and I have never slept better!
sleep stories knock me right out.. also ocean sounds. warm milk and something carby right before bed... half a peanut butter sandwich is great even better if you put cherries on it lots of good sleepy vitamins in those.
I have sleep issues too so no advice there but I will say that the voice overs are pretty cool. You've done videos on gluten free food in restaurants and you occassionally make vegan dishes. Could you do a voice over on the first time you encountered vegan food and what you thought about it?
Something I never would've thought of, saw a video of some swedish people talking about how they air out their duvets/comforters outside. Dunno how long for (probably for hours), I didn't have anything to hang mine so I just went outside with it and aired it out for about 10-15 mins. Relaxed me immediately when I laid down with it, definitely makes a difference. I wanna try leaving it out for longer, it was so comfy 😁 Edit: Basically fanning the comforter/sheet/whatever like opening a garbage bag. Hope this helps
If you have trouble sleeping, try eating a banana or drinking warm milk. If this doesn't work, try sleeping the opposite way (put your pillow at the foot of the bed and sleep) I usually knock out once I do this.
They say warm milk also I forget camomile tea I believe. Or buda herb if you catch me drift haha. only kinda kiddin it has to be certain strains though or else it might make you a little more energetic but baked Buda herb treats always make tired and sleep well, and its easy to make firecrackers( put herb in peanut butter and on saltine crackers wraped in foil bake and there you go) even those strains other strains when cooked put me to sleep. Don't hit it too much if not baked cause that'll keep you up youll be unable to sleep if its good stuff. A lil bit goes a long way. Eating it takes anywhere from 30 min to an hour and a half to feel it, even 2 hours depending on body type or what was eaten prior.
Tip to get more sleep: if you go to sleep by 9 or 10pm it basically gives you an extra 3 hours of sleep, even if you wake up super early. And between the hours of 9pm-2am, your body is basically repairing itself. So if you’re asleep during that time, you’ll feel well rested. My homeopathic friend taught me this 😬. She also said try to be asleep by the time 11pm hits for this recovery, so go to bed by 10 at least, if you must. If you’re having a hard time falling asleep, no caffeine in the afternoon, take multivitamin, Maca herb might also help, and if none of that works, start working out or doing more strenuous, longer workouts. Hope this helps!
Tip for sleep: going to sleep with something in your stomach. Ive been having issues getting to sleep myself and I often fond it is because of my intermittent fast. I cant go to sleep without something in my stomach so Ill eat a light snack like cucumbers or bell peppers or some fruit. Sometimes even pancakes or something.
Matt try this SLEEP recipe. 2 tbs apple cider vin 2 T honey. 12 oz hot water make a tea. (Personally I use about heavier amounts) Then just Hit the bed without your phone & it’s light out
Try to go to bed at the same time, and try to wake up at the same time everyday, that helps pretty well. Also when you sleep, your body constantly switches between light sleep, deep sleep, and REM sleep, this cycle usually lasts for about 90 minutes. So you can get better sleep if you wake up at the end or start of these cycles. If you wake up from deep sleep, you will feel tired, whereas if you wake up from light sleep, or REM sleep, you feel way less tired. I tried these things myself, and they work for me, but it may not be the case with everyone. I hope I could help. :)
Look up the military sleep method. Works anywhere anytime and you don’t need to change any habits to fall asleep faster. Just choose when you wanna sleep and you be asleep in 5 minutes.
i used too be in your boat where i used too sleep at 3am i changed mt diet warm milk helps or and changing your sleeping time i changed my from 3am till 10 or 11pm
The best advice I got for sleeping issues cause I have complete insomnia one best purchase is a sound machine or you can do a meditation thing on your phone for free tea or or milk or whatever it is people say some people believe in have hot chocolate, no screen time an hour before bedYep by now there’s the torture if you have a lot on your mind, keep a pen and paper beside your bed or you can use your phone just for the notes section
I started wearing a Fitbit, tracked the quality of my sleep noticed even though I thought I was getting 8-9 hours of sleep I was only technically getting 4-5 that actually counts as quality sleep 😂😂
Don't just increase sleep, but also improve sleep quality. 1. Excercise 1 hour before sleeping 2. Take a cold or warm shower after exercising and 30 min before sleeping (warm immediately makes me sleepy, but cold makes me sleepy after a while. I like cold more because I like to settle in) 3. Limit screentime 30 min before sleep and start getting relaxed. 4. Drink a glass of warm water and do some light stretching or meditate or read a book in those 30 min 5. Get a good bed 6. Be consistent, same time same period every time 7. Find the most optimal sleeping time (I wake more consistently at 8h40m of sleep. 9h is too much, 8 is too little. Maybe also because I am then in my lightest phase of sleep which is phase 1)
Don't nap during the day, check off your to do list as much as you can, exercise in the evening, socialize so you don't get lonely at night and stay up
tips on get more sleep, you dont need to sleep unless you are sleeping, you can sleep while awake, notice that your exitance, you, what you are, here, is completely silent let complete silence guide it, I cant explain anymore in words
Take ZMA’s, exercise and drink a sleepy time tea. I don’t know exactly what’s in the tea blend, but I believe it’s from the peppermint family. Helps me with sleeping consistently and deeply. Love the content and hope your sleep improves!
Exercise, hydrate as much as you can, learn how to breathe to reduce anxiety and stress (inhale for 4 seconds through your nose hold it for 5 seconds and exhale from your mouth for 8 seconds pretend you're breathing through a straw) reduce alcohol consumption and nicotine, try to have a consistent sleep schedule, and DO NOT NAP DURING THE DAY! That's all I got! Hope you get some rest Matt thanks for the great content!
On another note, try to find the reason why you can't sleep. When you have trouble sleeping it's usually due to something that's happening around your life. Be proactive not reactive. In other words if you're really stressed out consider taking a break and some time for yourself. Stop and smell the flowers and remember to breath.
TIPS FOR SLEEP: Disclaimer, it will take 30-40 days. 1. The goal is to sleep. Remember it is a GOAL. 2. Goals are accomplished by healthy habits. It take 30-40 days to build a new habit. 3. Do not rely on motivation, rely on discipline. 4. Discipline is aided by schedules: timing and quick notes. 5. Detox on dopamine/cut back on stimulation 2hrs prior to your desired sleep time. No matter the complexity of your thoughts, a busy mind must be tired out. The best way is to stretch it out by means of mental yoga. 5a. Read 5b. Gentle music 5c. Meditation. Be with yourself, give the subconscious time to be with the conscious mind and together they go into sleep with ease. 6. Adjust the temperature of your home to a colder temp. It helps set the mind and body to rest. Stay consistent and focused on this goal. I hope this helps.
Try to go to sleep and wake up at the same time everyday you will be tired at first but will adapt… also nose breathing works wonders mouth breathing can really affect your quality of sleep
Yo tortilla chips i make them nowadays a lot for me and my roommates but about the sleeping tho i am living on 3 hours of sleep each day for past week so if y'all know how to sleep more cause I'm having issues getting more than 3 hours of sleep 😭
You love right above my home state and your state has good stuff too , you know what I’m talking about find a spot that sells melatonin mixed with thc a small dosage will put you out !
I recently had an exam so I followed a strict schedule on sleeping which really worked : -3 hrs before sleep finish your dinner -2 hrs before sleep wrap up ur work -1 hr before sleep reduce screen time and have a glass of warm milk Other things to do to increase ur sleep quality: - try going to bed around 10 (if that seems too difficult, then try to sleep by max 11) (if this is regular you won’t even need an alarm to wake up around 7 in the morning)(keep a backup alarm just in case tho) - disconnect from everything and get in your bed early if you dont already - if you have any worries, try to think you ll worry about them tomo and the only think which matter now is that I relax (most of the time it works) - for most people 7+ hours of sleep is enough don’t have to hit exactly 8 hours. So what I do is if my eyes open 15-20 before my backup alarm, I dont think that ohh I have more time to sleep, I ll try to get up. Coz if you try to sleep again your body clock starts another cycle of sleep which can last around 90 mins and you may feel irritated if you wake up in the middle of that. The other perk of this is that you don’t oversleep (which leads to not feeling sleepy at night around the right time) I know it seems a bit long but once you get it it’s really simple! Hope this helps 😁
Also keep phone and any devices at least like15 ft away (10 might be ok depends on the person, but they've found emf is actually disruptive to up to like 15% of people's sleep who knows maybe more!) I know I sleep better without devices near my noggin at the very least lol
Don’t use your phone one hour before you go to bed, helps a lot with clearing your mind
yes 🙌 this makes a *huge* difference for me
It works so well but can be so hard too. You don’t realize how that giant rectangle of light directly in your face messes with you until you stop for a few nights.
Easier said then done
Also do more during the day
Can I read books?

