I have been looking for something like this! I have everything ready to do my ACH conversion and this was the final piece I needed before I start cutting. Thanks!
Hey bro! I’m looking at the links you tagged. It looks like you have the sku’s mixed around based on the internal dimensions on the website itself. Thank for the awesome advice, the inspiration and for giving me the courage to try this myself!
These all came out so well, and exactly the info I was looking for. I could definitely do something like this in my shop. I'm running in to an issue of finding a "cost effective" ACH shell, almost putting the project out of range of truly saving some $$.
The market on ACHs has gotten downright brutal. Sign of the times 🙃 An alternative to an ACH is a PASGT. The rails should still fit, I also know they have rails made for the USMC LWH which is the same geometry as the pasgt if you're worried about compatability. You'll have to cut the front brim off as well so it's a bit more work and the kevlar will be a bit less effective than the ACH kevlar just due to age and design specs of the time. But the pasgt can be had for about 120-200. Can even find modernized ones that already have the shroud holes and rails to save some time and effort ordering and installing. Would just need to do the high cut mod.
I picked up an MSA like 10 years ago for about $50 and now I’m wanting a high cut. My buddy said he’d sell me his old HHV when he gets back from deployment but I’m thinking of doing this to mine I have now.
Do that and skip the HHV. HHV is arguably lower quality than the MSA shell you've got already. Arguably. I've never owned one. But I have heard and seen very mixed opinions/results on them in use and testing.
On the McMaster page, did went with the Neoprene rubber? Have you tried the SBR? Did you apply an initial layer of glue like you did with the other helmet you lined or did you apply the resin, then clamp the trim on and let it do the two things as once?
How can I paint my helmet like the grainy/sandy ops core coating? :( Please help. I find nothing about it... I need this grainy texture paint on my helmet
I think he means marine silicone adhesive. I'd use that. When I modded my helmet, the rubber edge trim was "easy" to remove. Not something epoxy is known for.

I've been searching for something like this for AGES. Holy shit, thank you!
Make sure you share it with folks!
@@BabyFaceP I absolutely will!! I actually emailed him, and he directed me right to this vid!! LOL I just ordered some.

One piece of advice is I would try and reduce the snag points for tight quarters
My question is what clamping method did you use for getting it attached to the surface
Looking good P
Thanks for sharing
The Helmet looks great 😎🙌🏻. Thank you for the Links 🙏🏻🇺🇸!

Nice, thanks for sharing, I seen you on Chris from the 740, you got a new sub buddy.
Definitely sell these or offer the services!
looks epic
I wonder how it would look on an SSh 68 xd
what would your recommendation be for two different measurements on the same helmet
Hey guys. For my helmet even the half inch liner was way to small for my kevlar. Fair warning maybe get somthing wider to line it.
How can I paint my helmet like the grainy/sandy ops core coating? :(
Please help. I find nothing about it...
I need this grainy texture paint on my helmet
Truck bed liner
I feel like rubber won’t stick to epoxy very well. Did you try to rough it up some? Have you had a problem with it coming off?

Really nice man!!! I didn’t see the McMaster carr sku…? How could I send you pictures of the one I’m working on?
Email, patrick@babyfacep.com. SKUs are in the description.
Finally got me a helmet and measured the thickness. Mine looks like 5/16 thick. should I go up to 3/8 on the trim then? Mine is Also an MSA.
Do the 3/8
what is the patch thing called on the side of helmets?
What is that hook mount thing you’ve got on the top?
How are those rails holding up? Any cracks? Wondering because you said they were knock offs. Thank you
Working as well as the real ones so far and I've donned and doffed my earpro loads of times.
What brand and model adhesive works? I have done a few tests with contact adhesives and marine epoxy and neither stuck to the rubber.

What chin strap did you use?
What glue did you use?
Loctite marine epoxy
WHERES the link to the guys site?
The first sentence of the description.
