    I have always loved landing at Logan. I am going to miss those blue skies now that I moved out of state.

    Very cool. That approach goes right over my home airport KBVY. It's always cool to see the big boys lined up overhead when I'm tooling around in a Cessna! 😂

      @@timxiong7891 We saw the 346 here at IAD all summer. But now it has been replaced with the 744, probably until next year summer.

    It was my go-to airport for ten years when I lived in Southern Maine. Can't say I ever had a smooth takeoff or landing there, but it was always interesting!

    Very nice video, thanks for sharing. On your next video (departure from Boston), your camera is located differently, thus showing the instruments as well as the view out the front window. Being able to see the instruments (like ground speed etc) enhances the viewing and learning experience for me. Happy Holidays!

    Nice video, thanks. You mentioned that it is the first time the FO has landed the A346. What about the simulator? Do you require simulator training for the 346 if you are already familiar with the 330 or 343?

    • @PapaPadde
      @PapaPadde  3 дні тому +3

      Thank you!
      You are correct, we train in the simulator before flying the aircraft itself and so did the FO before this flight. It was his first landing in the real thing! ;-)
      It is required to do simulator training (and checking) regularly on every variant we are licenced to fly.

      The A330, A343 and A346 have many similarities including the FBW flight control system, so only a few days' 'difference' training is usually required to make the transition between types within the same aircraft family.

    wonderful video, is it standard to disconnect the autothrottle that far out on the approach, or was it for FO training purposes

    • @PapaPadde
      @PapaPadde  День тому

      Thank you! He disconnected the autothrust beacuse he was disconnecting the autopilot as well. Our companies policy is to use manual thrust whith manual flight.

    After touch down, are the callouts of remaining runway length - "1,200 remaining", "900 remaining" - in feet or metres, because airport and navigation charts use feet but the distances on the runway look like metres?

    • @PapaPadde
      @PapaPadde  2 дні тому +3

      It is indeed meters as we are using that as a measurement value for runway length, even on our charts.