Citric acid and sumac is a game changer. It’s so good
Sumac is pretty tart on its own. Wouldn't citric acid dial it up even more?
start listening to sleeping sounds but be aware you wont be able to sleep without veryy quickly💀😅

I love the voice overs! I think they're incredibly relaxing to watch/listen to. As for sleeping tips: If it's falling asleep you're struggling with, what helps me a lot is replaying the events of the day in my head, but sort of fast forwarding it - like you're watching it happen on a record player. Hi Matt, just wondering what do you do with the leftover oil?
No coffee After 12-Drink milk at 22, sleep a 23 bruh
kinda meditate? be mindful and try letting you mind go before u sleep for 5-10 minutes, try to relax in the dark, mb it could help
what's the bombest casserole you've ever made?
I'd be interested to see you explain how citric acid makes chips and dip taste better. What flavor does it add?
It makes your mouth water, and makes it so you salivate more, but they also add a nice sour taste
Valerian root buddy. It helps
Just use plain salt to season. I perfer the earthly flavor from the tortillas when deep fried with just a sprinkle of salt.
TIPS FOR SLEEP:
Disclaimer, it will take 30-40 days.
5a. Read
5b. Gentle music

For the sleeping: Sleeping pills
I recently had an exam so I followed a strict schedule on sleeping which really worked :
-3 hrs before sleep finish your dinner
-2 hrs before sleep wrap up ur work
-1 hr before sleep reduce screen time and have a glass of warm milk
Other things to do to increase ur sleep quality:
- try going to bed around 10 (if that seems too difficult, then try to sleep by max 11) (if this is regular you won’t even need an alarm to wake up around 7 in the morning)(keep a backup alarm just in case tho)
- disconnect from everything and get in your bed early if you dont already
- if you have any worries, try to think you ll worry about them tomo and the only think which matter now is that I relax (most of the time it works)
- for most people 7+ hours of sleep is enough don’t have to hit exactly 8 hours.
The other perk of this is that you don’t oversleep (which leads to not feeling sleepy at night around the right time)
I know it seems a bit long but once you get it it’s really simple! Hope this helps 😁
Get some nac supplement matt it really helps
Yeah I could use some tips on sleeping better too, matt
Also keep phone and any devices at least like15 ft away (10 might be ok depends on the person, but they've found emf is actually disruptive to up to like 15% of people's sleep who knows maybe more!) I know I sleep better without devices near my noggin at the very least lol
